Bruce Arians Sums Up Camp For 7 D-Linemen

August 24th, 2020

Ndamukong Suh.

So how’s it looking along the defensive line, coach?

Bucco Bruce Arians answered that today.

(Keep in mind that one-man wrecking crew Shaq Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul are linebackers).

“Will Gholston’s in great shape. He’s been really, really tough in there,” Arians said when asked about his line. “Vita’s Vita; Suh is Suh. I think Vita will play a little better when he gets that [club] off his hand, a little frustrated. [Third-year Buccaneer Jeremiah] Ledbetter’s shown some improvement. Nacho’s been havin’ a heck of a camp (referring to Rakeem Nuñez-Roches. And you know, ]Patrick O’Connor], Pat’s done a great job; we’re moving him around now. Even Khalil Davis, you know, he’s handling the run well. He can rush the passer; that’s for sure, but he’s handling the run pretty well.”

Nothing surprising to Joe here, but Joe is very intrigued at the confidence flowing for rookie sixth-round pick Khalil Davis, who got standout praise from his position coach last week.

I am very excited about our defense with all starters returning and the addition of AWJ……..

Khalil Davis sounds like the steal of the sixth-round. I wonder how his twin brother Carlos, drafted by the Steelers in the 7th is doing? It would be neat if he was on the 53 final roster and the Bucs were able to pick him up.

I meant NOT on the Steelers 53 roster.

Probably later in the season Khalil Davis will get some solid playing time, good pickup–usually the 6th round is a throwaway. Hoping Ray Calais pans out as a punt returner, do not want to see our star rook Antoine Winfield getting gunnered.

Anthony Nelson is he de or lb in this defense. I thought he was a de replacing Nassib if so, no mention of Nelson is a little worrying.

the reports of davis and motley are very intriguing. would be huge steals if they can produce at a high level.

thats the thing with licht. sometimes he amazes me and sometimes he leaves me scratching my head lol

Drunk, like JPP & Shaq, Nelson is an LB.

    Nelson is an OLB.

Nice! Im still thinking we go DT/DE with our 1st pick next draft (since we’re picking #32), but maybe we go for a QB for Brady to groom if D is holding it together this season.

    Thanks Joe

    Thanks Joe

    No problem!

No mention of Benning Potoa’e. I wonder how he’s doing.

Davis needs to earn a spot which it sounds like he’s doing. We needed to draft a DT this year, and he was it. I’d bet he makes the 53, wouldn’t risk putting him on the PS. Good pass rushing DT’s are hard to find.

Whenever coaches praise a 4th to 7th round pick during training camp it means nothing. Are usually trying to raise the confidence of that person
