Discipline

Fine tuning on defense.

The Bucs knew their stifling run defense would take a hit when Vita Vea was lost for the season.

And sure, it’s almost expected that Alvin Kamara can do a number on a defense. But a scrub like Wayne Gallman (Giants) and a two-bit Tim Tebow wannabe/fullback like this Taysom Hill? C’mon!

So is the Bucs run defense in panic mode? Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians doesn’t think so. Arians said yesterday in his day-after presser it is just the Bucs getting back to basics.

“It’s really gap control and getting out of gaps,” Arians said. “A couple guys [were] trying to do too much yesterday and when you try to do more than your job, a good running back is going to find that gap. That happened twice.”

Well, the Bucs may catch a break Sunday in Carolina. Christian McCaffrey messed up his shoulder in a razor-close loss to the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs. The Stinking Panthers have said it’s iffy if McCaffrey will play against the Bucs.

Right now the Bucs’ need every break they can get to snap out of this funk.

What were they doing the last time Hill did all the same things to them??

  2. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

Payton and the Saints offense is creative and using a 230 lb athlete as a change of pace to run it down the bucs throat was a smart move

  3. Steven007 Says:

Gimmick players have always been a problem for this team for some reason. And Hill is a gimmick player. I agree with a few others. The sky is falling this week. The last few weeks we’ve been the toast of the NFL. Neither is true. But clearly the team has to right this ship and start stringing a few games together. It starts Sunday hopefully.

i agree with BA…i saw nachos#56 being mccoyish….shooting the wrong gap playing for the sack and not being discipline….

BA you still didnt have this team ready to go….thats on you…

    GO BUCS!!!!!

It is going to come down to Tom having a clean jersey each week and a semblance of a Defense. Dirty Jersey for Tom and it is 50- 50 whether they win. Clean Jersey and they will be okay. Funny it is the same for all the good to great QB’s. You bang around Brees and it is a different story. A Rodgers got banged around and Tom did not. Again with a semblance of a defense and a clean Jersey and they make the playoffs. GO BUCS!!!!!

  6. The Coroner Says:

Taysom Hill is the real deal.

  7. Robert Says:

I blame the scheme….lost a lot of respect from me calling out the players. call out the OC and DC!!!!

  8. Defense Rules Says:

@BA … “A couple guys [were] trying to do too much yesterday and when you try to do more than your job, a good running back is going to find that gap. That happened twice.”

Twice BA? And yet it was 31-0 at halftime. Yes, the Bucs’ defense got mauled, to the tune of allowing 38 pts (could’ve been a lot more IMO). But the ZERO pts scored by halftime … and 3 pts scored by game’s end … wasn’t on the Bucs’ defense.

Our defense generated TWO takeaways from the Saints that our offense did nothing with. And oh ya, our D had to compensate for THREE giveaways (compensate as in ‘We gave up 2 TDs off 2 of those INTs). The 20 mins TOP for our offense pretty much tells the whole story IMO. Bucs defense doesn’t have the depth to put in 40 minutes on the field each game.

  9. D-Rome Says:

Taysom Hill is the real deal.

Agreed. Joe and some other seems to lose their s**t over Taysom Hill just because he doesn’t fit a preconceived notion of sticking to a position. Two-bit is a phrase to imply cheap and ineffective. Over the years he’s been anything but cheap to the Saints.

His position is “football player”. He’s a weapon and he’s very good at what he does. I think it’s a shame that Tim Tebow could never get over the idea of being a QB in the NFL because I think he also could have stuck in the pros as a jack of all trades football player.

  10. Brad Says:

How about getting pushed into the wrong gap? We don’t have another Vea. No one does.

  11. Buc1987 Says:

Defense Rules …exactly…and when you have an all-world offense you should score more than 3 points on anybody.

  12. Mike Johnson Says:

Lets move on from that severe A..Whippin we took against the saints. Had we won that game, we would be one of the top 5 NFl teams in the league. We did not and we are not..in the top 5. We still can secure a wild card. One game at a time. Win the next 3, then we will see. Teams now know mega pressure on our..statue of Liberty brady will keep our offense at bay. They will now strategize that against us any way they can. Ruck up Bucs. No excuses.

  13. Gofortheface30 Says:

He may be a two bit Tebow but he’s faster and he seems to enjoy plowing through our linebackers. He has a super punchable face but that sumbitch is strong, hard to tackle and fast. Maybe if Tebow was as open to playing diff positions he’d still be in the league

  14. Anonymous Says:

J Dean is the problem on defense. He like like a deer in headlights.

  15. unbelievable Says:

Taysom Hill single handdidly clowned this entire Bucs defense. Over and over and over again.

It’s absolutely pathetic that not single defender, including our supposed studs like Lavonte David, Devin White and JPP, can’t even put a hit on this guy.

They look afraid to touch them. It is the most pathetic thing out of a mountain of pathetic things from the last game.

If I was Arians, I would tape a picture of Taysom smiling to the front of every single defenders locker. They should be seething with Rage how this gadget quarterback made them look like pathetic little b!tches all game long. Again.

lol lol lol, Hey Show me, you sound like what I sure BA sounded like in his office lol Too funnyl!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  18. TOM Says:

    The BS just keeps coming.

  19. donuts Says:

Devin White is either all-pro or all-nothing. He lacks consistency at NFL level. He has now been exposed and every team will be watching this tape so he best step it up.

  20. Pelbuc Says:

Very overrated defense. White, SMB and Dean can’t cover receivers and the pass rush is average to below average. Oline sucks as well. It’s obvious BA has delegated all the work to his numerous assistants yet the the team hasn’t looked ready to play since the second half of the Raiders game and they never play a 60 minute game. That’s on the coaches..

  21. PSL Bob Says:

Really Joe? Apparently you haven’t seen many Saints games. Jaysom Hill does the same thing game after game. Agreed, he may have had more success than usual against the Bucs Sunday night, but give kudos where they’re due. The guy is no scrub.

  22. Joe Says:

Apparently you haven’t seen many Saints games.

Too busy monitoring the Bucs. 🤷‍♂️

  23. Bucamania Says:

Gap discipline lol. The Saints came out fired up and kicked your butt! Then instead of fighting back you whimpered while they laughed in your face. smdh
