Donald Trump Calls Team Glazer “Fantastic People,” Expects Tom Brady To “Surprise A Lot Of People”

August 11th, 2020

“Tom, I’m telling everyone we’re friends. And tell the Glazers you want a raise, the stock market now reminds me of Shaq Barrett.”

It’s not every day that the President of the United States jumps on two radio shows and talks about the Buccaneers.

Perhaps that’s not a good thing. But it’s certainly a fun thing.

This didn’t happen during the Josh Freeman-Mike Glennon-Josh McCown-Jameis Winston-Ryan Fitzpatrick-Jameis Winston era.

President Trump joined something called The Hugh Hewitt Show, a political talk format, and out of the gate was quickly asked about Tom Brady and Bill Belicheat for some reason.

Trump mentioned that Belicheat would be as good as any military general, and then he talked about his good friend Tom Brady amidst a talented Bucs roster..

“Tom, you know, Tom picked a team where they have a very good offensive line and supposedly great receivers, great receivers,” Trump said. “And he did that on purpose. He didn’t pick a team just for the dollars. He picked a team that really supposedly has some real talent that hasn’t quite gotten there, and in a long time. So I think Tom’s going to be an interesting person to watch.”

When Trump joined sports radio man Clay Travis, his Brady chatter included Team Glazer.

“He probably wanted a change,” Trump said. “He wanted a change, and I think he had plenty of teams to go to, and he picked one with – from what I understand – a good offensive line and very good receivers,” Trump said.

“He looked at that closely. I think he probably had other choices where they had players. I think his biggest thing is he wants to win, and from what I know, and I know [Buccaneers] ownership, they’ll do whatever they have to because they are fantastic people – the owners of the team that Tom is on now.

“I think he’s going to do well in Tampa Bay. I think he’ll do well. I don’t know why it would be a surprise, but perhaps it will be. But I think he’s going to surprise a lot of people. I think he’s going to do great.”

Man, Team Glazer has gotten so much darn publicity for the Bucs out of this Brady signing, even more than the last time their quarterback was in the offseason spotlight — for illegal use of the hands in a fast-food drive through.

Joe’s starting to wonder how many Hollywood types, itching for something to do, will be in luxury suites at the Den of Depression for the Bucs’ home opener against Carolina.

Brady seems to be the ultimate magnet.

The Glazers have hired 3 black coaches, drafted 2 black first round QB’s, have 2 female coaches and a male cheerleader. They are good people, could care less who they donate to.

If I was white, black, Latino, middle eastern and I’m on a championship team to go to the White House, I’d save up my mucus all day and right when I pull back my hand I’m hawking the biggest loogie youve ever seen in his face. I had lately stopped listening to things going on in USA because it was giving me a heart attack every day. But when he talks about the dream team…Will not blog on this article anymore and get people reiled up but that’s been my pro player plan for a while.

  18. Rayjay1122 Says:

That sucks. If this president said it, well it’s BS then.

  19. Smashsquatch Says:

Bucs are officially big time. Signing Brady, especially amidst a pandemic, has rocketed our beloved Bucs to the mountain top of NFL relevancy. No single transaction has done so much so quickly for one franchise, and he hasn’t even taken a single snap. No matter how this story ends, I’m on record as saying we’ve already won.

Well, clearly the President knows more about money and the economy and national security than he does about the Bucs O line! But hey, it’s great to be on his radar, even if just a blip! As for Trump and football, remembering Obama’s embarssing bowling (gutter ball), f”rag coll” first pitch (he made Fauci look good), and not knowing an American football from a rugby ball. So…good on him!

People may not have heard Joe Biden’s unofficial response to the President’s comments about Brady/Bucs ownership:

“C’mon Man, you think Trump knows what he is talking about? He probably doesn’t even like the game. I am so looking forward to debating him. I deal in truth over facts, and I know it all. And when Tampa went to the playoffs, I called it. When they won the big one, I was there. But Trump? C’mon man. He doesn’t get it. He’s totally lost. He doesn’t know a thing about Baseball.”

