Playoffs Missed?

August 26th, 2020

Non-believer.

With all the Bucs additions to a roster many believed to be “talented” to begin with, and the NFL adding another playoff team in each conference, it seems a stretch to think the Bucs won’t make the playoffs this year.

One person going against the grain is BSPN’s Dianna Russini. Over the summer she just thought the NFC is too loaded for the Bucs and she certainly doesn’t see the Bucs overcoming the slimy Saints to win the division.

Russini sort of doubled-down earlier this week on “Stay in Bed,” seen on BSPN weekday mornings. In short, she said the Bucs will miss the playoffs for the same reason so many people believe the Bucs will make the playoffs.

And what is that reason? Park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady.

Russini actually came to the plate with solid facts. She doesn’t believe a 43-year old quarterback can withstand the beatings that Bucco Bruce Arians’ quarterbacks historically absorb.

Additionally, Russini thinks Brady always took advantage of being able to skate through a cake division, which he cannot do now.

That’s another fair point. How many playoff byes did the Belicheats have over the past 20 years because of that stanky-arse AFC East?

Russini spars with former Bucs defensive tackle Booger McFarland in this video over the fate of Tampa Bay. TheBigLead.com has all of her Twitterings spelling out her belief that the Bucs will miss the playoffs right here.

Russini is not the only national talking head thinking it will be Brady who will keep the Bucs from making the playoffs, not the other way around.

For example, NFL Network’s It Girl Kay Adams is very skittish on the Bucs — or any team — banking on a 43-year old quarterback to lead them to the playoffs. The history of 43-year old starting quarterbacks in the NFL is not pretty.

Adams also mentioned Brady in Tampa is the football version of Michael Jordan going to the Wizards.

She’s not wrong about her first 2 points, especially about Arians QBs historically taking a beating.

However if that can change this year and Brady isn’t getting beat down week in and week out, I think we’ve got a very good chance to get into the playoffs.

Yup, I’m drinking the kool aid! Go Bucs!

Hey UB! I found this on the Cam Gill hit yesterday!

Bill Belichick: “Hey Cam. It’s Bill. Did you do it?”

Cam Gill: “Yeah, Mr. Belichick. Got him good too.”

BB: “Thanks, son. Check is on its way.”

  5. SlyPirate541 Says:

    Counterpoints would be:
    1. Brady gets rid of the ball quickly.
    2. The Bucs are tied for 16th in SoS. New England is actually #1 in 2020.

So another person thinks Bruce is stupid and will just feed Brady to the sharks. Aint happening. Bruce wants to win, and Gabbert does not equal playoffs let alone hoisting the Lombardi. What is wrong with these talking heads. Commonsense tells you if they play Bruces normal style, Brady would last about 8-10 games and is done. Again if you saw P Kings peice, you know Brady will not be a itting duck. Aint happening. Brady is a surgeon on the field. With 3 tightends, they are going to rule the middle of the field, with Gronk and Brate and Brate, and it is pick your poisin in the RED Zone with thes 5 targets playing Dunkineers Act #2 – 2WR 3TE. These media people are getting paid alot money to blow more smoke than when the cannons fire in the endzone. GO BUCS !!!

  7. Smashsquatch Says:

We need more doubters, it’s fuel for the goat.

    Well played. 👍

  13. Joe Says:

Joe, why don’t you post the link to that video !!!

Why? Because the link has been included in the story since it was published.

The words “in this video” might just be a tipoff.

    Shes kind of hot.

  15. Rayjay1122 Says:

With Brady is too old to take us to the playoffs logic, then why is old man Brees a lock to win the NFC South? Hmmm?

Send her back to the horse barn to nurse the ponies.

  17. vic robertson Says:

lolz…just lolz. break it down-records are records because no one has done it before. brady didnt come down to get mauled in the pocket. everyone just relax. opnions are like arseholes….heres a stat no one talks about and you can quote me- number of times tom brady has made a defense pay when that team put a chip on tbs shoulder? EVERY TIME. that bvoy is about to stun the nfc south and nfc in general. why? he has the best receiving core that he has never had. yeah it goes like this – the yucs are gonna step up and show the league the others are the sucs. weve got the real deal right here.

  18. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

If the OL does not do a good job, then Brady will beat them into shape.

