Carlton Davis Saved Defense

September 20th, 2020

Huge pick.

This game should have been packed away in the third quarter. Instead, shockingly, the Bucs let the Stinking Panthers back in the game and it was starting to get nail-biting close.

Joe knows Bucs fans on Twitter were starting to get a tight tailpipe.

With the score 21-14 with just over 10 minutes left, the Bucs defense quickly became leaky and the Stinking Panthers were looking to tie it up.

Good defenses find a way to win and Bucs cornerback Carlton Davis found a way. He picked off a Teddy Bridgewater pass. Trying for D.J. Moore, Bridgewater’s pass found its way into the arms of Davis.

The Bucs responded with a field goal with 6:18 left for a 24-14 lead that proved to be too much of an uphill climb for the Stinking Panthers.

After the game on the Buccaneers Radio Network, Bucco Bruce Arians crowed about Davis, who missed a few plays with an injured finger earlier in the second half.

“I told him he needs to injure his finger all the time if it gets an interception,” Arians joked. “He is one of the top-10 corners. That was a man-to-man interception and you don’t see too many man-to-man interceptions anymore.”

I am really surprised at how well he’s played at corner

Our Rookie new Safety is an absolute Gem too……

  2. ElioT Says:

Carlton’s got the right mentality to be a damn good corner.

He’ll give up some plays and penalties but he hangs in there.

Good to see the kid playing well.

The defense did us proud! Maybe Davis needs to teach Miller and Shady how to catch?

  4. Bucamania Says:

Yessir! Carlton playing lights out right now.

  5. Rod Munch Says:

Davis also gave up a bad PI call in the end zone where he didn’t get his head turned around and was clearly beat one-on-one.

He flashes good plays, then will give up a bad play like that PI call. Still, it’s more good than bad, and if he can cut those bad plays he’ll be a pro-bowler this year, and maybe more in the future.

Teddy Bridgewater was 22-12 going into this season. Now 22-14.

Bridgewater had his first five years interrupted by the horrid knee injury.

Still in five years he managed to start 34 games with 25 ints. Did you read that correctly…in 34 games Bridgewater had 5 fewer ints than Fameis had in one year!

Bridgewater did not have McCaffery in the end…he does not have our receivers.
Still Teddy is the 4th best QB in the division. Not a total slam on him since this Division has some HOF QB’s…at least two and maybe three.

They pay the other guys too. Time to break open the vodka…bong..whichever you prefer and perhaps have a wife who wants to “celebrate” as well. YEAH BABY!!!

“Joe knows Bucs fans…were starting to get a tight tailpipe.” Like me. I turned off the radio and waited for the end to hear the usual SOS loss. Pleasantly surprised. Defense is showing signs of turning into a Tampa Bay monster. They are becoming fun to follow.

yeah the D is back where it belongs, almost still needs to tighten up though, question is how many of these guys going to be back next year? because of age and salary issues, wow 1-1 tastes so much sweeter than 0-2

Davis was alright. Did have PI in the end zone. DJ Moore did have 120 yds( Which is Joe’s fault, he jinxed him yesterday with his article) int was pretty lucky.

The whole team didn’t exactly look great, but I’ll take the win. Fortunately the birds lost… Go Raiders!!

CD is good for a PI a game

    GO BUCS

Like you said Joe, in an earlier post last week…we are witnessing a shutdown corner….and he’s in our corner, OUR CORNER!…Thank you God!

He actually did turn around on the end zone PI, but he had made some contact right before he turned his body.

Pretty ticky tacky call IMO. Especially considering the WR was grabbing and pushing him first. Even Stink aid on the broadcast he thought it should have been offensive PI on that play.

The entire D-backfield is playing very, very well…
