Players’ Faith In Tom Brady Sealed

January 24th, 2021

Faith in QB paid back.

This is what a franchise quarterback some call a farm animal can do for a team.

We witnessed this all year when park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking Bucs quarterback Tom Brady led the Bucs to the Super Bowl.

(Yes, if the Bucs win one more game in two weeks, Joe will start referring to Brady as a “goat.” But Joe will never call Calvin Johnson a “megatron,” whatever the hell that is.)

Joe is absolutely convinced the reason Jason Pierre-Paul and Ndamukong Suh stayed for another year in Tampa was that they knew the Bucs were going to get Brady.

No one has told Joe this, but if Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, was still here, Joe is certain JPP and Suh would not be.

And after Brady agreed to sign, he coaxed his old buddy, foot-rubbing, car-littering tight end Rob Gronkowski out of retirement, which spurred Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht to swing a trade for Gronk.

(Joe still thinks it was a package deal: Brady agrees to come to Tampa Bay if the Bucs go get Gronk).

And we both know Playoff Lenny and furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing Antonio Brown are here for one reason: Brady. Oh, there could very well be a second reason: a Super Bowl run.

Well, here they are, going to the Super Bowl in their backyard. With Brady.

So the faith that JPP, Suh, Gronk, Brown and Playoff Lenny put into Brady paid off.

And maybe that road will end with the entire Bucs organization getting a Super Bowl ring?

No one k owns who the players are better than the players themselves. Mahomes is also o e of those guys. If KC wins this should be interesting. Bring on whoever’s next , Bucs playing with house money.

  5. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

All Bucs fans who can’t afford to go to the game should unite to their old tailgate posts and yell so loud outside the game that the team actually hears us inside the stadium. It would be a first and EPIC! Go Bucs! It’s our time!

  6. SteveK Says:

    Joe,

This moment is glorious. Can you and Ira discuss if there is any “advantage” to the Bucs spending SB week at home and sleeping on their own beds and playing in their home field? I feel like that is huge.

  7. Buc1987 Says:

Your stipulation is he has to win this next one…his 7th ring… for you to consider him the GOAT.

    Hogwash Joe.

You’ve been watching the GOAT all season.

Brady’s been the GOAT for a long time.

  8. bojim Says:

    Agree bucs1987

  9. Youngbucs Says:

Hey joe jpp made a Instagram video right after he signed hinting that Brady was coming.

  10. IrishMist Says:

Looks like we’ll be playing the Chiefs. I think the idea of getting their butts kicked yet again by Brady took the will to win away from the Bills.

  11. Curse of Gruden Says:

I have to agree with Mr. 1987, win or lose the Super Bowl, TB is the goat. There is nothing left to prove.

  12. Ocala Says:

Just checking Does Cynthia Frelund still have the Bucs corners ranked 32 in the NFL?

  13. David Says:

Here is the kicker… Him and Gronk are coming back next season.
In fact the entire offense, except possibly Fournette and Brown, will be back next season.
I have faith they’ll sign Godwin.
I have no problem with Vaughn stepping up with Rojo.
And I have faith that Miller and Johnson can take over for Brown.

On top of that, they will have an off-season together. I expect this offense to dominate and be even better next year.

  14. Miller5252 Says:

What a night for these guys coming home for the Super Bowl. Wish it wasn’t so far from Utah or I would out given er with all the other fans tonight and party during the Super Bowl! 7-5 and everyone said BA and Brady didn’t get along and the season was over. BA and Brady got the team to believe, not listen to anyone outside and 7 wins in a row and we’re in the Super Bowl! The whole organization, coaching staff and players should be proud of everything they’ve done to get the talent and making them play to their highest ability!! Super Bowl winning Bucs baby!!!! Go get er!!

  15. Tbbucs3 Says:

No way Fournette doesn’t come back w the Bucs. The offensive staff clearly trusts Lenny more than they do ROJO right now.

  16. SlyPirate Says:

When you step away from stats, TB12 is the true MVP of the league.

