New COVID Rule Bad For Bucs?

December 16th, 2020

Possible status update via NFL memo

Yesterday it was learned that three special teams figures who spend a lot of time at One Buc Palace together, kicker Ryan Succop, punter Bradley Pinion and long snapper Zach Triner, were placed on the COVID/reserved list.

The list is for players who either tested positive or came into contact with someone who tested positive.

Shortly after the Bucs released this information, the NFL released a memo to teams tightening the COVID rules to prevent a potential COVID bloom among teams as we enter the stretch run for the playoffs. The holiday season is in full swing, so where family and work gatherings are more commonplace.

Per NFL Network scribe Tom Pelissero, the NFL memo says even those who tested positive but are asymptomatic must stay away from the team for 10 full days.

Previously, all players had to do was test negative for two straight days and they were off the COVID list.

.

So that suggests that the three specialists listed above will be away from the team at least until Christmas, putting their availability for the Lions game at the Den of Depression on Dec. 26 in peril.

Man, Joe just hates this. Not just for the players involved, but specifically for the Bucs. Succop was so damn dependable he made kicking boring again.

99.7% survival rate. No professional athlete has died from this, and there’s no evidence it’s even spread from sporting events. Such an absolute joke, and I guarantee Jerry Jones would be calling Rodger Goodell over this garbage. Shame our owners don’t care.

  2. Joe in Michigan Says:

The December 26th game is at the “Lion’s Den” of Depression, I was going to go to that game if we could do such things.

  3. BucNorth Says:

Joe was so excited to write Den of Depression that he didn’t realize the game wasn’t in TAMPA! WHO does the stat checking?

  4. Cobraboy Says:

    10 days?

    What a pile of horses#!t!

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Perhaps only one of the three tested positive…..the players testing positive are the ones subject to the 10 days….pick your player?

Do we have a decent backup punter/long snapper?

  6. Defense Rules Says:

“NFL memo says even those who tested positive but are asymptomatic must stay away from the team for 10 full days.”

This just seems to get even more confusing. Did one of the three test positive? Did he test positive once or more than once? Is he asymptomatic or is he showing symptoms? When was the initial testing actually done & when does the ‘clock’ actually start?

Too many facts still missing it would seem for any of us to know if all three will be affected by the new rule for the full 10 days. Hopefully not.

And WesternBuc, none of us like the quarantine rules associated with ‘The Sickness’, and yes the survival rate of healthy young men with no underlying conditions (like professional football players?) is extremely high. But I’d guess that the NFL is just trying to ensure that it doesn’t spread like wildfire among the teams at this point & destroy the season. Like it’s spreading in many places our society right now? It sucks, but to have to shut down a whole team or multiple teams would be even worse.

  7. Marine Buc Says:

I’m so sick of this Covid BS. How many false positive tests have there been? Over 85% of cases are asymptomatic. Average age of death is older than life expectancy.

A gift from China to the Marxist political tyrants taking over our country.

    Rant over. Back to football.

  8. TheBucsAnthem Says:

History will look back at this moment of the Covid realities and call the whole world a bunch of idiots because they did not handle it accordingly.

This much we know is true…………….and that Our so called Elected officials and people that are in power are making decisions not really based off of science………………..but off of fear.

Death is part of life and so is disease………..

But people’s lives have been ruined and changed forever…………………..and this doesn’t affect the people that are in power or are in positions that affect the changes brought upon them.

Never before in human history have we seen this…………….and the virus has been weaponized instead of being treated on a human scale.

In the end……………God will judge those who have hurt so many.

Its a good thing the guidelines say you can put a bunch of guys in a tiny room for hours but not go golfing out in the Florida sun or else the sickness will really take off and things will really get stupid.

You’re assuming they tested Positive! Did O miss an update that all 3 returned Positive tests?

  14. Buc50 Says:

Sick of COVID??? Wear your mask. If you still believe it’s just the flu, make sure you don’t get the vaccine when it’s available. Leave it for someone who thinks they need it.

  15. Capt Kidd Says:

No big deal, just the flu? Tell that to the Bills TE who developed heart swelling and will miss the season, same for Red Sox pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez

  16. ClodHopper Says:

We’re living in a country where half the people think if you’re wearing a mask you can be in a tiny room with people for hours and you won’t spread it. But also think being outside in the sun without a mask makes you a super spreader. And those same people think if you disagree you’re an idiot.

Those people need not be taken seriously.

  17. mark2001 Says:

    Deniers still deny…what a shock.

The 800 lb. gorilla the NFL is looking at is what happens if Covid effects a teams participation during the post season. There is no room to move games back, or get a break and victory as you can during the regular season because you are playing a weak team in which you can overcome the loss of one or two star players. Most major league sports have gone to playoff isolation. The NFL hasn’t. Let’s hope that that roll of the dice doesn’t result in crapping out, and the wheels don’t come off the process.

  18. Joe Says:

There is no room to move games back

    Yes there is. Plenty.

  19. Mitch Says:

99% do survive. However, we do not know the long term effects on the body. I know that there have been reports of stroke, neurological issues like Parkinsons, and heart problems like myocarditis occurring within two months of recovering from the virus. I also have read research speculating that the effects on a person depend on not only the person’s genetic make up but the genetic structure of the strain of COVID that has infected the person. There is no longer just one strain but there are now six confirmed strains of the coronavirus that mutated from the original to cause a different range of reactions from people.

As far as a vaccine is concerned I have not been a fan since 2011 when the Supreme Court deemed that manufacturers of vaccines are not liable for any injury they cause because they are quote “unavoidably unsafe.” Now the government just has a vaccine injury pay out program where since 2013 they have paid over 4 billion dollars to those suffering from vaccine injury. I am pro immunization just not pro losing my right to choose because of the ingredients they use for vaccines.

