Ronald Jones Off COVID List

December 29th, 2020

Joe will keep this simple. Ronald Jones is off the NFL’s virus reserve list, ending his 13-day hiatus because of The Sickness. So now the Bucs can examine him to determine the state of his surgically-repaired finger.

As Bucco Bruce Arians has said many times, if RoJo can’t protect himself (and the ball) with his bad hand, he is unlikely to play.

Two years ago…I never would have thought this…but he does resemble fellow #27 Legarrette Blount. Blount gained 1005 yards and averaged 5 yards per carry his first season…something Jones is closing in on. A credit to this young man and the current coaching staff.

  2. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

If he can’t go, he can’t go. It’s more important he can start in the playoffs than get 1,000 yards.

  3. Buc50 Says:

For two years we heard nothing but potential and had glimpses. This year, ROJO delivered in spades as his potential replacement was signed. He deserves to get his 1000 yards.

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Not concerned at all about Rojo’s 1000 yds….he’s proven he can run…..I absolutely want Mike to get his 1000….

  5. SOEbuc Says:

We’re in the playoffs and playing a not so good team at home. Save him for the playoffs and test out your future #2 RB in Vaughn. How bad ass would it be for him to have another great game going into the playoffs. Glazers will not allow dumb ass coaching to give Fournette the most amount of carries, which would still be minimal. You look at the numbers for RoJo and the disgrace of the number of carries they gave him. He might have had 1200 yards before he went down.

    TBBF

39 Yards!!! You have added so much excitement to my crappy team over the years. Mike my boy for life. You and other one Buc vets (LVD, Gholston, Ali, Cam) time to show up. GET BIG!!!

Is there contact bonus $$$ at stake?
Should be able to splint and tape it to the next finger. I guess that is what they’ll be testing
But would like to see Vaughn and his power burst a little more.. they really can’t duplicate that in practice… let see what he brings to the RB options

  8. Hodad Says:

No upside to playing Jones this week. If I was the coach I would sit as many starters as possible.

  9. Mitch Says:

Glad to read. Hope he plays and both he and Mike get their 1K. Likewise I hope the team continues its strong play in December to lock up the 5th seed and play the NFC East in the playoffs.

Lol .. funny reading resting starters and then play TB… pound the rock and burn the clock … Atlanta will be coming to kick ass Dirk is still going to try and school White

  11. Godlovesbucs Says:

Give him 5 or sk carrries to test out his hand. Let vaughn run the bulk of the carries. I want him to trust his hand in the playoffs, we will need him.

Maybe the bum finger will force RoJo to concentrate on catching the ball

  13. Buc50 Says:

Can’t sit anyone. Getting 5th seed is huge.

  14. Cobraboy Says:

I agree with Buc50: take nothing for granted and nail down the #5. Nothing else matters.

  15. Clean House Says:

I hope they check out his cardio if he had covid.

  16. David Says:

As much as I’d like to see him get 1000 yards, healing the hand for the playoffs is more important. I’d like to see more of the rookie

  17. David Says:

Keep hearing about long-term effects from Covid but there have been plenty of NBA, NHL, MLB, and NFL players sit out a couple weeks with The China virus and come back just fine so far

  18. Joe Says:

    David:

Myles Garrett said he’s still effed up and is not 100 percent. Can’t remember the specific thing that is wrong.

  19. David Says:

    Joe… lack of helmet?
    Just kidding.

I know it can suck, my point was it seems that it has not affected people in damn good shape, for the most part anyway.
Fingers crossed that the Bucs go into the playoffs healthy!

  20. Bucsfanman Says:

Well, to be so close to 1,000 yards and possibly have to sit is disappointing. Could be contract bonuses not reached, etc.
That said, it’s more important for us to have a healthy backfield going in to the playoffs.
If I haven’t gone on record as saying so, please allow me:

    I WAS WRONG ABOUT ROJO!

It’s been a treat watching this kid blossom.
