Gronk Says He Won’t Share All The Details Of How He Landed With The Bucs

July 15th, 2020

“Don’t say a freakin’ word.”

Listening to Rob Gronkowski speak this afternoon, Joe felt like the Bucs’ future Hall of Fame tight end was talking about a covert plot to overthrow a rogue regime.

No, Gronk will not reveal the full story behind his return to Tampa.

A guest on CBS Sports Radio, Gronk was pressed to share details how he landed with the Bucs.

“I mean, [Tom Brady and I] talked about it a few times before. I mean, I’m not talking about how it all came about,” Gronk said. “But, you know, I don’t like to spill all the beans.

“When Tom and I talked a little bit, man, and just thought about the situation and how we could pull it off and everything. Everything went well, man. Everything went down as planned. The situations all lined up.”

Yes, Gronk cited his mom living a two-hour drive from Tampa as a factor, in addition to him always liking Florida. And he said Brady was a major attraction — from a football standpoint.

“To gain a chemistry with a quarterback is not an easy task,” Gronk said. “To understand where a quarterback is going to be throwing the ball, a quarterback understanding where a tight end is going to be or the wide receiver, that’s time you gotta put in. That’s a lotta work you gotta put in. And we put in work before this year, nine years. We built up major chemistry.”

But there’s more to the story and Gronk isn’t sharing. At least not now.

Perhaps that will be learned next summer.

I’m so glad Gronkowski is here. I feel good knowing that he has the chemistry with Tom. We are lucky to have him. Welcome to Tampa Gronkowski.
The Gronkowski’s have already been generous to the community.
    May God bless them.

  3. Roy T. Buford Says:

No matter to me. He’s here, and we will hopefully have football, even if just watching it on TV…

Probably not a stretch that he was still feeling good, can be here with Mom, and what the hay, what’s wrong with another $10M in his pocket?

Don’t think that warrants “It’s a Football Life.”

  4. Buc1987 Says:

    Bring on training camp!!!

  5. Buc4evr Says:

RIP David Lewis. You were one of the best LB’s the Bucs ever had. I’ll never forget the 1979 season.

Glad he has his priorities in order….Mom, Brady, Florida……$10 mil.

I’m one who felt the $10 mil & 4th round pick could have been better spent….but I’m hoping I’m wrong…..If having Gronk makes Brady better…..fantastic.

  7. Mike Johnson Says:

Very nice cash landing spot for a guy who has not completed a full season since 2011.

  8. BigHog Says:

Gronk was just a part of the negotiation for NE12…..what else did NE12 get?
