Bucs O-Line Good Until Marpet Returns

November 16th, 2020

No timetable.

It is unknown when Bucs starting left guard Ali Marpet will return to the starting lineup. Until then, Bucco Bruce Arians believes the offensive line is set.

While making it clear the recent juggling is only temporary until Marpet can exit concussion protocol, Arians said today in his day-after presser that starting A. Q. Shipley at center and moving Ryan Jensen to left guard should bridge the gap during Marpet’s absence.

This will not be a permanent alignment, Arians stressed.

“It is just until Ali gets back because he has been playing fantastic,” Arians said. “We do not want to hurry him back. I want to make sure he is well.”

Arians said he has no timetable on when Marpet may return but he noted he will not rush Marpet.

“No, he is still in the protocol. some minor stuff,” Arians said. “He will have individual workouts with trainers” while the team practices this week.

Arians did add, in an effort to find a solution to the team playing terribly in primetime games, he will have night practices this week in the Glazer Shed.

The Bucs host the Rams on Monday Night Football a week from tonight at the Den of Depression.

    Rams LT out for season.

Maybe. Joe just saw a report from Los Angeles on NFL Network. He’s eligible to return. So far, seems a possibility.

Alex Cappa will have his hands full with Mr. Donald- good chance Cappa and Shipley will double team him which means Jensen will be 1 on 1 on the left side

  7. Zwak Says:

Very concerned about Ali, this seems like more than just getting his bell rung.
    Hope I’m wrong!

You can beat Carolina with a make-shift line
You can’t beat the Rams and Aaron Donald with it.

    Please be ok Ali.

Most of the Saints pressure with Hendrickson was missing Marpet

Sounds like another game I’ll have to put on mute.

The MNF crew is just so, so, so bad.

IMO this headline should have read “Bucs O-Line Good Until Saints Return”

Rojo’s 98 yard run was between Shipley and Jensen.

Big test against LA’s DTs. It will be interesting to see if they play Rojo or Fournette more in passing situations.

Man, he must have got hit with a sledge hammer while no one was looking.

  13. IrishMist Says:

It’s not worth rushing him back and risking re injury and ruining his career permanently. Let him get all the way healed and hopefully he will be close to full strength next year.

Let’s face it. It’s not too soon to begin looking at the playoffs and getting ready for a stretch run this season.

Ali is our best OL…how nice if he rejoins the lineup just in tme for the stretch run and dominates in the playoffs.

  15. The Coroner Says:

    Well. Hmm.
Back in even high school we practiced at night before playing night games.

Do not forget the impact of the return of my local guy Auclair folks! Seems to get more time on the field…Did great blocking on that nice little 98 yards run 😉
