Odds For The Playoffs

December 9th, 2020

Math.

It is time to see how the calculator crowd views the Bucs’ chances of making the playoffs.

Joe will lead off with the fine folks at FootballOutsiders.com. They seem to like the Bucs’ odds, calculating a 91 percent chance of making the playoffs.

At PlayoffStatus.com, they have with Bucs with a slightly lesser shot, at 86 percent.

The New York Times isn’t quite as bullish. It lists the Bucs with an 80 percent shot of playing meaningful ball in January.

Noted political guessers FiveThirtyEight.com seem to think the Bucs are a good bet at the playoffs with an 84 percent chance.

Over at TheRinger.com, the Bucs are given an 82 percent chance of breaking their playoff drought.

Joe just knows one thing, all of these percentages may not be worth a bucket of hooey if the Bucs choke like dogs against the Vikings on Sunday.

They are definitely making the playoffs. My guess is they win 3 out of their last 4 for a 10 win season. They have a good chance of getting 11 wins, and they probably need that to get the first wild-card spot. That would be a big plus because then they would play the NFC East winner.

Again………the F does it matter who you play when??? The Idea of your team being the best is the one that can run the Gauntlet. Out scheme or simply out bench the next team.
    Sh ! t………… This isn’t college

You want the 5 or 6 seed. 7th will be playing either the saints or packers. If we get through id like a crack at the saints again if i were a player on the bucs.

Well with 4 games to go in seasons past the Bucs could surely not afford to lose another game falling to 6 losses and not make the playoffs. In fact it happened with Rah’s team @10-6. Luckily for them the playoff expansion will allow one more loss but anymore than that and this team is hinging on a prayer. Yep this Viking game is crucial and hopefully the Buc hierarchy is fully engaged because chances are it will be an even split with the Dixie Chicks.

Making the playoffs with 7 losses would be a downright miracle.

With the inept DBs, I fear another loss this week. They have hit the wall and seem to be a sieve right now. The front 7 need to pull off a sack every passing down to prevent a passing disaster.

  6. Buc50 Says:

I don’t want the Saints again. It’s a bad match-up right now for us so I would rather play the Packers.

  7. PLAY OFFS? PLAY OFFS? Says:

One and done with Byron Leftwich a failed QB ( and now one can add a failed offensive coordinator to his list of failures) as the man who tries to direct a SIX time Super Bowl winning QB the GOAT! What a joke!

  8. Cobraboy Says:

What were the odds of making the playoffs in 2008 when the team was 9-3?

  9. Michael Pengelly Says:

I like our chances vs the run with the Vikes but a soft zone and their QB will eat our lunch as other teams (LA, NO) did.
