Stock Rising On T.J. Logan

August 17th, 2020

Running back returner T.J. Logan

The hearty competition at running back for the Bucs has gotten a lot heartier.

Bucco Bruce Arians was gushing about T.J. Logan this morning after Day 1 of practicing in pads at One Buc Palace.

“T.J. Logan has looked really, really good running the ball and catching the ball,” Arians said. “People don’t’ realize how good he is running the ball.”

Arians added that he “had, high, high hopes” for Logan when he drafted him in Round 5 of the 2017 NFL Draft in Arizona. Logan busted his wrist in the preseason opener and was lost for the season.

Logan is a guy Arians sought last offseason, he said, and Logan did impress in limited action as a returner and a gunner before breaking his thumb in December.

“He can take it to the house whether it’s a run or it’s a pass,” Arians said today of Logan, adding that “he’s finding “his niche pretty quick” in the offense.

To lay out the list, the Bucs have Ronald Jones, LeSean McCoy, rookie third-round pick Ke’Shawn Vaughn, returning special teams captain and third-down back Dare Ogunbowale, along with rookie Raymond Calais and Logan at running back.

Lotta layers of competition in there.

He said the same thing last year with the whole remember his name.
I don’t know if he was injured with something nagging g all year or what, but he surely didn’t look elite.

Was kinda hoping Calais was special back there but maybe it’s just all a smokescreen.

Hopefully Arians can put his ego aside a pick the best 5 RBs because 4 on the team and 1 practice guy is all I can see them keeping.

Betting the public comments are as much as anything specifically intended to signal to other player(s) they need to step it up, as well be accolades of progress BA is directing at Logan.

If Logan, drafted as a depth player by ARI and hasn’t splashed anywhere really, IS doing better than others…could be bad news. Or GREAT news. He could still be in a PR role/depth only too. Without seeing any players, leads me to believe that Dare and Calais could be in trouble…but remember, Dare was the special teams captain last year. Not saying he’s great, or even good…but with the COVID, he would be LEAST CHANGE. RoJo probably has this year to produce, or he’ll be on the bubble early next year. He could even be trade bait if McCoy and Vaughn do well.

Unfortunately, you need your wrist and hands in good shape to excel at RB. Seems like he may be a little brittle in that department.

Hate to say it but Raymond Calais doesn’t show anything on special teams, he will be the odd man out. Hopefully with the expansion of the practice squad, he might have a second chance.

TJ Logan is so bad. How is he still on roster?

  6. Sarasota Garey Says:

With the expanded practice squad I still expect us to probably keep all of our runningbacks.

Thats BAs code for he will be cut next week.

Not a bad call on TJ Logan. I could totally see a RB emerge from off-the-radar here. Just go back and look at almost every RB Brady ever worked with. Almost exclusively they are nonamers that put up 10’s of thousands of yards.

I wouldn’t be shocked at all if Dare or TJ find a big role on this team. I’m keeping my eye on these rookies we got too. Vaughn and C.C. got an uphill battle. And they are getting chances everyday from Tom Brady. It will be exciting if could get to hear any of those 2 talked about.

How many spots did they increase each team’s practice squad to cover Covid losses during the season?

These guys could actually turn out to be pretty important.

Didn’t realize T.J. Logan recorded the fastest 40 time of all running backs a few years ago. He ran a blazing 4.37 40-yard dash.

  12. SOEbuc Says:

RoJo, Keyshwan, and Shady. Dare practice squad.
