Extra Special Cheering

October 25th, 2020

Man, Joe hopes Chris Godwin and Mike Evans collectively tear it up today in Vegas, giving a silent finger to their bosses who approved the Antonio Brown signing.

And throw Scotty Miller in the mix, too, and may the football gods let rookie Tyler Johnson take another leap. Give Gronk a touchdown, too.

Brown currently is under NFL suspension for eight games, and that slap-down from Roger Goodell isn’t tied to the ugly rape suit hanging out there against Brown in civil court. (It should be fun/sad/sickening if, say, his accuser re-appears publicly before a big December Bucs game. No distraction there. Carry on. Solid chance he’ll pay her off.)

So Brown isn’t eligible to play today or in Week 8 against the Giants. And that has Joe rooting for the current receivers to play so damn well Brown is relegated to the bench when he returns.

Joe will not hope Brown fails in Tampa. No way. But there will be no pretending from Joe; it would be glorious to see the Bucs dominate without Brown being a factor.

Godwin knows he needs catches, aka stats, to get the money he wants from the Bucs. He’s a free agent in a few months. And Evans has been a loyal and selfless Bucs warrior, and Joe desperately wants to see him hit that 1,000-yard mark for the seventh consecutive season, a new NFL record.

Winning trumps all, but Joe’s going to be a little greedy and hope for a “W” today with a side of receiver dominance.

Maybe the Bucs receivers can get so darn healthy, so fast, that the Bucs trade Brown before the deadline to, say, the Bills or the Colts.

I agree Joe. It would be nice to see ME13, Godwin, and Miller just dominate.
I ‘understand’ the signing. I just don’t like AB.

  2. #1bucfan Says:

Totally agree joe. Hope ME13 goes for over 100 and 2 TDs and our other WRs do work and get us another win. Don’t really want to see brown suit up at all. Only if we need him. Honestly I don’t think we do barring injury.

  3. BUC CHEEKS Says:

We’re bringing back Antonio Bryant?!!!! This just in!!!!

  4. BUC CHEEKS Says:

Joe you hitting Big Storms already?!

  5. Destinjohnny Says:

Mike and Chris can’t be stoked

  6. Alanbucsfan Says:

We’d all like Evans and Godwin to be healthy.
Brown deal wouldn’t have happened otherwise. Don’t believe everything you’re told. –Joe

  7. King C Says:

LOL Team winning with AB balling out would change Joe’s tune quick

  8. SlyPirate Says:

I’m loving the run game. Let’s see +200 yards on the ground. Like when Martin dropped 250 on the Raiders.

I say worry about AB after he gives us something to worry about. He may be great. Let’s give him a chance.

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Sure, I’m all for our WRs doing well….but not to spite AB…..

The WR for Joe to root for is Cyril Grayson…..the likely WR Brown will replace.

Cyril & Brown are ties with Buc stats at the moment.

Zero Catches for Zero Yards & Zero Touchdowns

Really, does anybody think Brown for Cyril is not an upgrade?

  10. AwshBucs Says:

    5 words for you Joe.

    Get. Off. Your. High. Horse.

  11. AwshBucs Says:

Also the hypocrisy on display here by you is pretty disgusting.

Never once in Jameis’ tenure here do I recall you saying rape so frequently.

You are aware that both men are in the same boat in the sense that both were subjected to ALLEGATIONS. Literally nothing has been proven in any way shape or form that Brown is guilty of what he’s been accused of doing.

And in many ways Jameis was actually worse, because the Uber scandal was essentially confirmed that he did it, and lied about it, yet still I never saw you speak so harshly. It’s pretty ridiculous actually.

  12. tickrdr Says:

    @TBBF:

If Grayson is gone, I, for one, will not miss that “DOINK” sound of the ball bouncing off his HELMET.

  13. Architek Says:

    Winning over stats
    Playoffs over accolades
SB over glad you be there.

Yea Joe your take is selfish.

  14. Casual Observer Says:

The injuries to Evans and Godwin must be more serious that has been admitted so far. Hope they recover soon – as Joe (and all of us) wish.

  15. August 1976 Buc Says:

So how many games has Chris missed since last seasons end. He has missed a ton of time. So what is anyones assurance that Chris will even suit up week to week. Yea the sight of watching a hobbling Mike Evans really gives me confidence. It is painful some times just watching Mike try and walk. Oh how about Cyril and follow the bouncing football, on what should have been a long wide open TD. And Scotty Miller has not been fully healthy either. How about Watson, and rounding off routes and resulting Brady chucking pick 6’s, just things going wrong when the ball goes his way. Scotty Miller and Tyler Johnson starting as the wide outs in Chicago is not what anyone wants to see, at least at this point of their careers. So this vaunted Mash unit has not lived up to their reputation by any means. AB is a big upgrade. Chris and Mike have not been dependable health wise. Uncommon sense has prevailed this time.SUPER BOWL OR BUST!!! GO BUCS!!!!!

