The Stars Shined Through The Clouds

October 4th, 2020

Reason to smile.

Man, it was a rare but beautiful sight: The Bucs in a kneeldown to kill the clock to close a win at the Den of Depression.

Though you are only supposed to see the stars come out at night, they did shine through a gloomy Tampa sky just enough for the Bucs to win.

If not for the Bucs’ stars, Tampa Bay likely loses this game.

Star linebacker Lavonte David was quite literally all over the field today. Joe had media friends from Los Angeles texting him saying how good of a linebacker he is. See what happens when the nation has its eyes on you?

Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady took a while to get his old bones warmed up but once he did he was on fire. He put the Bucs’ sputtering offense on his back in the second half and put the Bucs ahead, outdueling the incredible rookie quarterback for the Chargers, Justin Herbert.

Not enough is written about how tough Mike Evans is. A guy who is on a Hall of Fame path came back from the blown wheel to catch critical passes from Brady including a touchdown pass to jump for, after which he barely walked back to the sidelines.

Future Hall of Fame tight end Rob Gronkowski caught a key pass, where it looked to Joe like for sure it was picked. This set up a Ryan Succop field goal to give the Bucs the winning margin.

There is a reason why you let your playmakers make plays. Today was a perfect example. Without the stars taking over, the Bucs lose today.

Brady threw a pass to damn near every RB TE & WR!!! Awesome 2nd half by TB12!!! Chargers are better than most think…

  2. Dewey Selmon Says:

Ton Brady has never lost a home game as a Buccaneer QB.

  3. Bird Says:

We lost that close game in years past . Same circumstances but we get the win. Hmm. What is difference ? 😂

    But brady balled out
    Evans balled out
    Lavonte balled out
    Devin white balled out.

Man. My heart is still racing.

  4. Casual Observer Says:

Your are right about the Gronk catch. I thought the same thing. Key play.

During the first harvest, when bellies are full, weenie arm stays afar but when the night is long, and the sickness empties lots and WEENIE ARM terrorizes the land.

  6. BringBucsBack Says:

This was the kind of game the Bucs wouldn’t have come-back from in the past. Brady is finally heating-up. Herbert is good.

  7. RICHARD weeks Says:

5 touchdown passes from Brady and I bet ndog still complains

  8. Howard Cosell Says:

Den of Depression transformed into the “Arena of Awesome” today…….just sayin’.

What’s the official criteria for retiring the moniker again?

  9. Miller5252 Says:

Don’t forget Suh. His play before half changed the whole momentum for the game. If he didn’t get that who knows what would have happened because nothing was going right at the time for the Bucs.

  10. Ivan The Insider Says:

    WE’RE JUST GETTING STARTED!!!

    GO BUCS!

  11. Sport Says:

Let’s not forget Brady was more than warmed up on that first drive. Brady just flat out made a mistake or Watson went a little too deep. Had nothing to do with age and everything to do with communication on a new team.

    In BA I Trust!

  12. BringBucsBack Says:

Isn’t Brady now the oldest QB to pass for 5 TDS in one game? I said he would do it at least twice this year.

  13. mark2001 Says:

When your young guys blow a couple big plays, and you still win, it is a great learning experience. I’m sure Bowles will be schooling you. You can’t let that guy get behind you..twice.

  14. Ivan The Insider Says:

    HEY JOE(S),

I think Brady’s 5 TD performance to 5 different WRs deserves retiring the “park violating, NFLPA rule breaking yadda yadda” nonsense negative moniker.

Give Brady a POSITIVE moniker like you gave Winston. For Pete’s sake… he’s a 43 year old QB putting up huge numbers and has us at 3-1.

This team, and writing about this team, needs all the POSITIVE ENERGY possible to keep the momentum going!

  15. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Ruptured Achilles for OJ. Done for the year.

  16. August 1976 Buc Says:

The Old man got it done for the 222 time in a regular season game. It is good to be on this side of a game that usually is bad loss for the Bucs. To go from a 24-7 deficit to a kneel down. Thats right Joe it is a New Day in Tampa Bay!!! GO BUCS!!!!

  17. Colorado Says:

Next draft we should get some wide receiver depth in Warren Jackson, 6’6 beast from the best university in the west, Colorado State. He can and does catch every contested ball thrown his way, with enough speed to burn corners who jump early. Would easily beat out bum-ass Scotty Miller and Justin Watson for the WR3 spot.

  18. mark2001 Says:

Richard… Jameis would have had six touchdowns…three with our guys and three by the opposing defense.

  19. Coburn Says:

Love Evans… Sadly hell ptob miss next game.. was like damn how did he limo to 122 yards?

  20. Zzbuc Says:

I Saw a lot of crying babies during the game on this site.
Time to slow down and hold on the horses!!
Time to believe…… We are in the right path, we need luck with injuries thats all

  21. TheShaz Says:

    Hey Joe!

How many wins @ home before you come up with a new moniker for Raymond James?

  22. NaplesBucsFan Says:

Real test coming up with a decent looking Bears team

  23. NaplesBucsFan Says:

Joe said they must having a winning record I a full season

  24. August 1976 Buc Says:

The Den of Depression will be gone when they actually win more than lose at home lol, so 4 more would be 6-2, that might get Joe to retire the moniker. GO BUCS!!!

  25. Robert Ross Says:

Nine guys caught at least one pass. Brady rocks.

  26. Surfslowson Says:

LVD came to play today!! His tackle save the game!! Devin White was mia today and Winfield Jr finally looked like a rookie. Will take the win!!! Previous Bucs teams would have lost this game but they fought to the end today and got an ugly win. Go BUCS!!!

  27. Of course Says:

    Johnson U
    Is a clear RACIST
    And
NDOG ISNT A BUCS FAN HES A WINSTON FAN. which is hard because he’s riding that PINE LMAO HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA

  28. Bucsgotachance..todonothing Says:

Everyone should check out that podcast called in you face
They talk about joe bucs site on it and promotes great bucs content

  29. FearTheFlag Says:

Good teams fall behind in games all the time. Great teams overcome that a find ways to win! I’m not saying we are great team yet…we are not. However, we are playing like one when it matters!

    Godwin OUT.
    Evens INJURED
    Fournette OUT
    McCoy OUT

We are clearly a better team when those guys are healthy and on the field.
Yet Brady finds 9 different targets to go 30-of-46 for 369 yards & 5 touchdowns!
RoJo gets his first 100+ yard game with 111 yards on 20 carries. Plus he continues to prove himself a tough runner. Great effort by him today!

Tampa Bay finished the game with 484 yards on 73 plays. We made the right adjustments after the half to come back and win against a rookie QB that’s on fire.

Clearly we still have work to do. This offense looked clunky in the first half after an awesome opening drive. With Arians at the helm and Brady captaining the ship, we should absolutely continue to get better.
Our Defense got burned a few times today for sure. But they also came up big a lot! Lavonte David had 11 tackles, and Suh came up big with that fumble he caused just before the half which led to us scoring a touchdown.

We are watching this team get better each week. And we’re 3-1 for the first time in almost a decade! Seriously, let’s enjoy this. It’s absolutely entertaining.

I hope we can heal up a bit before the Bears this Thursday. That Defense will be a REAL test for us!

  30. Jason From Jamrock Says:

@richard Weeks – 6 touchdowns for Brady – one for LAC

  31. Jason From Jamrock Says:

THere is much work to be done. But TONIGHT we ENJOY!

  32. RICHARD weeks Says:

    Lol Mark , so true!

  33. Jason From Jamrock Says:

did anyone hear the name Joey Bosa much?? credit to the O-line

  34. VaBucsfan Says:

Mike Evans , Tom Brady, Lavonte David all shined brightly. I’m happy with the victory but I’m concerned the defense allowed Justin Herbert (rookie) to complete 20 of 25 passes for almost 300 yards and 137.9 QBR.

  35. firethecannons Says:

the stars came out–yes but Scotty Miller and OJ Howard played great too!

  36. unbelievable Says:

Yup, LVD carried the defense big time today.

Evans, Brady and RoJo carried the offense, with an honorable mention to Scotty Miller for some key plays in the 3rd and 4th quarter.

  37. 813bucboi Says:

    Told y’all….

    Ugly wins build character…

    A win is a win….

    On to CHI….

    GO BUCS
