“Anything Is Possible”

December 26th, 2020

Playoff team, happy coach.

It isn’t just Bucs fans who are happy the Bucs clinched a playoff berth today.

So too is Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians.

When Arians began his postgame press conference, he was reminded he’s now coaching a playoff team. Arians’ response was classic.

“Yeah!” Arians yelped. “Hah, hah, hah!”

That’s what a lot of Bucs fans were saying by halftime of today’s 47-7 rout. An exclamation mode was made with a foot-rubbing, car-littering Rob Gronkowski spike. A flag was planted into the Lion decal at midfield by Chris Godwin.

Let the NFL know: The Bucs are coming.

“It’s just the beginning,” Arians said. “Our goal when we first started out, especially this year, [is] to just get in the dance.

“And now it is to win 11 games and see where we stand and where we are going and know who we are playing.”

Arians added that he is, “Really, really proud of our guys.”

Arians added the Bucs making it to the playoffs is a big reason why he came back to coaching after a year of retirement, partially spent in a CBS broadcast booth.

“This means the world,” Arians said. “This is why you coach. You want to have a chance to win a championship. And man, what a great group of guys we have to coach. Very resilient, fun group.”

What was the key to turning the Bucs from the annual joke of the NFL to a winner? Old school football traits Arians said.

“We’ve gotten smarter and more disciplined and it is starting to show,” Arians said.

And don’t tell Arians a wild card team has no shot of making noise in the playoffs.

“Anything can happen,” Arians said from the bowels of Ford Field in Detroit. “I’ve been a sixth-seed and gone all the way to the Super Bowl and won it — right here in this stadium. Anything is possible.

“Now that we are in the dance, we have to see what next week brings and where we are going.”

Joe hopes that path ends at the Den of Depression in February.

  7. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

This team has a chance. However, we need to build on this win and have another impressive win next week against the Falcons.

  8. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

A ton of credit goes to BA today…I’ll never forget when asked about potential replacements at QB…BA literally said β€œTom Brady ( for one )”. Bold and unapologetic. This team ( finally ) feels like it’s coming together.

I thought 11-5 a few weeks into the season. Not a gambler but still…10-5 with one game left. Falcons will not be a cupcake. They are not in pieces like the Lions. SB bound? Nope, but playoffs works for me. Hey Joes: get video if Bucs win, and LVD dances off the field in tears. πŸ™‚

  11. Jerry Says:

With Arizona blowing it against the 9ers, the worst the Bucs can do is the 6th seed. If the Rams lose tomorrow against the Seahawks, and the Bucs win against Atlanta next week, the Bucs will get the 5th seed and likely travel to Washington in the first round.

  12. Leighroy Says:

Anyone else think straight to Kevin Garnett after reading that headline?

  13. Rod Munch Says:

Who in the world doesn’t think the Bucs have a chance in the playoffs? Even if you don’t think they’re going to win the NFC you’d have to be a complete moron to think the Bucs have no chance.

  15. atlBucs Says:

It doesn’t matter who we play we can beat anyone or lose to anyone. The results basically depend on how we decide to play that day

Cheers! Stay positive and have fun!

  17. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

β€’ We NEED to win next week! We need to get around playing the Saints. If someone else plays them in game one, they might get knocked out.

β€’ Bruce Arians deserves Coach of the Year, especially if we win against the Falcons, who will be trying to regain so respect.

β€’ Joe, I thought the ‘Den of Depression’ moniker got retired?

All that nonsense fron the espn talking heads before this game. So was it Arians offense in the first half or did they just say Brady do what you gotta do and we will watch the game like people at home. Im Calling out Ryan Clark especially as a former player he knows what it takes week in and week out. For him to say well the Bucs are running Arians offense in the first half of games and thats why they are down so much and then they all just take off their headsets and Brady runs his own personal side offense that leads to better numbers is ludicrous.Click Bait, B.S. .Now thats everything is starting to gel whos offense is it going to be next.

We have to beat the Falcons at home for the Den of Depression to be retired.