  19. Big_Buc$ Says:

I don’t disagree with her points. BA’s offensive scheme does require to hold the ball for long developing routes. Lets be honest you will have a TE staying in to block for the first 6 games on the right side do to a rookie starting so that will eliminate 3 Tightend set passing attack and not to mention one may just be on the left side as well. So if that happens that means max protection and only two players running routes and odds are those are go routes or a deep post and the back may flare out in the flats if hes not assigned to block. All in all Brady does get the ball out quick because the routes ran in New England were simple crossing patterns and curls and the running back going into the flats. I really don’t know if BA’s ego will allow that. He has been coaching for over 20 years and he believes in his system. So I’m not shocked if his ego and Brady’s ego clash. With no OTAs and Preseason I’m curious to see how long it will take to get the chemistry down with Godwin, Evans, Howard, and Brate. I know everyone has said that Brady is the Goat and I get that and don’t doubt it but I just hope the defense can pickup where it left off at because I have a feeling they may have to carry us the first few games while the offense gets the timing down. Folks you have to remember that those practice video highlights are not a game speed. So I ready to see how Brady will look in this new Offense outside of New England.

Look, I’m optimistic as ever but I just can’t get out of my mind that this is still the Bucs. I love them to pieces, but let’s be real, if there’s ONE team in the NFL that could screw this golden opportunity up, it’s the Bucs. I’m expecting a good season but you never know how things can go… there’s often been hype and then we’ve been let down. I just wanna see them play.

    Go Bucs!

  21. Buczilla Says:

    Love the photo. 😇

  22. Mike Johnson Says:

Way to much hype over and old 4o somethin yr old QB who his former coach was unwilling to pay. And his batman sidekick gronk who has not..completed a full season since 2011. They were both way overpaid. I’m not as pessimistic as this sportscaster is. But I will say Bellacheat did not go all out to keep brady. Like him or not, There is something about bella that really is phenomenal when it comes to knowing when to get rid of players. He has that 6th sense. i will just wait and see. No excitement for this ole man until I see the W’s.

  23. PSL Bob Says:

The difference is that Brady is not just any ‘old’ 43-old QB. He’s a 6-ring SB champion and GOAT!

  24. Big_Buc$ Says:

    @ Mike Johnson

I agree with you 100%. Know one is talking about how anyone who leaves New England doesn’t look like themselves once they leave. Yes Gronk is injury prone and I do expect him to have load management at the start of the season. Bill is the best when it comes to getting rid of a player when he is done or he starts to fall off. Nobody is looking at how Brady played last year. He really looked 42. I understand they make the argument he didn’t have weapons but when has he won a super bowl with weapons on offense? His best season offensively he didn’t with Super Bowl. Case and point 07, 10, 11, and 17 seasons. At the end of the day No Excuses I want Wins.

  25. Crack3rK Says:

I wouldn’t doubt that Mr. Entertainment, America’s Backup QB can also add a few insights that Sean, Dog the Bounty Gate Hunter, Dirk Keotter Slapping, Payton, can add to his tool chest.

  26. doctor_berto Says:

Like most women, I’m sure she would look better with her mouth closed.

  27. lambchop Says:

This is not a 100% pure BA offense any more. This is going to incorporate quick routes and Tom’s brain, no matter his age, is still firing on all cylinders. The guy will not hold the ball. BA has not had a smarter QB other than maybe Manning.

  28. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Did the Wizards have weapons for Jordan? Apples & Oranges

  29. ClwJB Says:

Bring the hate, the players watch and read all of this too, hope they tape it up in the locker room for everyone to read twice, every day

It’s 2020 not 1994, science, fitness, nutrition is far different today- people live longer and age slower when they are conscience of the importance of nutrition for the mind and body

    Russini should stay in bed.

Big Dog used to say that BSPN would frequently have a setup person to take the other side. Dianna with two n’a is that setup person. She WILL be proven wrong.

    WHY???????????????????????

  35. Drunkinybor Says:

She got exactly what she wanted out of this. Exposure, click bait, debate all with her in mind. You can’t buy this amount of publicity. Her and her agent came up with a good one. Did you see her with that smart Alec grin when they first asked her about it. She looked like a kid in a candy store. Now I am very cynical so I’ll allow maybe she really believes it. But I think it’s for her to get her name out more.
