Shaq’s Sack Machine Ready

September 18th, 2020

The “Good Morning Football” crew reacts when Bucs OLB Shaq Barrett says, “You will see something this week for sure.”

Look out Stinking Panthers, Bucs sack king Shaq Barrett is zeroed in on Teddy Bridgewater.

Against Drew Brees last week, Shaq blitzed nine times and had four quarterback pressures and four hurries.

But no sacks.

And Shaq is determined to take his frustration out on the Stinking Panthers Sunday and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

Appearing on NFL Network this morning, Shaq treated the “Good Morning Football” gang with strong words, most of them directed at Carolina, the Bucs’ home opponent Sunday.

Last year playing at Carolina in the second week of the season, on Thursday Night Football,” Shaq broke out with three sacks. He admitted he’s looking for a repeat performance.

“I am ready to break out again this year,” Shaq said after posting a no-sack game last week. “And unfortunately for the Panthers, it has to be against them.”

As Shaq was signing off, he told the four co-hosts, “You will see something this week, for sure.” Kay Adams, Nate Burleson, Kyle Brandt and closet Bucs fan Peter Schrager erupted in glee.

Before that, Shaq was asked about folks jumping off the Bucs’ bandwagon. He said it’s too soon.

“Everybody has to overcome some adversity,” Shaq said of losing to New Orleans last Sunday. “It’s good for us that we got it out of the way Week 1. We didn’t need to refocus but now we have.

“There is no reason to panic at all. … We are not panicking at all. We know everybody is going to pick it up and get some turnovers, sacks, picks and the offense will pick it up and score more points.”

Shaq was also asked if he is a one-year wonder. For the first time in his six-year career, Shaq had double-digit sacks, leading the NFL last with 19.5 and setting a new Bucs franchise record.

“Hey, make sure [to] tune in every single game because every game I will do something,” Shaq said. “It doesn’t have to be a sack. It will be a play that lets you know that Shaquil Barrett played in that game.

“I am most definitely not a one-hit wonder.”

Gametime against the Stinking Panthers is 1 p.m. Sunday. So how many times will Shaq put Bridgewater on the ground?

this is perfect material to fire up the panthers o-line unfortunately and bridgewater. love the swagger but ugh we dont need to give teams more motivation. i have personally been scared of this game all offseason knowing we play new orleans out of the gate. division games are never easy so dont let up at all this sunday bucs!!!

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    I agree….you don’t want to fire up the opponent…..but I like Shaq’s attitude….
No holds barred…..press on…..confident in his abilities….my money would be on Shaq…..

Been a fan since 76′. I have a reserved seat on the bandwagon and I will never jump off!!!!

Shaq is confident and respected because he follows through. There are other examples but my favorite was last year he told Chandler Jones he was going to beat him for the most sacks in a season when Shaq fell behind him during the last couple games of the season. Shaq got 3 sacks in the last game, was crowned sack king, and Chandler Jones respected him for it.

Unless Teddy is getting the ball out in 2.2 seconds or less all game I think Shaq is going to blow up those tackles!

Would have been funny if he said, “Yeah I was just a one hit wonder.”

  6. Allbuccedup Says:

Hopefully Shaq will have more sacks than he did against the Saints.

All you punks talking about how it’ll fire up the Panthers!! 🙄 … This kind of confidence is what you want in your team!! Who cares what the Panthers think we’re going to do what we want to do no matter what they think it how fired up they are!!!…. America has become a nation of wienies!!!!

SMB will get the 1st pick of the year…winfield will get his 1st pick of his career…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  9. Big Stinky Says:

So he ONLY rushed the QB 9 times during the game? WTF??? Wonder why we only had 1 sack in the game? I have to stop reading JBF or I’m going to lose my mind. The TRUTH is disturbing!!! Has anyone asked CHIT talking, non coaching, finger pointing, mind changing, Pope mobile sitting, Quarterback Tinkerer Bruce Arrogance why he went for 2 down by 11? Hard to win with no CLUE what you’re doing!!!!

  10. Stanglassman Says:

That is some lousy bulletin board stuff.

  11. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

It’s not that the Bucs lost, it is HOW they lost. Same song and dance +10 years now.

Agreed, Shaq just gave them bulletin board material. Sunday may help determine if he gets his big extended contract.

Aw look it’s David Copperfield running his mouth again!!!!

This guy just loves to disappear…. especially when it matters.
