Jordan Whitehead Update

January 26th, 2021

The latest.

When it comes to the status of a Bucs starter for the Super Bowl, even the smallest morsel of information is news.

And it is with hard-hitting safety Jordan Whitehead. In the NFC Championship game, Whitehead was a key defensive figure forcing two fumbles, the biggest was early in the third quarter when he dislodged the ball from Packers running back Aaron Jones. Devin White recovered and ran it deep into Green Bay territory.

The Bucs would get a touchdown on the short field, which proved critical in the five-point win.

Whitehead, however, hurt his shoulder on the play and left the game. Yesterday, Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians mentioned that it was too soon to tell if Whitehead would play in the Super Bowl.

Jenna Laine of ESPN has something of an update.

It’s not huge news but just from Laine’s share, at worst it sounds as if Whitehead would be a gametime decision in the late afternoon on Super Bowl Sunday.

I mentioned this in an earlier post, but since this is directly about Whitehead, this little news is a worrisome morsel. He clearly doesnt have a fracture since they would have seen that on x-ray. Surprised they waited so long on the MRI given he is our starting safety.
Must have too much pain right now to play.
I’m guessing he has an AC joint injury, but it can’t be complete separation as they would have seen that on x-ray (which I assume they took that night). I suppose that’s good news, can just shoot some lidocaine in their at game time and let him play.

  2. Bird Says:

Hope he can play. Knowing him he would shoot up his shoulder to do so if no nasty tears

    He has 2 weeks

  3. buxszntkt Says:

Now, back to Kay Adams, she is so hot.

  4. atlBucs Says:

The way we played in the second half in the first game against KC and their loss of two starting Olinemen gives me the feeling we are going to win this game. It reminds me of our other superbowl when Oakland had the league’s best offense and we smoked them

I agree the silence on JW speaks volumes. Heal up well!

  6. Joe Says:

    Hates: Bacon

A polish girl who doesn’t like bacon? That seems terribly unAmerican.

  7. CalBucsFan Says:

I wonder if he separated his shoulder on that last tackle he made. The RB juked a little at the last second just before Whitehead hit him. It looked like Whitehead tried to shift the strike zone he was targeting in the same direction of the RB’s shift and made an awkward tackle.

  8. Mitch Says:

Why is everyone saying he hurt his shoulder on this play? He didn’t. He got hurt when he flipped Jamal Williams taking a quad to the shoulder.

The MRI leads me to believe he separated or dislocated it. They had to wait for the swelling to go down to get the MRI to see if he tore anything or suffered any soft tissue damage.

If his labrum is torn he can play with a shoulder brace and get surgery after the SB.

  9. bojim Says:

Nice to have all these doctors on your site Joe.

  10. OBF Says:

Good thing he has two shoulders!
He’ll be starting in the Super Bowl!

  11. gp Says:

    ***Hates: Bacon***

    More for me!

  12. diggler Says:

Dang! If he tore his labrum he will be an absolutely beast if he plays. 2 years after I tore mine I still wince when I wipe my a@@.

  13. Anonymous Says:

@ Robert, LOL, thanks for the stats. I don’t think she is dating Amendola anymore ?

  14. Jodibrown74 Says:

Thought he got hurt during the next Packers series with the big hit on back up running back Williams.

  15. buxszntkt Says:

He went out immediately after the forced fumble , no ???

  16. Robert Says:

    @ anonymous……think he dumper her over a torn lab..NAH, I shouldn’t

she aint hot though. maybe anne coulter hot, but she’s no Salma Hayek

  17. anonymous Says:

@BOJIM, i imagine you are being facetious, but I am a doctor, and therefore I shared my thoughts.

  18. anonymous Says:

Robert, what are u smokn ? Ann Coulter ? She is an ice queen ! ARgh, you can’t think she is hot unless you are like 95 years old ?

  19. anonymous Says:

    95 with severe cataracts !

  20. Kentucky Buc Says:

No coach worth his salt is going to give you an accurate injury update 2 weeks before the bowl.

  21. Kentucky Buc Says:

And no he didn’t get hurt on the forced fumble. Got hurt when he flipped Williams .

  22. m0j0 Says:

Hopefully the combo of Winfield and Edwards can get it done. It doesn’t sound good for the enforcer JW.

  23. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Bet Kay Adams smells like bacon…….love the smell of bacon!!!

  24. 99.97.92.55.47.40.28.20.7 Says:

Gents it’s pretty obvious this is like a grade 2 AC sprain. Not the end of the world, 2 week recovery for high school kids, let alone pros with a full team of trainers. If it were something more nefarious like a broken collar bone or an AC sprain with bone chip, he would have been ruled out by now.

  25. Joe Says:

Robert, what are u smokn ? Ann Coulter ? She is an ice queen ! ARgh, you can’t think she is hot unless you are like 95 years old ?

Even then. Funny, but anorexic. No thanks.

  26. Jimmy Says:

    >>> maybe anne coulter hot, <<<

    uuuugghhh. She is nasty.

Could understand if you said Tomi Lahren. On TV she's OK, but annoying. Her Instagram stories feed she is sexy as hell. But man, she is annoying on TV.

  27. Mike pizzoli Says:

Kay adams is soooo hot, and Anne coulter is gross. Also hope JW is good to go

  28. Lokog Says:

She might hate bacon but loves sausage

  29. geno711 Says:

If it is the Labrum tear – I got to think for one week – Super Bowl week he can play.

I remember reading from Pro Football Doc about Noah Spence and his labrum tear. He said that it was going to be a permanent injury that would end his career. He said football players, especially DLine or Linebackers, have to do extended reaching at the line of scrimmage and that would eventually cause a re-occurrence of the injury. He especially said that about Spence because he had two occurrences of the injury and said that after the repair, it would never be quite the same for football related plays.

  30. JimbobBucsFan Says:

Adams doesn’t sound like a Polish name! LOL Now, maybe Adamsky … I dunno!

I wonder if she prefers Polish sausage “hot dogs” . I know I do with relish and mustard and I’m not Polish either! 🌭 🤗

  31. Joe Says:

Adams doesn’t sound like a Polish name!

She’s Polskie. Not only has she spoken about it before, she speaks Polish (Joe has heard her).

“Adams” could be her chosen stagename from years ago or her real name from her dad (mom could be Polish).

  32. SOEbuc Says:

Kay Adams pretty skanky if you ask me. Looks like she dyed herself orange. Erin Andrews through a key hole was much hotter than Adamms lol. She ain’t got Tom Brady super model wife dough either…But I’m still down lol.

  33. SufferingSince76 Says:

    Lokog, good one!

  34. TampaTown Says:

Are we doing this again? 🙄

  35. adam from ny Says:

  36. BucsArrrBack Says:

Thanks Jenna for the update 😳 How did she get that gig to be the Bucs main reporter on ESPCNN ?? She would be great for USF or a local HS team.

  37. Brandon Says:

    Whitehead is our best SS..
Winfield might be our best safety. Edwards could very well be our best FS. Just saying… against the pass, our best safeties might be Winfield and Edwards. Would that be so bad?

  38. Clean House Says:

Thank god we’ve got a professional training/Dr./psychic staff on the message board

  39. Capt.Tim Says:

    Not a doctor.
But from personal experience- it looked like a stinger.
Had’em. Hurt like the devil, but usually recover quickly.