That said I’d give OMVP of the playoffs to Fournette and DMVP to White.

  17. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Com’on…..Joe, give the man the respect he’s due…..he’s taking a team with a losing record to their 2nd Super Bowl in 44 years……..and you want him to win it to add one positive addition to his moniker?

    Give us a break111

  18. ModHairKen Says:

No one tells the Tom Brady story without mentioning Tampa. The Glazers are geniuses.

  19. Snook Says:

Good thing Kyler Murray went to the Pro Bowl over Brady. Hahahahahahaha!!!

  21. August 1976 Buc Says:

The Living Legend baby!! Going for #7 SB and playing in 10th SB overall. Yes this is definitely the Brady Bunch GO BUCS!!!!

  22. Bird Says:

The bucs were in the bottom (toilet) for 6 out of the last 7 years in nfc south
Let that sink it. We had no hope
We start looking at nfl mock drafts in October/ November

Brady is absolutely the difference. And what other free agents can bucs get next year? Chance at super bowl and opportunity to play with the goat.

They will gave two weeks to get guys healthy …especially vea who pushed that pocket right into qb on most of his snaps.

  23. Bird Says:

    Ndog is a loser

  24. Zzbuc Says:

Joe is still mourning JW there is no other explanation after this article..
    Not serious!!!

  25. Backtabucs Says:

    GOAT

  26. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Bird.

You seem to forget the Bucs made huge upgrades all across the board, not just at the QB position.

    It’s not just Brady.

The Bucs made upgrades at yes, QB, but also.
    – Oline
    – Running back
    – Secondary
    – And Kicking.

  27. Jeffbuc Says:

Is that one poster ever going to come back. I remember him saying we ruined this team by signing Brady. And it is super bowl or a failure of a season. Anyone heard from him. Go Bucs baby home game in home locker room for super bowl.

  28. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @David

I think you’re right about the entire Offense returning except Fournette & AB…
I also think they will pony-up the money for Godwin….

But the cost will be to our defense…..there is no way we can pay Shaq & Godwin big money….it’s just simply not there…

We need to trade up for an edge rusher to replace Shaq….or at the very least a DT to replace Suh…..money will be an issue…..but, right now I’m enjoying the moment.

  29. SufferingSince76 Says:

Suck on it, Haters and Trolls and enjoy your crow!

This moment is glorious. Can you and Ira discuss if there is any “advantage” to the Bucs spending SB week at home and sleeping on their own beds and playing in their home field? I feel like that is huge.

Joe will tell you a true story about his old high school coach (who played for the 1970s Raiders and Cowboys; he was a scrub).

When the Steelers played the Rams in the Super Bowl Joe was in high school. Joe’s coach told Joe the Rams would win, which at the time was a preposterous prediction. This was the almighty Steelers, arguably the greatest team to ever play.

The Super Bowl was held that year in the Rose Bowl. Joe at first thought his coach hated the Steelers so much (he did) that he was being blinded by hate.

Joe’s coach said, no. His exact quote to Joe was, “You have no idea how much better off a team is just by sleeping in their own bed at night.”

The Rams led in the fourth quarter until Bradshaw threw two beautiful bombs to win the game. So Joe’s coach wasn’t exactly full of it.

So there you have your answer.

  31. OBF Says:

    More giddy trivia
This time last year Winfield was wondering about the NFL draft, two weeks he’ll hear his name called as a starting Buccaneer safety in the Super Bowl!
I am so happy for Lavonte David, Suh and JPP

  32. Leighroy Says:

Articles are important; Joe has numerous times referred to Sabby Piscitelli as “a” goat, and has yet to refer to Brady as “the” GOAT (acronym not an animal btw).

One future game result will change Joe’s mind? Please provide a counter example of other candidates for said illustrious title if you’re so on the fence, and we can talk amongst ourselves Linda Richman style. Discuss!

  33. OBF Says:

    And Oh !
    Big Dog is smiling!

