More happy hints about Mike Evans’ knee

The leader of the Buccaneers sounds more optimistic about Mike Evans playing on Saturday in the Buccaneers’ first playoff game since Simeon Rice’s last crushed a quarterback.

(For the young fans here, Simeon Rice is not a Thai dish. He’s a legendary Buccaneer.)

Head coach Bucco Bruce Arians joined his TV friends at WFLA-TV and proclaimed that he believes it’s darn likely Evans will make a speedy comeback from the knee he hyperextended in ugly fashion Sunday against the Falcons,

“I just have to see him practice, you know. And knowing Mike, as tough as he is, I think there’s a good shot he’ll make it,” Arians said of the likelihood Evans will play Saturday.

This is exceptional news, just more evidence that the injury isn’t so bad and shouldn’t be a playoffs-long issue. Joe’s really not concerned about whether Evans plays Saturday or not. The Bucs should be excellent shape without him.

No way Mike Evans will miss his first playoff game……

  2. JustBucNwin Says:

As much as I want to see him suit up and play his 1st playoff game, I am not sure it’s wise to rush him! The field sucks at FedEx and the risk is even higher!

  3. Nutterbuccer Says:

Hope they limit him unless needed. Redzone and third downs. Gonna need him vs the packers or saints

  4. TheBucsAnthem Says:

I’ve had this injury before………….NO WAY he’ll be 100% in less than a week……………….no way.

He may be able to run………….but not as fast

He may be able to run his routes……but not as crisp or as sharp

If anything…………Mike Evans will be used more as a decoy and then then’ll mainly use him in the end zone since he doesn’t really have to run long routes.

I still hope he gets on the field this Sunday for atleast 10 snaps.

  5. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Ops……I meant Saturday ^^^^

  6. Usedtocould Says:

Anthem, my condolences for your pain and suffering. It must have been a crazy Black Friday at Walmart for you to get an injury like that.

  7. I CARE NOW Says:

Did anyone else think, when he first went down, Mike is just doing what Mike does. Which is typically getting banged up and turning right back around to gut out the rest of the game. Than, when I saw the reply and him being carted to the locker room I thought, oh crap he is done for the season. Which made me feel sick to my stomach and shed a tear.

I didn’t even enjoy the rest of the game after that.

Just curious because I’m not surprised (shocked for sure) he will be back. He is just doing what Mike does. It will certainly be a part of he HOF induction credentials.

Also, anyone doubting if he should or will play is wasting their time. It would be better to consider how many punts we will have Saturday.

  8. Robert Says:

We don’t need a decoy now that we have AB.

  9. Reddington Neck Shores Says:

Even if the knee is structurally intact doesn’t mean there was no ligament injury. Just not torn to be seen on an mri. Rushing back could put you at risk of a bigger injury due to the laxity. Think RG3 in the playoffs at fed ex field. It’s been a soggy few weeks up there with more rain Friday. I say suit him up and use him if we need to but don’t push just to push him back. Will need him more in Lambeau

  10. Evolvingbucsfan Says:

They will definitely limits his snaps like they have done in the past when he was struggling with a lingering injury, Just having Mike on the field will be enough to keep the secondary guessing and that’s all Brady needs.

Smells like the Bucs in the playoffs, i almost forgot that smell, well i think i did for a while.

    GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!!!

“Simeon Rice is not a Thai dish” Hahahaha!!

  12. TheBradyBunch Says:

I have to say being at the stadium and watching him almost collapse after finally getting up I find it hard to believe he will be even close to 50% on Saturday. Arians tends to always downplay injuries and I think this may be one more example. Probably smart though as Washington will have to prepare as if he will be there until he is officially ruled out. I would prefer to have him healthy for game 2 of the playoffs. If they can’t beat a 7-9 team with only A.B. and Godwin they’re not a real contender anyway.

  13. 1Gr8Buc Says:

lol @BucsAnthem comparing himself to a professional athlete and thinking M1K3’s pain tolerance and recovery rate is anywhere near yours or that you had/have the same access to the state of the art technology and doctors that he does.

    Get a grip my guy.

  14. Beeej Says:

Absent Evans, AB takes his slot, Scooter slides into AB’s prior slot, it’s not like we’re depending on Justin Watson (will Brady EVER throw that fit another pass?)

  15. Steven007 Says:

Anthem, you’ll never live down your ugly and silly weenie arm trollishness. But your comment here was a good one and I agree.

  16. rrsrq Says:

Expect a good dose of ROjO and Fournett running and catching the ball early. I do expect at least a 14 point victory, their TE is big and worries me a little if they can get in the red zone, remember how Olson used to work us when with the Panthers, yes it’s a different defense, but Riverboat Ron still knows the division

LMFAO. That was the post of the day!!

  18. Georger Says:

If Evans can play, you play EVANS PERIOD!!!!! There is no next week if we don’t win this week. We don’t want to say I wish we would of played him and didn’t. You don’t take anything for granted.

  19. MCHammer Says:

Hard to imagine ME13 not being on the field Saturday night. Even if it hurts like he’ll, he will either request an injection(do they still fo that?) Or suck it up. There is no guarantee he will EVER get another shot at the playoffs. Look at GMC.

  20. Listnfrmafar Says:

Agreed, Bucs are going into their house and all these playoff teams are dangerous. Evan’s needs snaps to confuse D if anything. If oline fails it’s off to the beach and all Joe will be able to talk about is 2021. Still say Evan’s should of caught the pass, Godwin would have.

  21. Cobraboy Says:

Having gone through the same injury well before modern rehab and treatment regimens—back then it was “rub some dirt on it, eat a salt tab and sit in the tub”—I will be surprised if Evans does not play at a high-level Saturday night.

  22. Cobraboy Says:

There is no “sit out for an extra week” in the playoffs, period.

Sudden death, lose and go home, is a huge motivating factor.

  23. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Regarding the importance of Evans playing vs not playing – consider AB going against the #2 cover corner or the #3 cover corner.

  24. BradyBucs Says:

Usedtocould with the ultimate post and owning Anthem. Haha.

  25. danr Says:

@cobraboy, especially in your first chance at the playoffs.

OK Joe that deserves a rimshot…badda boom!!!

  27. TampaTown Says:

I’m sure ME will be wearing a knee brace for some stabilization.
