“Like It Wasn’t Really A Feeling I Was Accustomed To”

December 29th, 2020

Enjoy this look inside the Buccaneers’ locker room and the team mindset.

Joe sure did.

The comments come from a Buccaneer who knows an awful lot about losing and The Lost Decade, seventh-year Buccaneer Cameron Brate.

The tight end was chattering last night on the Buccaneers Radio Network and he was asked about the impact of Tom Brady.

Brate went deep.

“It was a huge adjustment within the organization, adding someone of his caliber to our team, bringing him into the building,” Brate said of signing Brady.

“It raised expectations immediately. Really, just, you know, everything kind of changed when we signed Tom, in a very positive way. I think the best example I can provide is probably early in the season, the Chargers game, we were down by 17 or 18, but it didn’t feel like we were down, like it it didn’t make any sense. Like it wasn’t really a feeling I was accustomed to, the feeling we had on the sideline. Because in years past, I mean shoot, you get down three possessions, it’s like, ‘I don’t know if we’re going to be able to come back from that.’ But this year, there was no question. There was no doubt in my mind, ‘like yeah, we’re going to end up winning the game. We’re going to figure it out. We got Tom Brady.’ And that’s happened multiple times.”

Brate went on to talk about the big comeback in Atlanta nine days ago and how the team “to a man” at halftime was highly confident they would win and there wasn’t much to say.

One nuance Brate shared really caught Joe’s attention.

“He can make the game so simple,” Brate said of Brady. “Just the way he kinds of sees the game and explains the game.” And Brate said he believes Brady has instilled that simplicity in everyone, which keeps things more relaxed.

Brate said previously that he, as a Harvard man, tended to overanalyze and make things more complex than they are. Brady, he said, has altered his view of the game and he’s playing his best ball right now.

Great stuff from Brate.

I can’t believe Brate is in his seventh season, time flies.

  2. mg Says:

    TB-12 makes everyone better.
I watched him do it for 20 years.
Very few hall of famers on the 6 super bowl winning teams.
    Go Bucs.

  3. Defense Rules Says:

Years from now every one of these Buccaneers will be able to say “I got to play on the same team as Tom Brady”.

Just think how special it’ll be to add “And oh ya, we won the 2020 Super Bowl together”.

  4. '79 Defense Says:

Here’s hoping they don’t have to overcome any more 17 point deficits for the next five games.

  5. Buc Bro Says:

When you have a Qb you as a teammate can trust and know gives you a chance to win every week it gives you that confidence that no deficit is too big to overcome

  6. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Tom Brady is certainly a culture changer who is not used to losing.

    BL is working magic!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  8. Casual Observer Says:

Keep Brady at all costs! As a player, a coach, a GM, or an owner.

And to think there are some fans that have not enjoyed this season thus far. It’s fun being relevant again. It’s fun having all the annoying national pundits debate about us. Only thing missing is a packed out Den of Depression. Can’t wait to have Ray Jay rocking again like the good ol days. I live in Atlanta and have had so much fun rocking Bucs gear everywhere this year. Let’s go get ring number 7 TB!!

  10. An Erection For Sacks Says:

Like, see? Like, even a Harvard-educated person, like, can sound like an idiot.

  11. bkBucsFan Says:

Not as stupid as someone who has chosen to refer to themselves as a penis…

  12. SlyPirate Says:

    813bucboi, “BL is working magic!!!!”

That’s funny. Remaining the OC is the only magic trick BL is working.

  13. An Erection For Sacks Says:

@bkBucsFan: You should be careful, those are Joe’s words that I’ve chosen to be my new screen name. He might take offense to your words. (lol)

And you’re still wrong, btw. It’s not nearly as stupid. (BTW, I wrote “idiot”, YOU wrote “stupid”.) I merely chose a screen name, he chooses to speak (at times) as though he’s uneducated. For a Harvard grad, that’s shameful. CB84 will very likely have a GREAT life after football. His ivy-league education and his net worth almost assures it. He’ll likely set up some sort of foundation that benefits the general public. By all accounts, he’s a stand-up guy. That doesn’t place him above scrutiny.

    Be well, fellow Bucs fan.

  14. Clean House Says:

They better get up with some leads in the playoffs- relying on comebacks is a Recipe for disaster. No matter who you have.

  15. 813bucboi Says:

    sly

OC?….BL will be an HC next year…

looks like you have to find another scapegoat…lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  16. Festus Hagen Says:

Ray Lewis said in an interview a few years ago that Brady was the most basic QB he ever played against. See weakness , exploit weakness. It’s on YouTube and it’s very interesting.

  17. orlbucfan Says:

The MVP award (if Bucs go all the way) belongs to the entire offense. M12 wouldn’t still be standing if it wasn’t for this offense.

  18. teacherman777 Says:

    @casual observer

    exactly!

    Keep Tom Brady forever!

Sign him to a 20 year deal after he retires at 45.

20 year deal. 200 million dollars.

The Glazers will not regret it!!
