Brown Isn’t Out Of The Woods

October 24th, 2020

Unfinished business.

Joe suspected it would only take minutes for Nancy Armour of USA Today to type one of her over-the-top columns in the wake of the news that the Bucs signed quitting diva/cancer Antonio Brown.

Armour didn’t disappoint.

In a column that swayed between a triggered Karen (the Bucs have a pink banner for cancer awareness on their website — why, the nerve!) and seemingly satire (“I’ve got some pink merchandise to sell you” — Joe’s fully on board with her there) Armour makes one helluva point.

Brown may never play a snap for the Bucs. Why is that?

Well, first Brown is serving an eight-game sentence/suspension. He is also currently being investigated by the NFL for being too handsy with his personal trainer, a rape allegation that has him in civil court and is not tied to his current punishment.

There also is potential additional discipline looming. The suspension that ends after Week 8 is not related to the rape accusations by his former trainer, allegations the NFL is still investigating. So there is a chance Tampa Bay could get him back, only to lose him right away.

Now Joe will guess before the Bucs signed Brown, Team Glazer, Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht or perhaps Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians called NFL strongman Roger Goodell to find out where that outstanding investigation stands.

It could be the NFL doesn’t have the goods on Brown and told the Bucs it was OK to sign Brown.

Armour also found the timing of the Bucs signing Brown to be outrageous — during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

As for the NFL selling pink merchandise, they make sure they get their cut.

this is all about the NFL giving the GOAT everything he needs, including this years schedule ( no cold weather games ) to be successful, to add to his legend, and would it not be something, for the greatest of all time to put the smack down (pun intended) on the heir to the crown, Mr Mahomes, in their own stadium, kinda like wrestle mania, is it not? poor bill, not going so well in new england, on the other hand, it’s unicorns and pixie dust in title town, go brady, go brown, go gronk, and as always go bucs!!!!!!!!

  2. Bird Says:

    Nobody would be that dumb

They would have called Goodell to confirm his status
Bucs know there would be extreme blow back on this just like is happening
They wouldnt have organization discredited without knowing AB would play in a few weeks. They would not take that risk if AB still has pending issues

But it is glazers boyz and not macolm himself So who knows
The glazer daughter /sister would step in here though too

  3. First Down Tampa Bay Says:

This is a ridiculous take honestly. Did people forget who we have at QB? #3 isn’t taking snaps back there anymore, in case you’ve been living under a rock. Brady gets what Brady wants. And if he wants AB on the field, AB is going to get on the field.

As for the behavior of AB, yes it’s definitely concerning, but the upside is incredible. Before AB erupted into his antics, he was unquestionably on a Hall of Fame pace and was also undoubtedly the best receiver in the NFL. Antonio Brown going against a team’s #3 CB? I think yes.

If anyone can control the behavior of AB, its Tom Brady. Trust in Tom.

I’m not a fan at all but can’t deny the talent dude is a beast. His footwork deff before the suspension was the best in the game no lie and he’s doing it still in his mid 30s. Idk how good of shape he is in deff not in football shape but hopefully he stays out of trouble and contributes to us winning. On the fields he’s bin the best for a long time. Off the field well dam lol

Unfortunately, yup. Just another hollyweird production, acted out on a grass stage. They proved that last year, when they appeased critics by allowing pass interference calls to be reviewed–and then pulled the power play of acting out the reviews while making it clear that they were never going to overturn any calls, no matter how egregious.

Clown show Goodell and his #MerrybandOfFreemasonRefs refused to give up their biggest Trump card for deciding outcomes: the pass interference call.

Evans, Godwin, Brown, Gronkowski, Brate, Jones, Fournette, McCoy

If all are healthy and on the field together in whatever combo – who in the world is going to stop that?

No way they can keep all past this year, but it will be fun for awhile at least

  7. iamrhenry Says:

Signing Brown was perfect timing as we prep for the Raiders. Perhaps Brown can provide some intel on Chucky’s playbook.

