Bruce Arians: “I Think If Anything We Might Have Been A Little Overconfident”

November 10th, 2020

Bucs fans from Lakeland to Largo are searching for reasons why our beloved Buccaneers were humiliated on Sunday Night Football.

Head coach Bucco Bruce Arians threw a new wrinkle into the mix. The Bucs might have thought they were all that before the game.

“I think if anything we might have been a little overconfident,” Arians told the Hooters radio postgame show on 97.9 FM. “Just, we have to learn how to win big games.”

Some interesting things to process there. Yes, the Bucs at 6-3 have learned how to win. Hallelujah! But they haven’t learned how to win big games, which often are played at night.

Ahead on the schedule is home game against the Rams on Sunday Night Football, and other games could be flexed into that spot. There’s also a Christmas weekend game at Detroit that has yet to be scheduled, as well as potential a winter evening kickoff for a Wild Card playoff game.

we meaning coaching. it was the same game plan as in week one. HELLO!

and Brady, there are other players other than Gronk.

They’ll get this sorted, but not until coaching accepts responsibility……and I don’t mean in a presser. change your damn scheme for the opponent.

  2. Tampabuscsbro Says:

    NOOOOOOOOOOO YOU DON’T SAY

Anyway, as long as they don’t lay an egg against the panthers I am not going to worry.

  3. PolkFan Says:

D-Line depth is needed, That game was on Leftwich and Bowles. Worst game plan I’ve seen from those two since they’ve been here. Tom needs to realize this isn’t the same junker receivers he had in Foxboro, Mike deserve atleast 2 50/50 balls a game. Ali Marpet needs to comeback and fast. Donavon smith needs to be gone by next season. I like Jamel Dean but he’s way too risky of a cornerback. Stop giving Rojos carries to fournette, I think we can all say Ronald is the better runner of the two as of right now.

  4. bojim Says:

They have done that more than a few times in their history.

  5. chummaster01 Says:

Evans has been misused all year Bucs have been too enamored with Brady Scotty Miller aint Julian Edelman I felt like Jones was gonna have a nice night just by his first 3 runs all good gains then we started passing every down !! Evans is a future hall of famer few of those passes went his way no passes to a 7 year 1000 yard recievier!!? If the Bucs are not going to use him then trade him or dump him like they dumped JW and let Brady throw away the future of the Bucs Ronald Jones could have ,should have had a good solid night but Brady is allowed to dictate the direction of this team far too often!!!Ariians needs to grow a pair and take back control of this team before the season is lost !! They didnt need AB Brady wanted him . Belichech would never have allowed that. Thats why Tommy is here because he can have his way with a losing organization that doesnt know how to win anymore and is looking for a Savior!! Well guess what he plays for another team now.

  6. Warrenfb12 Says:

The cliches coming from Arians are just too much man. Do something about it. Affect the game, target Evans, bring the pressure do what you were built to do Jesus Christ.

  7. LJsDaddy Says:

I didn’t notice any over confidence. They didn’t seem confident at all. Poorly coached, poorly played, fraud garbage. I am tired of this ….

  8. Gofortheface30 Says:

Flexed in to that spot. More like flexed out. I bet America is tired AF of tuning in to a Bucs game that turns out to be complete ass. For all these superstars on the roster we sure are super boring and clownish to watch when the lights go on. We were supposed to be the glamour team this yr. Marquee, must see tv. They can either start acting like it or GTFO. We assembled a bunch of personalities to win a Super Bowl. THIS YEAR. Not go to the playoffs, if you don’t win the super bowl then there is no point to this. I would otherwise give both of my nuts for a Kyler Murray or be in a situation the dolphins are in with Tua and alll these beautiful draft picks

  9. Chesapeake Bay Bucco Says:

Um, Green Bay was big game!

  10. Mike Johnson Says:

Overconfident my rear end. We got dominated in all aspects of the game. Completely dominated. The saints left no question in the publics eye who runs the NFC south. Matter of fact after those first 2 series, our bucs looked like they knew..they had been hit with a sledge hammer which was not going to let up. brady looked like a rookie trying to learn the position. And Arians looked like he needed..his golf cart. Worst national TV performance we have had since that raiders beating we took back in the day of 45-0.

