Angry Runs And Vita Vea

January 28th, 2021

Bucs get scepter (again).

There is a highly-caffeinated weekly segment on “Good Morning Football” where Kyle Brandt and the gang at the breakfast table award a scepter to a player with the angriest run.

Not coincidently, the segment is called “Angry Runs.”

As the name suggests, it’s almost always awarded to a running back that goes Mike Alstott on people. In the playoffs, however, this segment and qualifications for the award open up to all players.

Last week Devin White got the scepter when, on a interception, he damn near Conti’ed Marquez Calloway of the Saints.

This week, in his first game back after busting up his ankle in Chicago, nose tackle Vita Vea was just a force unleashed on the Packers.

In one particular play, Vea pancaked Packers center Corey Linsley on a bull rush. Brandt was so impressed, and so was the gang at the breakfast table, that Vea was awarded the scepter for that play.

Said NFL Network it-girl Kay Adams, “Didn’t like Vita Vea have an injury where we didn’t think we would see him until next year? Didn’t he break his leg or something? Not supposed to see him again this year? Broken leg or something crazy like that? Yeah, Vita Vea gets the Angry Run scepter.”

Added Brandt, “Vita Vea is coming for you Mr. Mahomes!”

Vita Vea and company are going to have a little competition with the Chiefs. The Chiefs’ Super Bowl lineup for their starting lineup is going to undrafted journeyman Mike Remmers at left tackle, and undrafted Andrew Wylie at right tackle. Seventh round Nick Allegretti will start at left guard and another seventh round, Austin Reiter will be at center. Journey man and second stringer Steffen Wisniewski will come off the bench to start at right guard. I don’t think Mchomes is going to stay in the pocket that long. Should be fun watching.

  2. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Forgot to mention both of their starting tackles are out with season ending injuries.

Dang. I knew about their tackles who were their best olineman
Bit had No clue about the other “journeymen”
Win the trenches is name of game

Reid will have to scheme quick passes or rolling out mahommes
Glad our front 7 is back and we are so fast. So i like our chances. Vea and suh will push that line right into mahommes. Will mahommes try to get out left or right. Jpp and barrett can feast

  4. SOEbuc Says:

On a dry spout of getting to the QB. Vea returns and we get five sacks on Rodgers. Mahomes better be ready to ditch the pocket every down.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We should never underestimate a backup’s capability (Stinnie)……but in this case, there are multiple backups….I think we will be able to put great pressure on Mahomes….especially with “The Beast” back.

Now, here’s the question…..”Can we contain him when he leaves the pocket?”

  6. JimbobBucsFan Says:

Playoff Lennie might have got the nod for his determination to get into the end zone also!

  7. mg Says:

What a segment, give that guy a sedative!

  8. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Kyle is a …….. dare I say……douchebag.

  9. OBF Says:

VV was used as a short yardage goal line run blocker in 2019 if I recall correctly. I remember seeing that block during the game, a thing of beauty!

  10. Jmarkbuc Says:

Just need Suh to step on Mahomes’ toe. Once .

  11. BradyBucs Says:

    QUESTION…

    Is Lavonte David HURT?

Haven’t seen much discussion about him. Apparently he missed practice due to a hamstring injury. David had some hamstring issues in the past.

  12. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Bradybucs

Don’t know if he’s actually hurt…not gonna get straight answers until game time. IMO, more than likely veteran rest. Either way nothing is gonna stop him from playing in the SB. Nothing.

  13. m0j0 Says:

All I know is it’s open season on Mahomes, he better up his life insurance. The Bucs D line is coming in force.

  14. DaBux Says:

Man, Vea is going to be fired up next week. Can’t wait.

  15. tbbucs3 Says:

Bucs need to smack Mahomes in the mouth and give him a welcome to the NFL moment. Hes been on his honeymoon for too long now.

  16. TheBradyBunch Says:

Oh my god, that is three minutes of my life I will never get back. I stopped half way through. Complete and utter garbage TV filler. Damn, I had no idea what trash that show is because I have never watched it. I have only seen it on mute for Kay. Lost a lot of respect for Joe as he seems to avidly watch this show and references it often. That was just cringeworthy garbage.

  17. WillieG Says:

This is why I read Joe Bucs. Yeah, y’all annoy the hell out of me with all stupid, unfunny, and overused nicknames but you do a great job of keeping me informed so I don’t have to suffer through hours and hours of NFL Network and ESPN shows where the hosts think they’re the reason people tune in. I want information, not theatrics. Thanks Joe(s)!

  18. Lokog Says:

    Conti’ed? Hahahaha

  19. Ben the GA Buc Says:

That guy needs to lay off the caffeine!

  20. Swampbuc Says:

I am literally ROTFLMAO. That was the most hilarious segment yet. Kyle Brandt might deserve an Emmy. “Put Vita on a horse, but be careful with the horse, it better be a Clydesdale”. Oh man. That laugh felt good.

  21. David Says:

    “It better be a Clydesdale!”
    LoL 😂

  22. David Says:

I just wanna go on record, I think Shaq and JPP Will be teeing off on those back up tackles all day and Vita Vea will be dominating the center and a guard….
But I have a feeling Suh is going to unleash. He’s been very good, he is coming in very healthy and he’s hearing everyone talked about but him.

All about the D line keeping Mahomes in check an uncomfortable

  23. Buczilla Says:

Vita is already one of my favorite Buc’s ever and he is a blast to watch.

  24. Joe Says:

“Good Morning Football” is one of the highest rated sports shows on weekday mornings on cable. If you hate Joe for liking it, you hate America.

The entire two-hour show is not “Angry Runs.”

  25. FortMyersDave Says:

I am beginning to like Kyle Brandt, Nate Burleson, the obviously beautiful Kay Adams and that Schrager guy. Brandt used to simply be comic relief on the Rome show about 10 to 15 years ago; letting horrible texts onto the show, telling stories about plugging up some guy’s toilet and running away while house hunting and calling the Rome show while mega-drunk @ a Cubs game…. Definitely like the guy better now as seems to appreciate what the Bucs are doing now!

BTW Vita Vea is simply a beast!!!! The dude looks like he is dialed in and has his eye on the prize.

  26. Show Me the TDs Says:

“hate America”. Haha. Love that, Joe! Sounds like something I would say.

  27. Brandon Says:

That is the corniest segment in TV… and I love it!

  28. mg Says:

Agree with WillieG, appreciate the Joe’s doing all the hard work.
