Cowherd: Arians May Leave In 2021

November 30th, 2020

Foresees coaching change.

The track record of sports TV and radio host Colin Cowherd is not that accurate when it comes to predictions. So keep that in mind when reading the following.

Cowherd, a man who in the past has crowed he values being interesting more than being accurate, took to his weekday show seen on FS1 today and said he expects Bucco Bruce Arians and park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, jet-ski-losing, handshake-stiffing Bucs quarterback Tom Brady will lock horns this offseason in a power struggle to see who has football say-so over the team.

And Cowherd predicts Brady will win by default because Team Glazer will write Arians a check with a lot of zeros to walk away content and retire from the game.

That’s what Cowherd explained this morning.

“That’s why I think there is a strong possibility that Bruce Arians is not around next year and he retires with a big check,” Cowherd said. “I don’t think Arians and Brady — they are so different football-wise. They are so different personality-wise. They are so different lifestyle-wise. They are both winners.

“But I don’t think that is the fit. I never did.”

Cowherd thinks there is major friction between coach and quarterback despite the public showing of love. And in this case, the quarterback will win the power struggle.

Cowherd also doesn’t understand all the freakouts from folks in the MSM and Bucs fans claiming the Bucs are crumbling. Cowherd claims most people predicted before the season the Bucs would be a wild card team and maybe win 10 games.

That is exactly what the Bucs are, Cowherd noted. He also said he expects the Bucs to win a playoff game or two but go no further.

You can see Cowherd’s full take in the FS1 video below.

    Interesting.
I’m warming to the idea of letting BA/BL go.
    Bowles could maybe stay.
I would also think that the math involved with all of Arians coaches salaries going away that the Glazers may possibly break even.

  2. zzbuc Says:

Mmmmm. I don´t think that is really accurate at all…..
This BUcs team is Arians toy, despite of any big check, I don´t think neither the glazers are going to fire him, neither he will quit…..
Both of them are going to swim together to the other side of the river.

I think there are some differences, but not as big as 99% of journalists try to tell us…..

  3. Bucs4821 Says:

The offense has been struggling since the arrival of Antonio Brown. It looked as if passes were being forced to him as the new “deep threat” the same way the ball was forced to DeSean Jackson when he arrived.

  4. miken Says:

@bucs4821… you are 100% correct. I think we win the next 5 games and 2020 was a great season and we look for a few more pieces in 2021

  5. Pewter Power Says:

We can only hope so. Bucs don’t have an issue with playing in prime time games, they have an issue playing against good team. Why are they down early against good teams? It’s no different than it was last year or even under dirk or any other stubborn coach we’ve had the last few coaches. We get in a game against a good team and after first quarter realize the game plan is garbage. If leading the league in passing attempts for a 43 old quarterback was the plan they should all be fired and get some young innovators in to coach this team

  6. Buc Bro Says:

    Arians is 14-14 here.

He pined for Brady and got what he wanted, yet he wasn’t smart enough to play to the team and QB’s strengths. Since he’s been here he has been mainly a figurehead that rides around on a golf cart during practices while letting his coordinators run the show.

Bucs fans thought we were getting the No Risk It No Biscuit coach that turned AZ around immediately. He even said he has more talent here than when he was coaching in AZ…

Fans and players would be happy to see him go. If the Bucs don’t make the playoffs if I am a Glazer I would say retire, or get fired.

  7. Clean House Says:

I strongly disliked the way this guy operated with his treatment of the Winston situation. it was classless, and now he does the same thing with the best qb ever. I hope the Bucs win but I’ve always thought this guy was BS

  8. Christopher Schiefen Says:

Brady has stated twice now in public forums he may be sticking around in the area post-football. BA meanwhile admits he’s half-retired and his real home is in GA. As the La Canfora article pointed out today, BA ain’t changin’ at this point of the game. If Tom likes this area so much (& seemingly the organization), it makes sense the Glazers allow him to be like Elway in Denver post-football. Weirdly enough, this all comes down to Giselle ☺️

  9. DoooshLaRue Says:

The handling of the mental midget, JayMiss Wins-none was one of things he got right, and I’ll always be thankful for that….. and dumping Softie93,

  10. OldBiscuit Says:

It’s simple – miss the playoffs with Brady, then this whole thing is a colossal failure. Next year with a smaller CAP number there will be less talent to overcome bad coaching.

  11. Kimbo Slice Says:

Lost on a lot of people is that Arians never built a team. That Cardinal team needed a fresh look, but the core of that team had gone to the Super Bowl. This is new for him.

  12. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I don’t believe BA would leave and abandon all of his coaching buddies unless one of them was promoted…..

  13. ClodHopper Says:

The way Colin talks about Tampa in general and the way the local pen and mic club talk about Colin, I seriously wonder if something big happened during his stint in Tampa between him and the rest of the local sports media

  14. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

Bruce can drive his golf cart to The Villages…and they can hire McDaniel in yet another “deal with the devil” a la The Gruden Trade.

  15. Wesley Says:

Arians ain’t the guy, he never was.