  30. cgmaster27 Says:

Trump 2020. MY man always speaking the fact on em. And his competition is a child sniffing 90 year old in Biden. And as for the classic “shouldn’t he be doing more important things” comments. 41. unbelievable Says:

Whole lotta mindless sheep in these comments, that’s for sure.

  42. unbelievable Says:

@Buczilla- I do agree with you there. Most people fall somewhere in the middle…

The internet just makes it easy to be polarized and venemous towards one another (and unfortunately, also allows people to live in their own alternate realities).

  43. hammerhead Says:

    “seditious anti-MAGA comments”

^^ This is why we call Don the Con and his supporters fascists… That our disdain for an obviously corrupt narcissistic demagogue with malevolent intentions would lead people to label it sedition is evidence that fascism is taking hold of you people. #magavirus

  44. TheBradyBunch Says:

I know a moron is posting when I see the word sheep. You Trump fanboys are the real sheep. You would follow this idiot over a cliff. The US is in bad shape because of his incompetence and no college football because if his mismanagement yet you wave your Trump flags proudly.

But I thought we were supposed to leave politics out of sports?

  46. Buczilla Says:

I’m with ya man. Cool thing is, times like we are living in now tend to bring out the best in people and we will all eventually rise to the occasion. People have ultimately evolved to be good to one another, otherwise they wouldn’t be breathing right now. Things will settle down for the better eventually.

  47. stpetebucsfan Says:

“their buzz of choice (booze, weed, whatever), 90% of us would get along just fine. 😛”

My experience is totally different. The vast majority of fights I got into or almost got into were under the influence of alcohol. I’ve never had a fight smoking weed…too mellow.

So the ultimate expression of this…decades ago I was covering a Tennessee football game. The crew was hosting a blowout party that night and I was the only “air person” invited. I was honored and looked forward to it.

When my cameraman and I arrived at the party late because of the game…people on the first floor were drinking George Dickel and raising hell…pushing that fight envelope..upstairs the folks were rolling doobies and trying to cop a feel with the young ladies…upstairs has always made more sense to me than downstairs.

  48. ToesOnTheLine!!! Says:

So far this thread hasn’t become the flame war I expected it to be. Personally I think it’s kind of fun knowing that the President of the USA knows even a little bit about a team that’s been as irrelevant nationally for as long as our beloved bumbling Buccaneers have been.

  49. Buczilla Says:

I hear ya man. Nothing is set in stone, but the 90% that I referenced above would almost assuredly keep that 10% that was “acting the fool” in check. From my experience (too much fortunately or unfortunately? “Shrug”😀), the dummies trying to start trouble while they were intoxicated were not tolerated.

Hell, booze, weed, whatever, wouldn’t even need to be involved. Get the folks in this thread together for 4 hours with some decent food (Hooters would be sublime) and I would almost guarantee you that we would get along.

I’m sorry that your experiences don’t mirror mine (a few bruhaha’s certainly but nothing too crazy) with booze, but that is what makes people interesting. We all experience different things and get to share them which each other.

Thank you for your story. Peace.

Buczilla, You are right, this thread brought out some really weird mofo’s. They are called never Trumper’s. They don’t really have a good reason for hating Trump. But when the pied pipers (demorats) blow their horn, these poor sheep have to bleat the way their leaders demand. After all, how else can we get to all the socialistic handouts so promised to the sheep. So, Trump 2020!

There are quite literally dozens upon dozens of reasons to hate the incompetent, lying, grifting buffoon that so many of you would blindly follow off a Cliff. The fact that you can’t see that, that you can’t recognize how many institutions of our country and democracy are being destroyed one by one says a lot more about you than it does about us.

  59. Mike Johnson Says:

Typical trump. Instead of providing america with a solid strategic and contingency plan for this devastating virus, He is spinning, playing golf, giving comments. Doing and saying everything..except the right thing.