  11. 813bucboi Says:

this is the type of stuff that pi$$e$ me off…

    why would we be overconfident?….

when was the last time we been to the playoffs?…

BA, as HC of the BUCS, when was the last time you coached in a playoff game?

BA, did you win the SOUTH last year?….

how could you be overconfident vs a team that beat you week1 and won the division the last 3years in a row…

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  12. Gofortheface30 Says:

    Bucboi- agree 100%

  13. August 1976 Buc Says:

Yes it was the “Worst national TV performance we have had since that Raiders beating we took back in the day of 45-0.” But that team still went to the championship game in 1999. Yea they lost to the Rams but they did not quit. So just like then, it was only one game. GO BUCS!!!

  14. Eric Says:

Our problem was very clearly not giving Brady any time to set and throw. Not a new
Problem as Jameis ran for his life during most of his tenure.

In contrast Drew sat in the pocket unmolested most of the night. Almost impossible to stop when he has that much time.

Saints were fired up and ready to play. We were not.

I hope we didn’t totally mortgage our future and not even make the playoffs.

  15. unbelievable Says:

Someone should tell Arians to just STFU and try to remember how to coach. Maybe get his worthless arse out of the gold cart.

  16. Bucsfanman Says:

813- True words! We are in NO position to be confident, let alone OVER-confident.
This is why EVERY game has to be played like it’s your last.

  17. Defense Rules Says:

Uhhh, ‘overconfident’ as in ‘We lost the 1st game to the Saints handily’ or ‘overconfident’ as in ‘The Saints beat our asses to a pulp on national TV in the 2nd game this season’.

Need to be more specific coach. And after that, stop with all the BS and do your job … as in COACH.

  18. TOM Says:

More BS. How in the hell can this team be over confident after the showing against the Giants, who by the way should have won that game.

  19. Pewter Power Says:

Damn talk about delusional. I no longer trust this coaching staff

  20. New Bucs Fan Says:

Test Post. My previous post didn’t show up.

  21. Vern Newsome Says:

How can the coach say we might have been over confident when Drew and the Saints own us. We were not ready for the Saints or prime time, from the coaching staff all the way down to the last player on the team. Everyone need to look in the window and say what can I do to get better. Go BUCS

  22. Clean House Says:

America’s Quarterback, JW2 for the kneel down, W eatin million dollar dance party. I enjoyed that very much! Now I hope the Bucs can get back on track and make the playoffs. Why doesn’t some press ask BS about what it was like having JW help the Saints coaching staff destroy the new dream team?

  23. Tbtb12 Says:

When will we hear from the players abt their performance? Brady stepped right up (as a MAN should) and took responsibility for his performance (or lack of). You could see the frustration on his face from the 1st snap.
I ask again: how long is he expected to put this team of potential Pro-bowlers on his back andcarry them?

  24. Joe Says:

When will we hear from the players abt their performance?

Various players spoke after the game (Brady is required to speak after games). Joe had Lavonte David’s words from Monday posted earlier today.

  25. SlyPirate Says:

    LET’S BE HONEST …

This is an AWESOME assembly of talent. Licht killed it. The coaching staff is MEH.
    >BA’s playbook is dated. Everyone knows how to defend it.
    >BL’s play calling is predictable.
    >Bowles defense cannot defend creative offenses (see NYG).

The Bucs win because they are more talented individuals. They lose when they go up against a talented coaching staff with comparable players.

  26. Tbbucs3 Says:

I think this was more than “just a bad game”. We just don’t match up well against the Saints it really feels like we are incapable of beating them.

  27. Bucamania Says:

I’m just disappointed to learn the Bucs have a coaching staff that’s dumb enough to play a soft zone against Drew Brees. If they can’t see that’s a poor decision then what else are they doing wrong?

  28. Oneilbuc Says:

Where is all the in BA I trust🤔🤔😁😆😅🤣😂!!!

  29. Supa Bucs Fan Says:

Bruce! No one likes buster. You are a buster Brady did not deserve buster move. Brady is a Man! He know what he gotta do. You are the real disappointment. You represent Bucs Nation.
