Nearing Playoff History

January 8th, 2021

“Would you believe… “

Imagine Maxwell Smart, Agent 86, cornered by one of the representatives of KAOS, the international organization of evil, trying to squeeze Smart for Bucs intel for an underhanded gambling scheme, hearing the following from Smart:

“Would you believe the Bucs have two players that may break an NFL playoff record in our nation’s capital Saturday night?”

The KAOS agent would take a long drag off a menthol cigarette, exhale and reply, “Frankly Mr. Smart, that is very difficult to believe.”

But alas, it is true!

This tidbit courtesy of Andrew Holman on the Bucs’ media relations staff. The Bucs could make playoff history tomorrow night. Well, two Bucs players.

Say “Montana-to-Rice” and it reminds football fans of excellence. Not just good, but elite. The highest level.

Well, that’s where park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking Bucs quarterback Tom Brady and foot-rubbing, car-littering Bucs tight end Rob Gronkowski are.

Currently, the Bucs’ quarterback-tight end duo is tied with Montana and Rice for the most playoff touchdown passes with 12.

If Gronk catches a touchdown pass from Brady Saturday night, those two will set the new NFL record for playoff hookups for touchdowns at 13.

And they will do it wearing red jerseys and pewter pants.

A pair of Bucs setting an NFL playoff record? The Bucs have played in so few playoff games since winning the Super Bowl, even Maxwell Smart would struggle selling that to a KAOS agent.

No way you guys are that old. I barely remember that show. It must have been done by the late 60’s.

    Dude, you are old AF.

Ever hear of “reruns?” Or Nickelodeon? Or YouTube?

Joe’s just now binging on “Combat.” That was made before Joe was born.

Joe’s a Three Stooges freak. Curly was dead long, long before Joe was born. Joe also likes John Wayne flicks. Never ever saw a John Wayne flick in the theatre.

Great classic reference Joe. I love some old ones myself. Just finished binging several old Clint Eastwood classic westerns: Hang Plains Drifter, Outlaw Josey Wales, Unforgiven, etc. Those are the best. Grew up watching Combat, Get Smart, 3 Stooges, Hogans Heros, Dark Shadows, etc. Thank you for those classic references

We recently got into The Lone Ranger and I remember watching Rawhide(Clint Eastwood and killer theme song) on late night TV years ago. Get Smart was on after school as a kid. I also loved the stooges….even Shemp! My favorite show in on tonight! GO BUCS!!!!!

Damn Joe way to make a guy feel really old. I watched several John Wayne films in the theater. And yeah Vic Morrow was great in Combat but I actually preferred Rick Jason…great series.

And of course Maxwell Smart…he perfected “would you believe?” long before Trump.
