How Will Bucs Attack The Pack?

January 23rd, 2021

Decisions.

Now guys like Warren Sharp are of the mind if the Bucs don’t ditch the run and put the ball in the hands of park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking Bucs quarterback Tom Brady, the Bucs are doomed to watch the Super Bowl from their couches in two weeks.

Given that Aaron Rodgers is 70-1 at Lambeau Field when leading at halftime, Sharp’s analysis makes a world of sense to Joe.

Then there is the matter of the Bucs’ running game. Behind a strong offensive line, it’s just getting better and better each week. With the Packers generally having a soft run defense, the Bucs could go ground-and-pound and keep Rodgers and his deadly right arm on the sidelines.

The gang of “Good Morning Football,” Saturday Edition is split.

Former cornerback DeAngelo Hall seems to think Brady will air it out. Hall said normally when a team loses a guy like Antonio Brown, they won’t throw as much. With the Bucs, Hall said, that doesn’t matter because the team is so deep at receiver. Hall is really impressed with Bucs receiver Tyler Johnson. “The kid can play football.”

Mike Garafolo isn’t so sure. Garafolo thinks if Brady does air it out and targets Mike Evans, who will likely be covered by Jaire Alexander, the Packers’ corner may have a field day.

Fetching Colleen Wolfe believes the Bucs may stick to the run to avoid the Packers pass rush.

Michael Robinson, who has been weekly screaming for about two months to anyone who would listen that the Bucs are built to maul people on the ground despite the “shiny receivers,” must bludgeon the Packers Charmin-like run defense.

“I feel like a broken record,” Robinson said of begging Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians to stick to the run.

Keep them off balance. Brady will throw for 300+, both Rojo and Playoff Lenny will go over 75. Bucs win big on their way to a Tampa super bowl birth! Bucs by 17

  2. Wesley Says:

Don’t be scarred of them or give them too much respect.

  3. Cobraboy Says:

Why not do both: maul in the run and gash with play-action?

I’d like to see 35 of each.

  4. Coburn Says:

I’ll say same I have last two weeks. Start with some high completion stuff to get into rhythm. Some dump offs and quick wr screens and some runs. Then take your shot after getting some first downs. That’s how we started fast near end of the year. When we go bombs away at the start we often aren’t even warmed up and often go 3 and out. If you want to get up early it’s about which is more efficient, not about how fast you score. You can air it out and if it ends up 40% of drives are TDs and run game/short pass drives end in 60% of TD it’s basic math

  5. Bird Says:

Our great receivers and tight ends set up the run

We can maul them by air, land and sea 😂
Their defense is good but not great
No reason 30 points cant be had. Guys will be nervous cause first time in playoff championship for most

But i have good feeling about offense
Hoping defense is unleashed and devin white unloads on rogers
He got sacked by devin and lvd last game

  6. The Red Mirage Says:

Throw on first run on second.

  7. Listnfrmafar Says:

The problem with ground and pound is that your passing game has.no rythem, which quite often leads to field goals. We all know FG’s aren’t going to cut it. No matter what if your having great success running why put it up providing Bucs are getting into end zone. Not sure why so worried about pass rush Bucs oline shut down both WFT & NO def line. I am more concerned GB DB’S line up same as NO and shut Bucs pass down which would eliminate the shoot out. I would hope Bowles would focus more on the Tenn, Chic & Rams games more so than week 6. GB shut down Henry, the best RB in football.

    My sentiments, exactly!

  9. Coburn Says:

End of the day take what defense gixes you to some extent. The games we played poorly on offense it seems we were just running guys up the sideline everyone play and they just played two deep and our guys were always double covered. In the meantime there was often empty space right over the middle. So gotta be willing to attack all areas of the field and we are certainly capable.for whatever reason we didn’t seem to run a lot of slants with our wr

  10. mg Says:

Take what they give you. Capitalize on the few one on one plays that occur.

  11. adam from ny Says:

    this is crazy man…

all we can do now is wait…

    22 hours

  12. Coburn Says:

Heck we started out the saints game the same way. Trying for a shot too early on 3rd and shorts… I think one of the reasons brate has had success is that opportunity over the middle.

  13. adam from ny Says:

suh’s gonna have to be the old detroit enforcer…

letting rodgers know whats up, and that there will be no hug ups and sweet nothings after the game

  14. Allbuccedup Says:

Its all good either way. If you want it its there for the taking, so go get it.

  15. Casual Observer Says:

Be unpredictable – on O and D. On O, balance and unpredictability.

  16. Listnfrmafar Says:

That’s the problem, Bucs are to predictable. I mean c’mon was there one 1st down last week where Bucs didn’t run up the middle?

  17. adam from ny Says:

suh has to welcome rodgers to “punk city” almost right away…

and let him know for the next 60 minutes he is living in cell block D

    🙂

  18. DaBux Says:

POUND the ground. And go read the article about Jensen on BSPN. Damned it that isn’t a great article. No wonder Brady likes this guy.

  20. Godlovesbucs Says:

The coaches have to be flexible enough to not try to win a certain way. Look at ehat the d is allowing and beat them with whats open. The best thing about this team is they can run when open (green bay, carolina, saints 3rd game) short pass when available (denver, minnesota,(3rd saints game) or air it out (chargers, atlanta, detroit, vegas). Just put brady in the position to choose and he rarely makes the wrong choice. Hr has made a career on not having to impose his will to beat someone.

  21. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I agree, we can easily be a power running team, and control the ball

  22. Defense Rules Says:

To a certain extent the weather will determine what works best. Cold is one thing, but if they get any snow & the field gets slick, both teams will have some adjusting to do. Other than that contingency though, I agree with Cobraboy: why not do both? Just keep Green Bay’s defense off-balance & put up points. WHATEVER IT TAKES! WE GOT THIS.

  23. Zwak Says:

Whoever has more rushing yards wins this game! Bucs vs Bills in the bowl!

  24. Kentucky Buc Says:

Weather should be a non factor. 31 game time . Warmer than that on the field with it being a heated field. Little to no wind.

  25. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Harper is on record with a Bucs 10 point win with no score prediction.

  26. james west Says:

man i’m soon to be 58, sometime in the next few months, been pulling for this club since 76′ we have never had an offense this dynamic, coupled with a defense that at times are more than capable of winning the game, long time since i’ve been this excited LFG BUCS

  27. Jerry Says:

With the Packers not being very good against the run, you got to attack that first and foremost. And then go heavy with screens and play action. The deep play will be there.

    It’ll be a balanced attack.

  28. Pewter Power Says:

AB didn’t join us until week 9, this offense was potent long before he got here. Lazy analysts keep saying we can’t win because he’s not playing and it’s just not true. We can attack that sorry defense any way we want

  29. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

What people don’t realize it doesn’t matter if we run or pass a lot. This team and Tom Brady has proven we can get yards in chunks and score quickly. Our defense can be burned but is very opportunistic and our offense can burn defenses. This will not be as easy for Green Bay as some people think it will.

  30. Jeff Says:

As soon as I head Fournette referred to with an affectionate nickname I knew he was jynxed for 2 fumbles in the snow now. You guys did this. No reason to be confident. This is the Packers at home with the 2nd best QB in the leave. Bucs are toast. 37-21 Packers

  31. Oneilbucs Says:

How should the bucs attack ?? Run the ball and dink and dunk all the way to the superbowl !!! Let’s goooooo !!!!!