  20. Ftmyersbuc Says:

    Capt kidd
The flu has a higher death rate than covid for individuals under 24.
    This is a fact.
Show the flu some respect, it is deadlier to the athletes you listed. Fact.
You pointing out 2 rare cases is fear mongering.
When people say “its just a flu” what they mean is the reaction to covid has been taken as a softball by aspiring politicians.

“Look i just saved the world from a deadly pandemic” it’s like a fishing story, you know you caught a little ass fish but you blow it up and embellish it so it seems you caught jaws.
Look how many of these a-hole politicians are being awarded and writing books about how they saved us from a huge threat. The threat was a damn minnow and thier media lackeys are telling everyone it was a shark! Less than 30k people have only “covid” on thier death certificates the other 240k have at least 1 comorbidity listed.

  21. mark2001 Says:

Joe… if we have a wild card team and you a team unable to compete, will they they won’t move the wildcard rounds back a week or two, will they? And the divisional Rounds? And the Championship games? Sure…a day or two. But under this new protocol, seems like potentially it could be a big problem. 10 days…

  22. Joe Says:

    mark2001:

Joe can only go by what Pelissero reported (Arians will be available for questions later today so we will get clarifications of the COVID-3) but what you spelled out seems to be the case.

  27. Cobraboy Says:

CDC just officially admitted they have classified ALL flu, respiratory and pneumonia deaths as Covid.

Inflated numbers to drive the hysteria with the weak- minded and easily snookered.

  28. Cobraboy Says:

I, for one, will never take the vaccine.

  29. mark2001 Says:

On the other hand Cobra, one could also say that the numbers are likely higher because of the attempts of some political officials intentionally trying to under report the cases. It will be interesting to see what is uncovered on the other side of the worst of this disease.

  30. Cobraboy Says:

CDC also officially endorsed HCQ as a efficacious treatment. Wanna bet their former refusal cost 70-100,000 their lives, simply because Orange Man Bad?

Where I live HCQ and Ivermectin have been used consistency with excellent results, especially with Ivermectin.

  31. Sourbob Says:

I Dont think most “hoax” people feel its not real, they just feel that “its an automatic death sentence” to anyone is the hoax.

  32. SC Bucs Fan Says:

Cobraboy is Covid isn’t real then how did a lack of HCQ cause lives?

  33. gp Says:

The average time to produce a vaccine is roughly 4-5 years.
The (sickness) vaccine was produced and implemented in LESS than one year.
How, do you ask, was this possible?

A corona Vaccine has been in development since 2003..it was during and after SARS. Once we had the genetic material in January, they could tailor the earlier SARS Corona vaccine development research to COVID. My Son works in the field. Thank goodness we didn’t decide to sit on our hands after SARS…but we had a pretty good idea we hadn’t seen the last of new Corona viruses. Nor will Covid-19 likely be.

  37. geno711 Says:

    @westernbuc and @cobraboy.

I agree that the death rate for young people in this is very minimal – maybe equal to the flu or less than the flu.

However, it spreads easier than the flu. It also has been shown to cause myocarditis to some individuals just like the flu. That includes young individuals.

That is confirmed in Eduardo Rodriguez, a starting pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. That seems right now likely to Keyontae Johnson, the Gator basketball player although we are still waiting to hear that as definite. He collapsed and was actually put into a medically induced coma to recover.

I can tell you personally that I had a niece in Colorado who contracted Covid-19 in May. She is 24 and played softball in high school making her somewhat of an athlete. After she was diagnosed, they did not rush her to the hospital and give her Remdesivir. Instead, she was sent home and told to isolate. She recently was diagnosed with myocarditis.

Maybe it is ok for the Bucs and the NFL to take precautions.

  38. Dlavid Says:

Cobra boy you are on FIRE!

  39. Cobraboy Says:

@SC Bucs Fan: I, for one, have never said it is not “real.”

It is, as are a flu bugs.

It just is not as deadly as The Overlords want you to believe.

The CDC denied the use of HCQ off script for the CCP Flu, and numerous states—mainly prog controlled—threatened to pull the license of any doc who used it, based on CDC directives.

All along there were many positive reports and studies about it’s excellent properties, including those doctors who made their statements in their Capital-Steps video that social media banned.

So, yes, the CDC and numerous state gubmints are responsible for many, many thousands of deaths, maybe well over 100,000.

I saw the positive effects with my own eyes here in the Caribbean.

  40. unbelievable Says:

Oh wow, so if any of these guys tested positive, and weren’t just around someone who did, then the NFL just totally fked us, huh?

Meanwhile other teams got to reschedule their games, but not for the Bucs! Just forfeit your entire kicking special teams unit instead…

  45. gp Says:

In the psychology of human behavior, denialism is a person’s choice to deny reality as a way to avoid a psychologically uncomfortable truth. Denialism is an essentially irrational action that withholds the validation of a historical experience or event, when a person refuses to accept an empirically verifiable reality.

  46. Joe Says:

How many false positive tests have there been?

More important: How many false-negatives have their been?

  47. Cobraboy Says:

Fauci himself said on World TV that any PCR over 36 cycles will generate 99% false positives.

How many cycles do the current PCR’s for the CCP Flu undergo? Anyone? Bueller?

I can’t say I’m shocked at how much ignorance is going around. The Overlords appreciate your loyalty.

  56. Cobraboy Says:

@bkBucs: you are spewing Overlord taking points.

The CDC has pretty much admitted the CCP Flu #’s were cooked, because ALL flue, pneumonia and respiratory deaths are included as Covid.

May I suggest you seek better sources of news?

I have forgotten more about this exaggerated balony than you ever knew.

  57. Cobraboy Says:

For the first time in recorded history.

  58. UKBuccaneer Says:
