Smart Attack

October 15th, 2020

“Feed me.”

Yesterday, Joe floated the idea that perhaps it may be wise to run the ball on the Packers.

It seems Jenna Laine of ESPN is getting the same vibe.

While statistically, the Packers have the No. 4 rush defense in the NFL, they are giving up over 100 yards a game on the ground.

The Bucs, you may have noticed, have receivers up and down the lineup that are hurt. Mike Evans didn’t practice yesterday with a bad ankle. Chris Godwin may not be available as he continues to nurse his bum hamstring. Scotty Miller has a groin/hip issue. Justin Watson has a chest injury of some sort.

Ronald Jones is coming off the best back-to-back games of his short NFL career. Maybe it would be smart to go ground-and-pound?

In the video below, Laine offers her thoughts on the Bucs potentially attacking the Packers with the run.

Itz the Packers biggest weakness. The Bucs better run it and stick with it. I’d like to see one RB get 20-25 carries. I can’t stand RB by committee.
I don’t want a shoot out with Aaron Fking Rogers

    Measuring stick game

Balanced offenses always include some “ground & pound…

    “Wowser my girl Jenna L!

Looking at JL, Kobe also gets that groin issue!”

Run on the Packers! Lol! Yeah, that’s not going to happen. GB is in a completely different league. Far more talent and far better coached than the Yucks. Get ready for THREE losses in a row, Bucs fans. Season is completely over in three weeks. The remainder of the season will be spent humiliating the Bucs and Brady nationally. The media can’t wait for the Bucs dumpster fire to become fully involved.

  5. Mike C Says:

Cheese is going to melt late, (It is going to be HOT!) Rojo will slice and dice them.

  6. August 1976 Buc Says:

A running game is a QB’s best friend, it slows down any pass rush because they have to respect the run. If the Bucs can have a 2 headed monster with “Mr 6 rings” then they will be in every game, even with the buzz saw GB coming in this week. To put it mildly, San Fran exploited the Pack last year twice with Ground and Pound and smart efficient QB play, and a solid defense. The Bucs secondary this week is going to be challenged more than they have to date this season. Can they step up? We will see, most likely they will struggle, especially if they play that soft “Prevent” defense that has been used way to much this year. So points and are at a premium this week. The Bucs have to score at least 30-35 this week to have a chance to win. Of course if they are not disciplined this is all a moot point. GO BUCS!!!!

  7. The Coroner Says:

I often just watch the linemen. FO is right on. Tristan Wirfs has pancaked some All Pro defensive ends and outside linebackers – not just once, but multiple times in a game.
Bruce. Run first! I’ll try again. LOL on that one.

Let’s ride rojo. If he’s doing good feed him the whole game not just 3 quarters. I personally don’t care if we have a high flying offense. Don’t get me wrong it’s fun to watch. Real fun but if we can’t win games that way let’s go old school and pound the rock and set up play action. Let’s go Bucs

  9. SOEbuc Says:

If Fournette could come back pretty healthy, that would be huge. I’m assuming Mike just took one extra day off yesterday because he’s been carrying the load on one leg. I will be more scared if he doesn’t participate today. Scotty back in better shape would be nice but groins are a bitch especially for a speedster. If they could all return? Oh baby.

  10. Please win Says:

The packers allow 4.8 yards per carry..bucs need to commit to the run this game for once and let Brady throw to Evans and Godwin off play action it isn’t rocket science, tho maybe for leftwhich it is

  11. adam from ny Says:

22 carries for yung rojo this weekend…

feed him a big early morning buffet breakfast at one buc…

and let him tote the rock all afternoon

  12. SlyPirate541 Says:

Rogers throws a great deep ball. Maybe the best in the biz. GB is going to score early leaving the Bucs to play catch up.

  13. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

If this defense let’s rookie and journeymen qbs whoop then through the air and practice squad players burn them for deep tds oh and let’s not forget that inside the 20 guaranteed to give up a td, we’re not going to be able to run because Greenbay will score almost at will once they get inside our 20. Besides Bruce Notsomighty likes to pass pass pass, then run a lil bit. The Bears were a great case in point. Rojo was having a heck of a game and we
    inexplicably stopped running him.

  14. Tampabuscsbro Says:

But Joe, I thought Ronald Jones was the problem you only went on about us needing to upgrade the running back position and crowned fournette the savior of the run game and complained when we took Winfield instead of either a running back out with injury or the running back that can’t beat out Mark Ingram.

  15. JameisAlmighty Says:

Have to run the ball. Must run the ball because Terrible Tom Brady can’t throw it nor can he move to avoid a sack.

  16. JameisAlmighty Says:

The thing that makes this game interesting is the the Packers are only 2pt favorites.. that usually bodes well for the home team.. go Bucs. Hopefully Vegas knows that Brady will get pulled for the backup and the Bucs will have a chance.
