Devin White is one of four new team captains
The Bucs announced team captains today.
Joe knows a lot of fans go bananas for this stuff, like when Josh Freeman and Jameis Winston were not voted team captain.
Players voted for team captains today and chose Tom Brady and Mike Evans, Lavonte David and Devin White on defense, and punter Bradley Pinion and backup linebacker Kevin Minter on special teams.
Joe thinks this is a nice feather in the cap of White, the Bucs’ 22 year old savior linebacker. Certainly, there were many worthy captain candidates on defense, including Jason Pierre-Paul, Shaq Barrett and Ndamukong Suh.
There’s no question that White is well respected, and he’s got the big personality and drive.
The captaincy means little, but it’s evidence that White is the off-field presence the Bucs hoped he was when they drafted him.

He is awesome and will become the bucs Luke Kuechly for the next decade…..jameis winston and freeman not being captains if it was a legit vote and not chicago style is telling as was their careers

When a so-called franchise player is a captain one year and then he isn’t a captain the following year then that’s a big story.

I have to agree with D-Rome here.
Anyhow this is great to see for the second year player. That he has earned the respect of his fellow teammates that much to be picked over a lot of great respected players on the defense.

Side note: To the Joe that pined for the Bucs to draft Josh Allen in 2019…He’s a team captain in Jacksonville. Me, I’m happy to have Devin White.

I recall that White was a captain at LSU in his freshman year.
Might be wrong but pretty sure that is what I read after Bucs drafted him in an article about how he is a natural leader.
