Leveling RoJo’s Evaluation Field

December 3rd, 2020

Big time

It’s hard for Joe to get too excited for a bye weekend without a fridge full of Big Storm beer or a co-ed pool party invitation.

However, Joe has been looking forward to one lost aspect of this Week 13 in the NFL.

Only two teams have not had a bye week: Tampa Bay and Carolina. Yeah, it’s been weird year for the bye (and for everything else).

So after this game week, season-total stats around the NFL finally will be a level playing field. A lot of Bucs have good total numbers in various areas, but this is the week to really compare them.

That brings Joe to Ronald Jones, the huge surprise of the Bucs’ season. First, he’s a surprise because he’s averaging a whopping 5.1 yards per carry, and throw in that he’s made Leonard Fournette look bad and that somehow Jones’ receiving hands got worse. Joe wouldn’t have bet on any of those three things happening in 2020.

As of today, Jones ranks No. 4 in the NFL in rushing yards with 820. But remember, he’s a game ahead of the pack.

By Joe’s quick math, Jones is a lock to rank at least No. 9 in rushing among running backs after the Week 13 slate of games. More likely, he’ll be No. 6 or No. 7 overall and second- or third-best in the NFC behind Dalvin Cook.

That will be an amazing accomplishment for RoJo. Joe is fired up for the guy and Joe keeps logging Pro Bowl votes for him, something he’s earned on the field.

Now just imagine if the Bucs didn’t get away from the run so quickly in games that RoJo was thriving. Again, Joe’s happy for RoJo; he got it right when he put his foot down back in February.

A lot of players to be excited about …
    1. Rojo. 0 to Hero. He’s getting better each game.
    2. Wirfs. Possibly the best player on the team.
    3. Davis and White. Young, talented, tons of room to grow.
    4. Winfield Jr. #4 could be #1 if you think back to how bad S play has been.

Would love to see Saleh or Bieniemy as our new HC.

    Always liked Rojo…..

    He runs hard & when there’s a hole….he gets great results…

    He also cares…..keeps improving….still young….GO ROJO…

Yes to Saleh, Bienemy, or McDaniels.

Only some are surprised. If he got as many carries a game as workhorse running backs lke aapn jones and josh jacobs Ezekiel elliot Derrick henry he would be tops in the league.

This team screwed up signing fournette and Brown because rather than having them.as outstanding depth and sprinkling them in for big plays they have replaced already effiecient players with their lesser production. ( Ronald Ronald.Jones and Scotty Miller.

I hope this coaching staff pulls their heads out of their asses next week on both sides of the ball and get back to big boy football. Arians has to be doing close to the worst job possible considering what he has to work with.

Now imagine if the team actually does some decent self evaluation during the bye and pulls their collective heads out of their stink holes and focuses the offense on running the ball?

    Wouldn’t that be special?

It’s hard to have a good deep passing game when you refuse to threaten with a rushing game, thus increasing the effectiveness of a play action pass, but WTF do I know.

Fournette’s receiving numbers worse than Dare’s numbers last year. If you subtract his 46 yard rush, his rushing ypc numbers are about the same as Peyton Barbers. Why does he steal touches from Jones? Jones has proven that he needs carries to be productive. This last week was one of the few games where he has had under 10 carries and averaged above 4.0 ypc. Yes, he drops the ball more than I would like. And he is an average pass blocker. But when he gets the ball he runs hard and has the ability to turn anything into a td, as we saw from his catch last week. He should be the primary back and Vaughn the 3rd down back.

Let Fournette be a backup. He is not a bad back, and has proven that he can carry a workload. If Jones goes down, he would be needed to take over that position.

If Jones had those carries, he would be at 1150 yards at his YPC. On pace for a 1500 yard season.

RoJo rushing snaps stats in 100 yard games:

    Week 4 vs LAC: 20 snaps, 111 yards, 5.5 avg, 6 rec, 0 TD (W)
    Week 5 @Chi: 17 snaps, 106 yards, 6.2 avg, 3 rec, 0 TD (L)
    Week 6 vs GB: 23 snaps, 113 yards, 4.9 avg, 2 rec, 2 TD (W)
    Week 10 vs Car: 23 snaps, 192 yards, 8.3 avg, 1 rec, 1TD (W)

That’s almost half our wins when he gets close to 20 carries. I have a feeling and prayer that throughout this bye week Tom and the front office are gonna force more carries because this is a disgrace.

For his career, when ROJO gets 20 carries in a game the Bucs are undefeated.

If ROJO doesn’t get 20 carries this game, I will jump on the Fire Old Stale Biscuit bandwagon. I’m sure Realist will make room for me. Lol.

  9. JonJohn Says:

We need some of that dominion software so we can tilt a % of votes towards Rojo!! 🤣😂

  10. TOM Says:

I’m just not sold on Bienemy as some. I wouldn’t mind McDaniels given another chance at HC/OC & Patricia as DC. Especially with TB at QB.

    Raheem was/is better.
