Lavonte David, Devin White, Earn All-Pro Second-Team Honors

January 8th, 2021

This won’t have anyone high-fiving at One Buc Palace, but it’s still nice.

Sage JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman and 49 other panelists commissioned by the Associated Press cast their annual All-Pro ballots early this week and the results are out today.

No first-teamers for the Buccaneers, but Lavonte David and Devin White were second-teamers.

With All-Pro voting, edge-rusher  are separated from inside linebackers, but that wasn’t enough to earn David or White a top-dog award. The first-team All-Pros this year at linebacker are Fred Warner (49ers) Bobby Wagner (Seahwaks) and Darius Leonard (Colts). Warner and Wagner also got the NFC Pro Bowl nods over White and David.

No other Bucs were named to the second team.

What a joke Tristan Wirfs and Ali Marpet at the very least should of been 2nd team All Pros. Each guy is in the top 5 least amount of pressures for there positions and according PFF each man has only given up one sack for the entire season. Man I hope we go out there and wreck WAS because the disrespect had to stop.

  2. Richard Dickson Says:

Wirfs came in 3rd at RT, pretty impressive for a rookie. And Marpet was 3rd at LG.

  3. gbobucsfan Says:

    Wirfs was robbed !!

  4. Mitch Says:

Real question – second team all-pro an official award? Or is it just counting who go the second most votes?

  5. Steven007 Says:

We’re on Earth is this Fred Warner love coming from? He’s a nice linebacker for sure, not much different from about 10 or 12 others in the league. But whitye I outshines him statistically in almost every category and that’s with him missing a game. Don’t understand that.

    *Where on earth

  7. TheBradyBunch Says:

They definitely got snubbed for the Pro Bowl but that’s ok because they wouldn’t have been able to play anyways. The GOAT has every intention of playing one more home game this year!!!!

  8. Allbuccedup Says:

Good for both of them. Sad part David is going to get paid by someone. If not the Bucs somebody else.

  9. Mitch Says:

I found the answer. Second team all pro isn’t a real accolade.

  10. Kobe Faker Says:

“Devin White the best QB sacker in the NFL

Its just that the Bucs dont know how to use DW correctly

Kobe Faker is a X and O type of guy

There is no defensive player in the NFL that is quicker or faster to takedown a player within 10 yards

Devin White has created a consistent scheme/maneuver to sack a QB that has never ever been seen in the history of the NFL

Its because only Devin White with his only bodily dimensions and skillset can consistently take down the QB with this maneuver

Amazingly DW doesnt even position himself in the line of scrimmage. At 5’10 or 5′ 11 if he is lying when the behemoth 6’6 stands up, DW gets lost and finds continuous multiple easy angles to bypass the Fat Oline man

Biceps? look at the 20″ guns and the hand power to swipe the slow attempt of the Fat olineman trying to block a 5’10 speeding bullet

The Bucs and DC Toilet Bowle should play a 4-1-2 defense

Dont have DW ever play coverage but every down roam behind the defensive players and explode to the hole for the sack or run blitz

They brought IL Bucannon back on the practice squad. That makes me a little nervous about how White is recovering from COVID. Any word on this?

  12. Rod Munch Says:

David is now a two time all-pro selection – meaning the best of the very best, and yet he’s never made a pro-bowl. LOL! Shows how stupid and worthless pro-bowl voting is.

Being an ALL-PRO, first or second team, is a huge deal. Congrats to both guys, but in particular to David. I’ve literally never heard of a player making two all-pro teams while making 0 pro-bowls, never heard of that.

  13. gp Says:

Just putting another chip on their shoulders.
Time to prove the doubters wrong!

  14. gbobucsfan Says:

IrishMist, earlier White Tweeted something to the tune of…..win tomorrow so I can come back next week…..I’m healthy and feeling good after having COVID.

  15. D1 Says:

    Rod,

Great point about LVD! When you think about it, it’s ridiculous!

    Mitch,

Read Rod Munch’s post it will help.

  16. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Good, hope some of our players play smart but pissed off tomorrow night for being 2nd team or left off all together.

  17. Mitch Says:

D1 – Greg Auman from the Athletic is the one who said there is no such thing as second team all-pro because there are only 50 votes so if a player gets all 50 votes for all pro like TE Travis Kelce did that would leave a vacancy on the “2nd team all-pro list.” Or if a player gets 49 and another gets 1 does that make that player who received one vote second team all-pro.

I don’t disagree with any of you though. I believe White, David, and Wirfs should be all-pro selections. It’s all politics for instance in my opinion Fred Warner got the nod at linebacker because Aaron Rodgers called him the best linebacker in football, and no other reason.

  18. Buczilla Says:

Buc’s players getting screwed over by a vast majority of goober voters for postseason awards? Shocking.

  19. TheBradyBunch Says:

Irish – it’s a protocol. Whether he feels good or not has absolutely nothing to do with his availability.

  20. David Says:

Well if Rojo did not sit out two games (and get ignored in a couple others) I think he’d be first or second team. I don’t believe anyone else on defense deserves it.
Too many weapons with the ball spread out for a receiver to make it.
    That leaves O-ine.
You could easily make arguments for Marpet, Jensen, and Wirfs.

I know fans do not care, more focused on their team in the playoffs, but it’s nice recognition for them. It helps them down the road. It helps them with future pro bowls and Hall of Fame credentials. Sometimes it helps them with salary incentives.

    @ rod

David has made a pro bowl
