One Buccaneer Named To The 2021 Pro Bowl

December 21st, 2020

The votes of coaches, players and fans have been tabulated, and the Buccaneers have one Pro Bowler on their roster

Sorry, Lavonte!

Congratulations to Jason Pierre-Paul, the Buccaneers’ sacks leader (9.5), who also has had a special season with forced fumbles (4) and two interceptions. Not bad for a guy who blew digits off his hand a few summers ago.

Its JPP’s first Pro Bowl nod since 2012.

All those night games and mass exposure didn’t do squat for the Pro Bowl candidacies of Lavonte David and Devin White. At the inside linebacker position for the NFC team, Bobby Wagner was named there to his seventh Pro Bowl and 49ers middle linebacker Fred Warner is a first-timer.

Joe’s not sure what this says about the Bucs roster, but it’s over. There is no actual Pro Bowl game because of The Sickness, so there are no alternates to the teams and there will be no late additions.

This has to be extra special for JPP, who is only in his second season as an outside linebacker and has talked about the adjustment to the position.

    Only 1…wow!!

  2. Bucsfan1988 Says:

The Pro-Bowl is a big giant JOKE now….

Waste of time if the true ballers aren’t being selected…

We should have Wirfs, Devon White, & Rojo on there….

  3. Buc-y-do. Says:

It’s all about wins and championships.

  4. DBS Says:

great. I know this really has to piss tampax off. He can’t stand stand him. Congrats JPP.

  5. Wesley Says:

Pro Bowl is a complete joke.

  6. Frankinthe813 Says:

All Pro > Pro Bowl all day

  7. Tampabuscsbro Says:

This is a joke. Once again this proves to be a popularity contest

  8. Tampabuscsbro Says:

No seriously how does Fred Warner make it in over Lavonte and Devin White.

  9. Infomeplease Says:

You deserve it JPP!!! To bad Lavante and Devin weren’t named too.

  10. catcard202 Says:

That my friends, is some bull-schitt!
But the disrespect should be motivational.

  11. Robert Says:

    he deserves it. congrats.

  12. Buckin ayee Says:

Jpp has been the Mvp of the defense this year for sure. LVD hasn’t had his best year and Devin White is streaky plus can’t cover great. Rojo can’t catch, recivers have looked meh most of the year. This team is pretty boring tbh, and have blown too many prime time games. A lot of no-shows from our best players when the nation was watching. That and this team dissappearing for halfs of football, i can see why the Bucs have only 1 Probowler. That being said Whirfs got screwed.

  13. EA Says:

What the GOAT didn’t make the probowl ??? Other teams better watch out!!!

  14. Defense Rules Says:

Hopefully those Bucs who missed out will use this to create a chip on their shoulder and lead us to a Super Bowl win. THAT’S what payback looks like.

  15. Gofortheface30 Says:

Yes the all pro is a higher honor, but let’s not act like any Bucs would be named all pro either. Fred Warner is the best middle linebacker in the game right now bar none, with Bobby Wagner known as the best for years before Warner unofficially took that title. This rules out the only Bucs with a sliver of a chance. The Bucs have a lot of good players. But they do not have top 2 at any one position. Wirfs might be there in the next few years, maybe Winfield

  16. Drunkinybor Says:

This is GREAT news!! All the players on our team who got SNUBBED are going to absolutely bring it these last few games and into the playoffs. I feel bad for the guys but being human this is like getting a dose of straight motivation into the vein. Prove them haters and doubters wrong. Go Bucs!!!

  17. Wesley Says:

    Wagner is soooooooo overrated.

  18. Jim Says:

    Congratulations, Big Guy,..you deserve it!

  19. Lamarcus Guiton Says:

I told yall already. Its an overrated bunch. They are only great in Bucs fans eyes

  20. Pewter941 Says:

This should be extra motivation for the guys.

  21. Gofortheface30 Says:

Yes agree with Wagner – he hasn’t be a real force in a few years and his play has declined. His pro bowl selection was in reputation. Same goes for honey badger – he hasn’t exactly graded out as upper tier safety. Frankly I think our best football right now, and had been for the past 5 years is Mike Evans. But receiver is such a crowded position with so many great players. As great as evans has been, he STILL has been underutilized – I’d love to see him get Davante Adam’s type targets

  22. SlyPirate Says:

All-Pro teams are more interesting than the Pro Bowl. It’ll be curious to see how many Bucs make 1st and 2nd team.

  23. Jeffbuc Says:

Go for the face 30. White 130 tackles warner 101. White 8 sacks warner 0. White 16 tfl warner 5. White 4 pass defensed warner 3. Warner 2 int white 0. White 1 ff warner 0. So how is warner the best mlb hands down in nfl. He has 29 less tackles and 8 less sacks than white in the same amount of games. I’m confused on your thinking. Is it because pro football said warner is the best. Or do the stats lie. Warner beats white in 1 stat one more interception. But is 8 behind in sacks 29 in tackles. So help me understand why you think warner is the best mlb in football.

  24. ModHairKen Says:

Well, just win the Super Bowl.

  25. Buc Bro Says:

Well when the team has 4 prime time games and a few other 4:25 starts and the majority of the time they are showcased they look embarrassing what do you expect?

This defense is not very good in those matchups. Play better and you get the recognition, it’s easy. Lose to Nick Foles, Goff, and get lit up on D by an aging Brees and you won’t get any respect.

  26. Darin Says:

Devin white doesn’t deserve it fellas. He does talk a big game though.