  16. EA Says:

There’s a new sheriff in town, his name is Tom Brady. Tom Brady is the new QB , coach and GM who approved the signing of AB so TB is the boss they should give the finger to.

  17. orlbucfan Says:

Methuselah Brady yells “Jump!” Bucs franchise says, “How high?” That’s why Brown is here. The Brady worship is getting old, real old. I just hope ME13 and Ungodly are slowly but surely healing.

  18. August 1976 Buc Says:

Anyone want to go back to the last 17 years of mostly garbage football, NOT me. This year has been a blast so far. The Bucs are relevant. They are legitimate Super Bowl Contenders for the first time since the invention of the wheel lol. Finally fun again to be a Buc fan. SUPER BOWL OR BUST!!! GO BUCS!!!

  19. Wesley Says:

    F*ck AB.

  20. webster Says:

The uber scandal was not confirmed. It was only confirmed if u like alternative facts.

  21. ©MadMax Says:

I have a feeling Brown has his mind right and is set to play ready! He’s going to complement our WR’s so good. He’ll get double teamed too and free up some guys…im STOKED we got him!

  22. stpetebucsfan Says:

In for a penny in for a pound. This deal makes sense for EVERYBODY.

AB has 90 days to ball out…try and build a rep in Tampa as great in the locker room and then cash in next year. His entire future is on the line!!! He won’t make a lot of coin but he won’t need it if he succeeds and he doesn’t need elephant stats because of his rep. Everybody will realize that AB’s targets come at the expense of ME and CG and Gronk and RB’s and will necessarily be limited.

I do concede Joe’s accurate worry about a PR kerfuffle if AB has women problems off the field. I just don’t believe it will mean anything in the locker room or the fan base. Just like NE…trouble announced..AB quickly released and everybody just moves on.

The off season is where it will get exciting with CG and AB up for more money.

Hard to imagine keeping the dream team of ME13…CG14 and AB under contract for next year. Hard to even freaking imagine what that would look like to DC’s around the league. Brady may want to play till 50 if we keep all three.

Yeah I know it’s not going to happen but a guy can dream.

  23. BridleOaks Buc Says:

Trading Brown to a contender in the AFC…We’ll that a new angle. I like it…

  24. B.D Says:

I think this lights a fire…produce or we will get someone else to take your place… right Rojo? (Im not talking about Evans or Godwin)
also, nobodys talking about relationship Byron has with Brown? they were teammates No? (Byron Leftwich is the offensive coordinater)

  25. Durango 95 Says:

Love Joe’s conviction on this AB stuff. Hasn’t been on board with this move from the jump.

  26. Alanbucsfan Says:

    Joe is a production guy-
Let’s face it, talent aside, Evans hasn’t been producing.
Whether that’s injury or chemistry, it’s reality.
    Godwin has a hamstring issue.
Yeah, this is Brady’s call- so?
If it doesn’t work, they’ll cut Brown.
    It’s a definite talent upgrade.
The locker room will be fine.

  27. Bob in Valrico Says:

Both Godwin and Evans ended up on IR with hamstring injuries last season. Everybody’s has different opinions. Mine is that is its quite possible that they were overworked trying to build chemistry with Jameis on the deep ball. Signing Brady
could also have required more reps to get used to his new receivers. A look at Mike Floyd at Arizona who some impressive stats, good enough to move Larry Fitzgerald to slot. His production tailed off after 2015. Could it be that that Arians offense just runs too many deep routes and it leads to more injuries?

  28. Bob in Valrico Says:

    edit: withsome impressive stats,

  29. BillyBucFan Says:

Sounds like the same overconfident Joe who trashed Rojo saying what RB who averaged 1.9 yds/carry his rookie year went on to do anything?

Not saying Rojo has arrived, but he is a top 5 RB RIGHT NOW.

You could see his growth and I KNEW he would have a stellar year after watching him train and gain weight.

    Too much cynicism grows old.

AB is gonna tear it up against the Aints and I’m gonna LOVE every minute of it.

  30. Bob in Valrico Says:

oops, who had some impressive stats.

  31. Cobraboy Says:

I hope AB has seen football Jesus, and turns his life around.

    As a Buc.

Because if he does, all that does is help this team.

I wish people would stop rooting for players and root for the team.

  32. Gofortheface30 Says:

It’s pretty simple for those two. Stop being injured

  33. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

Yeah. I want to good guys, the team guys to do well.

  34. Bucamania Says:

Can’t wait to see AB on punt returns. Finally a legit threat back there.

  35. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Chris Godwin will be a free agent next year, and to get the big money, will need to put up some big numbers.

  36. Cobraboy Says:

Evans knows a SB Title goes a long way to earning a ticket to the HoF.

  37. Soggy Says:

the sky is falling because we got AB… remember the same complained about getting rid of winston and getting brady..Lol.. RELAX and enjoy the football, bucs are relevant again…

  38. Marlon White Says:

Thats what you do in a lawsuit. You pay them off. That is what they are asking for.