  34. Colonel Angus Says:

GOAT and Megatron are off limits to you, unworthy sobriquets? Yet you still have no qualms about using “Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston”. It’s your blog.
You’re still the man though, Joe. Keep up the good work and don’t jinx the Bucs by picking them to win in the SB55!

  35. SteveK Says:

    Thanks Joe!

Hope we can seal the deal in two weeks.

  36. August 1976 Buc Says:

I was in the Joe Montana camp as the GOAT, but once Brady won his 5th, that’s when I said he was the GOAT. I did not know all the other ridiculous stats that Brady already had. As of today Montana now has now less than half the playoff wins. There are many more stats that Brady has ridiculously more than any other player in the annals of the storied NFL. BTW To say that Montana is the GOAT is only personal preference. Nothing wrong with opinions, but the facts have become overwhelmingly in favor of the greatest QB to ever play for the Bucs. Sure is fun being a Bucs fan these glorious days!!!! GO BUCS!!!!

  37. 123urout Says:

Lafleur choked. 2 minutes left and U did not trust Freaking Rodgers to get that first down or a touchdown. Who do you think the bucs QB, Jamies Winston?? hahaha 🤣

  38. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

Good inside story Joe I love it. Positive stories leading to the big game. I have video of Tony Romo calling the Bucs and Chiefs in the Super Bowl after we lost to them. He felt good about the Bucs. I recorded it knowing he was right. Go Bucs!

  39. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

Their is always a positive message hidden in some of our deepest moments. Sometimes you have to seek the good. Go Bucs! It’s our time!

  40. Colonel Angus Says:

NFC is home team this year for Super Bowl right? I known they rotate it every year and I believe Chiefs were home team last SB. Would be weird if Bucs had to be in the visiting locker room.

  41. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

Angus I feel this situation is so odd that the Bucs should have choice. Unwritten rule you host the super bowl and you are there playing you pick whatever the hell you want to wear. Haha. Go Bucs!

  42. ItzOK Says:

We wondered what would happen if you replaced Jamies with Brady and we have an unreal answer. Brady has been perfect. Although his unwillingness to take a sack or get hit and chuck it up for three straight interceptions needs to change. Beyond that I have all faith in Brady

  43. 813bucboi Says:

We’re headed to the SB in Tampa…I’ll be damn lol

    GO BUCS

  44. Athlete Says:

    3TD’s & 3 INT’s seals it

  45. Tbtb12 Says:

Love Brady & this offense. That said, a BIG THANK YOU to the D for the Phenomenal job against the top O in NFL.

  46. Backtabucs Says:

    First off,
    C. Angus, the fact that you mentioned “sobriquet” is awesome.

Next, what the F*** are we debating? He IS the GOAT!

He has marshaled teams with mediocre receiver corps to greatness for years and years. Now, he pulls a team mired in crap-a-tude into the f-ing superbowl and people say “Eh”?

    Are you kidding?

    GOAT!

  47. ClodHopper Says:

I disagree about your Goat standards Joe, but I’ll give you this: You at least know there is only one goat. i’m getting tired of hearing talking heads and radio guys spout about everyone thats kinda good is a goat. The AFC game had “two future goats” according to Simms and Florio. EFF That!! Best of your generation and GOAT are two very very different things. Maybe one of them can be a goat, but there not laying around like a bunch of dogs!

  48. ClodHopper Says:

    *They’re

  49. james west Says:

just had a thought, will tristan wirfs expect this is normal, and think they will be in the SB every year?

  50. Youdeservetombrady Says:

Anybody catching the halftime show when Terry Bradshaw called Brady the best quarterback of the past 25 years??? Like seriously wtf???? I think maybe somebody’s a little jealous. Give Brady those Steelers teams with those receivers Franco Harris and the iron curtain defense he would have won ten super bowls.

  51. TOM Says:

The Bucs have a really good chance to win the Super Bowl as long as they don’t beat themselves. Receivers can’t be dropping balls & TB has to be more accurate. Need defense to contain Patty.
