“Let’s Rock The House”

September 27th, 2020

“Big Nasty.”

It is hard to believe there are many bigger Bucs fans than Keith Kunzig.

You probably never heard of that guy. But he goes by a handle many fans do know. “Big Nasty.” He’s the guy that wears the Warren Sapp jerseys to Bucs games with the pewter construction helmet with a rhinoceros horn coming out of it, along with all sorts of other decorations.

And yes, “Big Nasty” also wears Gene Simmons-like face paint.

So when he heard yesterday — from a reporter with WFLA-TV Channel 8 no less —  that whoever had the final call was going to start letting Bucs fans back into home games next week when the Bucs host the Chargers, Kunzig was stoked.

“To know I can go back home one week early, I mean, I’m all for it,” Kunzig told WFLA-TV reporter Justin Schecker.

In a press release from the Bucs yesterday announcing the “soft opening” of Oct. 4, the Bucs specifically cited Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ edict of an executive order Friday to open up bars and restaurants and other businesses as a reason why the gates to the Den of Depression will be flung open next Sunday to an undetermined number of fans.

The Bucs also announced how they plan to proceed after the Chargers game.

Starting with the team’s Oct. 18 game against the Green Bay Packers, seating at Raymond James Stadium will be approximately 25 percent of capacity. At this time, all season pass members who kept their 2020 season pass payments as a credit towards 2021 will have the opportunity to purchase limited tickets for up to two games from the remainder of the 2020 home schedule as part of the Priority Presale. Additional games may be offered in the future based on availability and tenure. Tickets through the Priority Presale for the remainder of the season will go on sale starting on Monday, Oct. 5.

Luxury Suite members will have full access to their suites for all remaining games this season, including the game on Oct. 4. Hall of Fame members and Legends Club members also will be afforded the opportunity to attend all remaining games, with seating and pricing to be determined based on availability due to physical distancing measures.

As for Kunzig, Joe is confident he summed up the emotions for many Bucs fans when he told WFLA-TV Channel 8, “Let’s get back into RayJay and let’s rock the house!”

I’m torn on the issue personally. The Sickness still lurks..there is no cure, there is no vaccine, it is ultra contagious and it kills people. On the other hand – life goes on. My best wishes go out to all who choose to gather. Go Bucs!!

A lot of buc fans know big nasty! How couldn’t they! Joe was referring to his real name. –Joe
I was opining for you to post about how he got into the ford hall of fame for fans this year. I had the opportunity to meet him in London and it sounds like he does a lot for kids and the community. He is a true pleasure and a great fan and great man. Buc fans need to stick together so thanks for posting this and we are all excited for this team. We all differ on politics but I don’t care as long as you’re a bucs fan! Stronger together!

Watching college football games yesterday, it seemed like the SEC schools had it right; fans spaced out, respecting the distancing and mixed in some cardboard cut-outs too. It seemed effective given the circumstances… perhaps a model for how to move forward safely with fans in the stands?

I also applaud the Bucs for rewarding loyal fans with the priority pre-sales.

Yea, Big Nasty is hardcore. A very nice guy. Sad to learn Little Nasty passed some years ago. Those guys used to pass our tail gate party when my son was a little kid, always had candy for him… Ha! He used to love that. There used to be a crew of them and yea it was like Kiss were coming thru.
