Scared Of The Bucs

December 20th, 2020

Talkin’ Bucs.

There probably are few bigger fans of the Bucs than former Bucs quarterback Shaun King.

And why is that? It’s because King, one of only three quarterbacks ever to lead the Bucs to an NFC Championship game, has skin in the game.

King grew up in St. Petersburg. The Bucs were his team as long as he can remember. He often talks about how he used to duck out of church services and Sunday school to sneak a glance at Bucs games on TV and then get back before he was caught.

Then he goes on to play for the Bucs. With strong success.

So when King says there is something that scares him about the Bucs, it’s not like he’s some hater from Philadelphia trying to rile up Bucs fans. It’s coming from his heart.

Want evidence? King always refers to the Bucs as “we.”

And what scares King is how inconsistent the Bucs are, so he told Ian Beckles in a recent edition of Beckles’ podcast, “In the Trenches.”

“Lack of consistency. In every area,” King said. “There are stretches that we play elite. Where we play with a high level of energy, a high level of intensity and have great production and then have lulls in that same game where we look like a team that should not make the playoffs.”

King added that NFL history shows a team has to show consistency during the regular season in order to “hoist the Lombardi Trophy” after the season.

“But it is much better to win and have to try to figure it out than to lose.”

Joe doesn’t think you will see the Bucs with consistency today. Aside from a couple of early games, the Bucs have been nothing but inconsistent. Why should we expect that to happen with a snap of the fingers in late December?

And Joe thinks King is right. The Bucs find ways to win, and that’s good! But they are inconsistent. And it is a stretch to see an inconsistent team racking up three straight wins against the best NFC teams in the playoffs in order to make it to the Super Bowl.

Fair assessment but King could say the same thing for every team. Saints looked bad in Philly, Packers looked meh vs the Panthers yesterday and the Bucs busted them up earlier, Seattle lost to the Giants, KC has won but man the Fins pushed them hard and are they an elite team? What King said is true but is any team this season consistent every darned game????

King, one of only three quarterbacks in the history of the NFL to lead the Bucs to an NFC Championship game

King is also one of the two quarterbacks to lose a NFC Championship game when his defense gave up only 9 points….

Great memories there of one of the best defensive games we ever saw. If it wasn’t for a great catch in the end zone, our great team of the late nineties and early two thousands would have won 2 superbowls. Does anyone really think the NFL did not want the Rams to win that Superbowl? Go look at the calls.

If we somehow make the NFC championship this year, we know the defense will give up more than 9 points. A lot more.

Don’t even get me started on the Bert Emanuel catch

Every team in the league is looking for consistency because literally every team in the leak has proven to be exceptionally leaky. Green Bay had like 20 yards in second half yesterday, they have moments of getting manhandled. Don’t get me started on Steelers who can’t run the ball to save their live and somehow can’t go down field, EVER. The Chiefs, Rams, Seahawks with their poor online. Some PLEASE name me a dominant team. There isn’t one, not even close. We have a 43 yr old at quarterback who’s on pace to go something like 37/14 with 4400 yards with a winning record and we act like entitled little TW-AHHHTS like we should be smoking people golden state warrior style.

Just ONCE, I’d like a play action on first down, when literally EVERYONE in the world is expecting us to run up the middle for 2 yards

So tru. We need to be consistent. And not consistent at making mistakes lol let’s go Bucs

  11. B Says:

That’s weird cause when Shaun was a quart back I would duck out of Bucs games to go to church services….

There probably aren’t too many bigger Bucs fans than Shaun King. He has gotten huge. He could probably be guessed as an offensive tackle if someone were to guess his position without knowing he once played quarterback.
