The Rams’ Important Streak

November 23rd, 2020

Playcaller Byron Leftwich

Obviously, the Bucs have one job tonight against the Los Angeles Rams: win.

But there’s an important layer to note about the route there, one that will be critical to Bucs fans not having panic attacks at halftime.

As NFL.com shared today, and it’s widely known about the Rams since head coach Sean McVay arrived, his team has a 31-0 record when leading at halftime.

It’s an extraordinary stat that cannot be a coincidence. Something about the Rams makes them an absolute beast of a second-half team when they have a lead after 30 minutes.

The good news is the Rams are 8-18 when trailing or tied at halftime.

Our beloved Bucs are at home at the Den of Depression with an extra day to prepare and rest, but Bucco Bruce Arians also said he has “a really tired team.” The Rams had their bye in Week 9. The Bucs’ will come in two weeks.

Obviously, the Bucs know how especially important a fast start will be tonight. In their last three homes games, the Bucs have trailed after one quarter of play, and the combined point total in those quarters is an eye-poking 38-7. (That’s no typo.)

This must be repaired immediately, and a lot will fall on the shoulders of Byron Leftwich’s early plan to counter the NFC’s best defense — because halftime might be too late.

Time to break their streak…..but would rather lead at halftime….

    Turnovers , penalties & Special Teams…..

Run the ball….short passing…..tight defense on WRs….stop the run

  2. Brandon Says:

Maybe if we don’t bench Rojo in the first quarter like we did in most of our worst offensive performances than we can avoid a slow start.

  3. Dell Says:

After watching jon gruden call a great game on offense sunday. Im scared our offense will look ugly and predictable.

  4. Brad Farber Says:

Leftwich and Arians MUST add blockers on OL to give Brady more time.
I pray they will utilize multiple TE sets and more play action passes to avoid the fate they met vs. Saints in BOTH games. With time, Brady will carve up any defense. He needs to feel comfy too; an extra blocker and larger targets running shorter patterns, TEs, will help. If I see them jogging out 4 and 5 WR sets early, it tells me Bruce and Byron have learned nothing and fear our offense won’t produce points early in the game.

Tonight in my main $ league I have Brady and Godwin and the Bucs Defense.

The guy I am playing against has ME13, Gronk and Succop

Im excited not scared at all. I expect good things to happen. This team is Loaded and we have Brady who ig anything needs to slow down his fastball. Bucs win 31-20

  9. PSL Bob Says:

Have to have a balanced attack. Run ROJO run! I have a good feeling that if ROJO has a good night, the Bucs will have a good night. If we have to rely too much on a passing attack, it could be a long and disappointing night. Fingers crossed.

  10. bojim Says:

As long as BL makes RoJo run up the middle on first down, we’ll be fine. 😉

  11. Alanbucsfan Says:

Last year vs Rams, Bucs got out to 21-0 lead in 2nd quarter thanks to 2 Bucs interceptions.
Turnovers will play a big part in this game.

  12. Lunchbox Says:

We need to run more out of the 2 TE sets tonight. As mentioned earlier, we seem to have more success with that formation anyway, plus it will enable another blocker. Maybe shift one back to fullback for pass pro.

  13. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Control the clock, RUN the freaking ball, that’s the answer to winning this game.

  14. Mike Johnson Says:

The Rams will beat our Bucs. brady is to slow and they will bring pressure. There defense is better than ours. They get stronger in the 2nd half. I got’em winning by 3 points.
