Fat Bonus In Play For Ndamukong Suh

January 3rd, 2021

Ndamukong Suh

The anchor in the gut of the Bucs’ defensive also serves as his own agent, a little known fact.

Yes, Ndamukong Suh negotiated his own contract this season. And agent Suh has a clause in play today that could score him $500,000, per super insider Adam Schefter of BSPN.

The Bucs are the sixth-ranked defense in the NFL when it comes to yards allowed (seventh in points). That’s a top-10 defense by any standard and defensive coordinator should be damn proud. But if the Bucs can climb to a No. 5-or-better ranking today, per Schefter, Suh pockets half a million.

This is fun and thought-provoking. Suh has made well over $110 million in the NFL, one of the biggest hauls in league history. Plus, he’s known as a shrewd investor, so $500,000 to him may feel meaningless. Perhaps not.

Maybe Suh will do something cool and promise every defensive player $10,000 if the Bucs bump up their ranking.

GREAT TAMPA TWO episode looking at what Brooks calls a must-win against the Falcons.

Legendary Buccaneer Derrick Brooks is here twice a week on JoeBucsFan.com talking Bucs with The Sage Of Tampa Bay Sports, Ira Kaufman. Always a can’t-miss for Joe. Analysis and insight presented by The Identity Tampa Bay and Joe.

    damn, what a smart dude….

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I wonder if we have any “post season” bonus money written into contracts…..

  3. Casual Observer Says:

I think he has a degree in engineering from Nebraska. All round smart. Good addition to the team.

Not how Suh operates. He’s more of a hired gun than an actual team guy. That’s not to say he isn’t a good a character guy/leader in the room with our guys, but to suggest that also suggests a lack of familiarity with Suh.

  5. DoooshLaRue Says:

Too bad he’s gonna blow it all on kimonos and comic books.

    Oh wait…….. wrong 93!

  6. Jason Says:

    Ba+Ab.

    Suh is a Warren Buffett disciple. $10,000 x 25 defensive players = $250,000.
Spending $250,000 to make $500,000 guaranteed has nothing to do with being a “team guy,” it just makes economic sense.

  7. Rob Tanner Says:

    I too think it’s

    is fun and though-provoking

You really made me though about it Joe 😆

  8. Kentucky Buc Says:

It’s not an accident that teams he’s on get a lot of sacks. He draws a lot of attention. Look how Rams defense fell off last year after he left. One more year. Make it happen.

  9. Cobraboy Says:

    Jason gets it.

Of all the Bucs, I’d like to grill some dead animal flesh in the backyard with Suh. What an interesting guy!

  10. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

Suh is everything McCoy isn’t…for better or worse I suppose. Shoves opponents down vs picking them up with an apology, plays the markets vs dolls…glad he’s a Buc…hope he gets a SB ring.

  11. Tnoles Says:

Hey joe’s what happened to the free strectch? Just a break for the holidays? Just curious where Bobby is

  12. Wesley Says:

    Imagine 500,000 feeling meaningless.

  13. Leighroy Says:

Tough to believe $500,000 may feel meaningless to Suh. Another way to think of it is his salary is 8 mil, right? If you were making 80k this year and someone floated a 5 grand performance bonus in front of your nose, you wouldn’t view that as meaningless (regardless of your net worth) would you? I sure wouldn’t!

  14. DaBux Says:

Just think what could have been if we had drafted Suh instead of the Pillsbury Slow Boy.

  15. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Leighroy

I hear you and don’t disagree but that’s because we have been working slobs where and 80,000 salary isn’t half bad and 5,000 would be very meaningful.

But once you’ve passed that first million it’s all down to baubles and ego. There is only so much you can do with money.

Put it this way…people who get even 500,000 a year look down on 80,000.

  16. PatsBucsfan4years Says:

    Any word on Mike Evans?

  17. Dbiggestbucfanever88 Says:

didn’t particularly like the guy when he first came to the bucs but hes definitely changed my opinion of him seems to be a constant pro and teammate so good for him “GO BUCS”

  18. Todd Says:

Can someone help me understand 1. Why we are playing on Saturday and 2. Why are we playing in Washington we have a much better record and we are playing a lower seed. I am a bit confused. Go bucsssss

  19. Joe Says:

    1. Why we are playing on Saturday

    TV.

    2. Why are we playing in Washington we have a much better record and we are playing a lower seed.

Redskins won their division. Bucs are not the higher seed.

  20. Listnfrmafar Says:

Haha Suh is one of those guys like Chase Young that has called Brady out for years. Nice to k now the mean big fella is a academic. Many look at him as just a big o nasty man. In the past he had a reputation of quitting early, don’t see that this year seems vested (no pun intended). Great guy to have on Bucs going I to playoffs. Go Suh, think of how many shares of Apple you could get for a SB ring for?