  16. lowercaseg Says:

Let the entire coaching staff go. It’s clearly not working.

  17. Colin in Canda Says:

If the Bucs go 11-5 they will not be changing the coaches.

  18. down in the dirt doug Says:

BE looks bewildered and unsure behind that plastic shield. He has to take the blame for our poor and predictable starts He has it too good to walk away.It sure feels like we will win two more games and end 9-7

  19. down in the dirt doug Says:

    ment to sat BA

  20. Adrnagy Says:

Yes. Two face leaving. Bring in josh mcdaniels

  21. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

If BA would just get over himself and his outdated offensive scheme, maybe they could bring in a new OC who could better utilize the talent. But I think BA is way too stubborn. Bucs are gonna sink Brady’s post-Patriots NFL career. It’s a shame, but that’s what happens when your ego is bigger than your brain.

  22. Buc1987 Says:

    On our way to 11-5.

    BA’s going nowhere..

  23. Zwak Says:

What happened to Scotty? Brady and him were on a roll then it just disappeared please go back to what was working..

  24. DoooshLaRue Says:

Not saying Josh McDaniels wouldn’t be an upgrade but he has some character flaws too.
Leaving Indy hanging after he committed?
Might be as bad or worse than being a two face.

  25. Sesteprenelicus Says:

McDaniels? no thanks. Belichick assistants haven’t exactly torn up the league, except in getting pink slips.

It’s a lot harder to be a genius when you don’t get to know the other teams plays.

  26. TDTB Says:

So Cowherd thinks Brady will lobby for a new coach which will likely result in a third offense for Brady in three years. I don’t think so. The best for both of them is to get along.

  27. Boltsfan17 Says:

The sooner Arians and his 700 coaches are gone the better.

  28. gotbbucs Says:

I warned before they hired Arians that when the going gets tough he loves to throw his players under the bus. He did it constantly in Arizona, and after a while it will turn the players off.

You don’t sign a player of Brady’s pedigree and then sh!t all over him publicly every chance you get. That kind of behavior has a chance to spread dissent through the whole locker room.

Arians spent all last year blaming everyone but the QB, now he wants to blame only the QB. One of those QB’s is 3rd string on another team now, one of them has 3 league MVP’s and 6 Super Bowl wins. Something isn’t adding up.

  29. Architek Says:

Winning cures all this noise! Bank on it…

  30. View from 132 Says:

The whole thing is a weird experiment. The Left Sandwich Offense is hard to watch. Brady’s the last of the immobile QBs. The AB and Fournette signings have been stupid and largely fruitless.

  31. Craig Says:

Arians will be back. He will make Josh McDaniel the new OC and give him the keys to the kingdom in 2022.

A good coach adjusts his game to fit his players, that isn’t happening for the QB, receivers, or runners. It is just a mess.

  32. adam from ny Says:

if you listen to cowherd tongue and cheek it all sounds good…

but if you hone in on what he’s saying or listen intently because you are a real fan of the bucs, he says so many wrong things and off stats…

like he’s reading off a teleprompter or something…

he has made some ridiculously way off remarks and stat mentions this season alone…

and i’m not talking about opinionated sheet…factual stuff that’s way off…

oh well i guess he has to know like 40% about all 32 teams and act like he knows it all…

chris sims is generally better to listen to regarding the bucs

  33. westernbuc Says:

Cowherd broke the news that Brady was coming to Tampa Bay.

  34. Jeff Says:

    Time to blow it up.

  35. StatGuy Says:

I’d rather give Romo a shot than McDaniels…

  36. miken Says:

@jeff… yeah, you’re right. Blow it up bc we are going to the playoffs for the 1st time in over a decade. Sure

  37. Cross Bones Says:

I know that as in a good coaching just like in any business you are only as good as the other coaches around you. I live here in New England and I am a fan of the New England Patriots and go to most of all the home games for 30 years. I was always a Tom Brady follower since he was made the starting quarterback. I watched him grow up in a Bill B system of the Eye on details and that you were out there to get your job done. This means every one that is what a team is.There is no I in team!!!Now I am watching Tom Brady that I watched for 20 years 9 Super Bowl appearances and 6 Super Bowl Wins this quarterback Tom B is like a Dr. He just needs to have the front offensive line doing there jobs and really know what that is meaning the game plan and if they are having a issue blocking for Tom B then have a back up plan for the situation at hand.Dr Brady can take this Tampa Bay Buccaneers team down the field but surgically get 1 downs eating the clock up at the same time.Keep the other teams offense off the field. I seen this picture in front of me this year when he isn’t just slinging the ball down the field and hopefully connect with the receiver and when he does it is great but your not using the clock and your offense to the best advantage of winning. I am just a fan looking from the other side and this is what I see. I don’t believe that he is calling his own plays when I have heard Bruce say that Byron L calls the offenses plan to game day and calls the plays in. I just feel like if everyone can get on the same page and have a great game plan and a back up plan to roll back up on would be great!!!

  38. TomTerrible Says:

Bruce Arians is a clown. Bring back famous Jameis. Brady is done and Arians should join the circus.
