A Win For Khalil Davis (Video)

August 18th, 2020

Sixth-round pick DT Khalil Davis.

Joe’s seen the questions: “What about Khalil Davis? How’s the rookie out of Nebraska looking?

Of course, Joe doesn’t have good answers because defensive linemen have yet to do much in training camp and Davis is largely working against camp meat. Also, media is not allowed to roam the practice field thanks to the strict rules courtesy of The Sickness. Each masked media attending sort of has to shelter in place on one assigned spot on the field, often far from the action.

Plus, the Bucs just signed 33-year-old veteran DT Kyle Love, so that’s not exactly a nod to how well Davis is coming along as a fifth-round pick.

Regardless, Joe did find a nugget to questions about Davis on the Buccaneers Facebook page. Below is the rookie defensive tackle beating camp-meat guard Nick Leverett, an undrafted rookie after earning Honorable Mention on the All-Conference USA team.

I don’t see how signing Kyle Love says anything about Khalil Davis.

There are tons of players on the team atm.

  2. SOEbuc Says:

I liked Davis soon as we drafted him and watched his film. Fast and strong pass rusher that can also stop RBs coming through holes. Depth behind NaCho or Love. If they didn’t want to try this guy in Bowels system, they wouldn’t got him fifth round. But there’s no way you can’t be lenient to rookies this year

  3. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Seems like Kyle Love will back up Vita Vea while Kahalil most likely will back up Gholston.

  4. Hodad Says:

I like the way the kid looks, comes from a good program. Bucs needed to draft a DT in this draft, and he’s it. That alone lets him make the team. How well he does in camp will determine how much he plays.

Joes has to put a negative spin on a player that has been in one pro day contact session. Joe you been crying about depth on defensive line , so we sign one. Now you say its cause Davis not showing much, maybe its just depth , that means adding players . not replacing
Nothing written here says its because Davis isn’t showing much. –Joe