  27. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Buc bro

    Yup

  28. SOEbuc Says:

The Pro Bowl in general has always been a joke. There’s not even a game this year so what t

  29. Aceofaerospace Says:

We should all give JPP a hand for such a great accomplishment.

  30. SOEbuc Says:

*so what is the point. Lame.

  31. Dbbuc Says:

The Bucs need to work hard to win every raining game.
In the immortal words (or close to them) of Ronde Barber
” To heck with the Pro Bowl, I’m going to the Super Bowl” 😃

  32. gotbbucs Says:

Does anyone really care about this anymore? Half the players deserve it, the other half are there because most casual fans have no idea what they’re actually watching on the field and recognize a name.

  33. Todd Says:

    @Jeffbuc

    Excellent analysis. Excellent. Thank you.

  34. bojim Says:

    ;-(

  35. SCBucsFan Says:

I’ll keep asking where are the idiots who said this guy should’ve been cut last year? They all seem to have crawled back under rocks.

  36. Mike Johnson Says:

Buc fans are as delusional as ..that imposter guy in DC. One is about right. This is a good team. Not even an excellent or superior one. There are 31 other teams with more deservedly better players than we have. So..suck it up,,face..The music.

  37. Mike Johnson Says:

Buc fans are as delusional as ..that imposter guy in charge on a national level. One pro bowler is about right. This is a good team. Not even an excellent or superior one. There are 31 other teams with more deservedly better players than we have. So..suck it up,,face..The music.

  38. Leighroy Says:

But but but but Alex Cappa was the top NFC fan vote at guard!

  39. Reddington Neck Shores Says:

See how deep they go in the playoffs. That will separate the wheat from the chaff. If one and done they got it right. If we go deep either it was on the back of Brady or we had a bunch of underestimated guys. Either way that’s disrespectful to the Bucs, unless they lose.

  40. m0j0 Says:

All I can say is thank you pro bowl voters! This is going to motivate the whole team!

  41. Bucnrs76 Says:

Show up in prime time and don’t look like crap helps a lot

  42. stpetebucsfan Says:

What D.R. said. This is great fuel for motivation. Our two linebackers both like and respect each other and they are going to feed off of each other’s rejection.

  43. JGhotier Says:

Pro Bowl is so meaningless these days now anyways due to the formatting of selections and it leaning heavily towards a popularity contest anyways. The Pro Bowl in the last several years has actually made the NFL seem laughable and incompetent due to the voting results being so silly and biased most of the time. Nobody really cares about the Pro Bowl anymore anyways!

  44. Mort Says:

Here’s your motivation for the rest of the year guys!

  45. ncbucsfan Says:

Yeah, the Fred Warner over Devin or Lavonte is the biggest joke on this one. I mean, he’s statistically inferior and the team is garbage this year. It makes absolutely NO SENSE AT ALL!!!

  46. Sport Says:

Time for me to eat some crow. I thought we’d see a couple on D and a few on O. The poor/inconsistent play of our playoff marching team did look good in any of our national games except Green Bay.

    In BA I Trust!

  47. Jerry Says:

They absolutely stunk on national TV. What did you expect?

  48. adam from ny Says:

this might light a fire under their azz moving forward…

    at least a couple snubs…

what about big alex cappa leading all voters at his position….???

  49. Cannon Says:

This is the the result of that last Saint’s game.

  50. Rod Munch Says:

Wait — Cappa, White and Davis were all the leading vote getters at their positions according to fan voting.

While I hate to see the Bucs have such pitiful representation, I am happy to learn that fan voting means nothing. 99% of fans are complete tards and should never have a say in anything – and that apparently is the case here. So all you fellas that spent hours stuffing the online ballot box – look at what it got you.

  51. Rod Munch Says:

The Bucs stunk in their prime time games, that’s why no one got in except JPP. We know pro-bowl voters are only slightly smarter than the idiot fans, all they do is look at box scores. But when every time you have a national stage you stink, that’s going to stick with you.

  52. D-Rome Says:

Makes sense to me. If you are being objective then which Buccaneer has really shined all seasonand set themselves apart from everyone else in their position? Apart from Brady I can’t think of too many others. I think Brady is a top 3 QB in the NFC. Everyone else on offense has had a down year. Everyone on defense with the exception of JPP has had a down year if only looking at stats.

  53. Rod Munch Says:

D-Rome – Brady and Murray have similar passing stats, they’re pretty close, Brady is a bit in front, but not all that much. However Murray has over 700 yards rushing and 11 TDs on the ground – you have to count that.

You can’t remove Rodgers or Wilson either, so its Brady vs Murray, and let the kid have it, he’s had an amazing year – and I think Brady will survive, and hopefully be really p/o’d.

  54. August 1976 Buc Says:

It never helps players get any recognition when team plays crappy on the big stage. Every loss was a national broadcast or had the network’s #1 team doing the game. So many people have watched the Bucs crap in the Bed multiple times this year. Glad to see JPP get in. GO BUCS!!!

  55. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Congrats to JPP for being named to the Doesn’t Matter Bowl.

  56. DBS Says:

Munch we will include you in that 99%. I guarantee you are not all you think you are.

  57. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

It’s a popularity contest but when you crap your pants i 4 primetime games, guess what happens.

  58. cmurda Says:

Devin White has Fred Warner beat in every freaking category by a mile. Damn liberals voting in Fred Warner. Who?

  59. Buczilla Says:

JPP is deserving so congratulations to him. Wirfs should have easily made it in. Fred Warner is a nice player, but his numbers this year are very “Barrett Ruud” like and Wagner has been overrated from day one. White and David were totally screwed, but that’s to be expected when it comes to our players.