  8. Casual Observer Says:

At the start of the season, WR looked to be the deepest position on the team. Then these pesky injuries. Obviously those suffered by Evans and Godwin are worse, and more lingering, than was revealed. Thus the shock to fans. Hope he can fit in – character wise. As most commenters have pointed out, if he can’t, he’s out. Fine.

  9. Sumosam Says:

Think about it for a minute. Evans is a terrific possession receiver. Godwin is a terrific receiver they can give you yak. Brown was the best receiver in football just a couple of years ago and was terrific with yak. You know he still has it. If you can get those three guys on the field at the same time, there’s no defense in this league that can stop that. It’s good to give a man another opportunity if you feel like he deserves it. He’s always wanted to play with Brady and now he has his opportunity. If he turns out to be the diva that he showed he is, then it will be really easy for the Bucs to cut him. So here’s your opportunity Mr Brown. Take advantage of it and the NFL will not forget and you can resurrect your career.

National Domestic Violence awareness month? I’m sorry, that’s kind of ridiculous. The overwhelming majority of people know you are absolute scum if you hit a woman, and having a month dedicated to it is not going to stop the A-holes. I’m guessing in November we will be told murder or rape is bad too.

I just took the time to read the Nancy Armour article. I feel for her. She is really bitter, but I would tell her that bitterness comes from the inability to forgive and be merciful, no matter how big a wrong. People can, and do change. And, sometimes, they don’t. But it’s on us to forgive as much as “77 by 7 times” if necessary.

What impressed me about Tom Brady when AB joined the Patriots is that Tom took AB into his home. Welcoming strangers is another “old time” quality that you don’t see much of these days. Maybe some kindness from another person is what AB was lacking in his past. After all, if you keep poking an angry bear with a stick, it’s not going to calm the bear down.

I am sure glad some of you rush to judgement people here will never serve on a Jury.
The Rape allegation is a Civil, not a Criminal Case.
This means there was not enough evidence to charge Antonio Brown Criminally.
For all we know, she is a greedy money hungry woman ?

  15. Bradinator Says:

If his head is on right, he’s one of the best there is. If it’s not, we’ll find out soon enough. From a moral standpoint, I’m not a fan of the signing. From a football standpoint, it’s a no-brainer. I’ll go out on a limb and say that the NFL and the Bucs know far more than I do about the accusations, and the guy. Hope it doesn’t go into the dumper on us.

Effetiveness isn’t important. It’s whether or not people feel good doing it. “Raising awareness” let’s us feign compassion and feel virtuous without actually having to do anything.

  17. Darin Says:

Lol. All this Brady gets what Brady wants is funny. He doesnt own the business. I hope brown doesn’t play a snap here. Adios before hola!

Apparently you aren’t aware of the fact that he admitted, in text messages, to milking the monkey in her presence while she was in his home trying to work in a professional capacity.

Admittedly, I could be mixing up cases, as there were more than one, but yeah, he didn’t seem very ashamed of his behavior. I’d at least take a shot at hand holding or sharing lunch or something before flopping it out while I watch her work.

  19. martinii Says:

Football in the midst of Pandemic….. Let’s see, Tom Brady, Gronk, AB. Looks like somebody wants to win a Super Bowl in Tampa this year. Looks like BA has been demoted and TB gets what he wants. I hope it works out well cause in a year or so when they are all history we will be back to picking 4-6 with no cap room. That’s the price for a Lombardy trophy, 10 years of losing.

  20. Mike Johnson Says:

Figure it out for yourselves. Arians knows he maybe has one more year after this one. So he and Licht are going all in and grabbin what they can to make the team better. But, be careful what you gather at the dumpster, it often is filled with disease and unknown geromes. Just sayin….

  21. Buc4ever Says:

Just win baby. Lol. AB is an insurance policy due to Evans And Godwin injury situation. One year low risk deal with some risk but a lot more upside. AB in beast mode is something the Buc’s need to stretch the field.

    Entertain me

  23. Buczilla Says:

That anecdote about pink merchandise is nuts. Just another (I’m much too mellow to rant now) huge strike against the NFL in my eyes. Why the hell am I still supporting this nonsense?!? Geez, I’ve a hunch that I’m going to a very warm place when my time is done. 😜
