Joe…you are morally outraged about the Big Ten shutdown. But maybe that is because you don’t see it from their perspective. They have their reputation of being fine institutions of higher learning…not football factories. If this was a minor league football, and not a university, it would be a different story. But in the big ten they actually attend classes and interact with other students. And to these schools, the spread of the disease, and potential liability as a result of the illness, have made them chose to put off the season. They will lose millions… but then their only businesses isn’t football, and the covering of football.

And I know they attend classes at big ten schools because my son who is currently an Analytical Chemist, was in an elective class with one of them… one that got drafted in the NFL draft last year. And no…it wasn’t one of his Genetics or Organic Chem. classes. But still…a real class.

Duke, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Texas, Vanderbilt, Florida, Boston College and Virginia are football factories that don’t care about kids going to class and getting a high-level degree (well, Florida and Texas are also football factories in addition to schools right up there with the B1G) and have rotten reputations for higher learning???? Really? Odd.

Joe.. There are some good Universities among those you listed. Let’s get back to this mid season and see how it is working out. It is still a work in progress for those still planning to play. After all, they haven’t played a game yet. I don’t think the Big Ten and Pac Twelve wanted to walk away from those millions of dollars, unless they thought it involved public safety and liability issues.

  5. Jim Says:

Joe, you want to compare academic rankings, Big 10 vs. SEC?

  6. Joe Says:

    Jim:

That’s not what this is about. So, not taking your bait. Sorry.

  7. Clean House Says:

Ira coach BS in the Hall is laughable- can you get in for one playoff win plus a load of hot air and propaganda now?

    Let’s ask Peyton Manning’s opinion-

“Arians was my coach when I threw those 28 interceptions as a rookie. He didn’t put that in his book, I don’t think, as the QB Whisperer, but he was my coach. To me, he’s got to be a part of those 28 picks. It can’t all just be me.”
Think you might have misheard something. Ira was talking about Tuesdays Hall senior committee vote to select 1 coach among the retired finalists, who are all Super Bowl winners.–Joe

  8. Cobraboy Says:

    The NFL can be harsh.

Two games can crater a career.

“So close, but so far away…”

    “Not For Long”

  9. Pete I Says:

The leaders of the Big 10 and Pac whatever…are fearful men. It is unfortunate America has become a place for fearful men.
