Devin White Hosting Big Bash

July 10th, 2020

Bucs ILB Devin White.

A day after Bucs left tackle Donovan Smith openly confessed on social media it might not be worth it for him to potentially catch and expose his family to “The Sickness” by reporting to training camp, a teammate of Smith’s is saying, in so many words, “Eff that noise.”

Bucs linebacker Devin White is choosing to enjoy life, expecting to host thousands of partiers in his Louisiana hometown Saturday.

White will welcome up to 2,000 at his stables in Cotton Valley, La. The event will include a horse show and trail rides along with some four-wheeling. TMZ.com has the details.

The turnout is expected to be HUGE … the mayor of Cotton Valley, C.C. Cox, tells TMZ Sports he believes roughly 2,000 people — and maybe even more — will show up to the 20-acre property for the get-together.

But, Cox says he’s not anticipating it to be a coronavirus-concerned crowd … saying, to his knowledge, mask-wearing and social distancing will NOT be enforced at the event.

“He was raised here,” Cox said of the 22-year-old former LSU linebacker. “He wants to come into town and he wants to throw a big party.”

Louisiana state police will patrol the party to monitor traffic. TMZ asked a Louisiana state police spokesperson about social distancing practices and the spokesperson danced.

Normally Joe doesn’t give a flip about players hosting parties. Happens all the time both in the Tampa Bay area and in players’ hometowns.

Joe just found the timing to be very interesting. Just hours after Smith vented his frustrations, a high profile teammate plans to host an event with thousands, which will likely make the stay-at-home crowd nervous.

For 2000 people? Probably both, and then some

    A whole lot of stupid.

And this is exactly whey the prospect of having a season with players all agreeing to play seems dim at best.

Because of course the year we sign Brady, the season would get canceled. That could only happen to the Bucs.

I’m hopeful the season happens, but right now it doesn’t feel like the chances are that high.

NFL and NFLPA need to straighten this s*** out and start meeting in the middle on this stuff

Your incessant preaching, to those who mostly *are* wearing a mask when it makes sense, and social distancing, not for themselves but for the comfort of others, has grown, shall we say, a little tiring.

Your numbers are, at best, suspect. If all of your information comes from only one side of the discussion then you only have half the picture.

    Bush’s Coke Spoon Says:
    July 9th, 2020 at 5:18 pm

Do you want to know what countries have done the best? Countries who didn’t shut down their economies, shove people indoors, and close down the schools.

Taiwan has 25 million people and have reported 7 deaths. Japan has 121 million and less than 1000 deaths. Singapore has reported 12 deaths. Iceland a similar number. More importantly, these countries did not follow the WHO (UN) recommendations for treatment protocols. They stuck with what has worked for 100 years of known medical science for treating respiratory distress.

They didn’t abandon typical steps in breathing aid for pneumonia symptoms and go straight to intubation (like the WHO and CDC recommended), a treatment normally only used as a last resort because intubation is known to damage lungs and contribute to death. Instead they stuck with time-tested protocols and actually saved people.

They didn’t abandon hydroxychloroquine + zinc treatments because Dr Fauci said to. They used nebulized steroids like budesinide to heal lungs instead of shoving tubes into them and killing them.
There are doctors all over the world who have been silenced online, who have treated patients with hydroxychloroquine and zinc for decades with near 100% success. Budesinide and other steroid treatments are being suppressed online and by our own government. You would rather complain about anti-maskers, even though there is no evidence whatsoever that masking in public has any medical benefit, as verified by Dr Fauci HIMSELF!
You would prefer to continue blaming fellow Americans and never, ever question the orthodoxy of government functionaries who are ethically conflicted and known to have financial stakes in outcomes. You will never ever question government employees who get significant funding from the same private sector entities who also fund the CDC and the UNs WHO.

    It’s a shame.

  63. gp Says:

This is for those who like to throw out the ‘science denier’ attack

The scientific process involves observation, inference, measurement, theorizing(hypothesis), and testing for proof. I probably left something out but I’d like to speak to these.

In reference to the ‘Rona’ we have observations, inference, and theorizing out the wazzoo. Measurement is still ongoing so the theorizing is premature and testing to proof may be years down the road if ever, considering the questionable measurements.

Some of *my* observations(opinionated to be sure)
Many, a sadly unmeasurable number, do not have any outward symptoms of exposure.
Of those who show symptoms, the vast majority are not severe.
Patients with underlying conditions such as obesity, pulmonary problems, heart disease, and diabetes, represent the worst cases/death count.
I noted obesity first because there is a strong link(yes there are exceptions) between obesity and all of the others.
China does not have a major problem, to the best of my knowledge, with obesity but they are(reportedly) heavy smokers.

Side note: The Chinese government is averse to admitting to any shortcoming(as are we all) and seems to have missed the origination of this situation. In their defense, the mild symptoms in the majority of cases and the tendency to affect those with (already) life threatening conditions disguised the contributing factor of the ‘Rona’. (Personally stress “contributing factor”)
With that said, it is my opinion that this actually started last summer in China, not December as our media want us to believe.

    Inference:
While a mostly mild affliction, the ‘Rona’ can be a contributing factor in fatality for cases with underlying factors(noted above) and may expose underlying issues or impairments in those who are unaware of them. This can be said for just about any virus, especially those that affect the upper respiratory system.
Yes, it is dangerous and a killer, but most will not experience life threatening issues.

    Measurement:
Sadly, there are too many variables here and much of the ‘reporting’ of the numbers has been politicized to an extent that the numbers are not usable in a scientific way. This ‘politicization’ started with China and has only gotten worse with our own media sensationalizing the issue.

Theorizing(hypothesis): Not yet possible. Observational data and measurable data do not match and may be polluted.

Test for proof: Of what? without hypothesis, theory, or clean accurate measurements, we’re not to this point yet.

Consider also (if you can) what this would have been like if there had been a ‘flu’ shot available for this virus last year.
Approximately 30% of the populace takes advantage of the flu shot annually. Those who have ‘high risk’ medical conditions are especially recommended to do this and most do.
Granted, this is a “what if” scenario and we are far beyond that.
I contend that ‘if’ this had occurred, that we would have seen a death count in line with last years flu. And NOBODY would be talking about it.

For comparison. the 1918 Spanish flu affected over 500 million worldwide, killing as many as 50 million. There were over 675,000 deaths in the US. which had a population of 103 million at the time, we were not nearly as crowded then.

With respect to those who have died or lost loved ones to this, I humbly propose that this is NOT the ‘monster’ virus that some would have us believe.
I do not purport to know their objectives for doing so much damage to the worlds economy (not just us), but the damage is being done.

Call me anything you want, but we’re all in the same boat on this one. And it’s leaking.

  78. Steven007 Says:

gp, the virus being small enough to pass through most masks is not a question. It definitively is small enough. But the vast majority of particles that it’s carried in or not. Those particles, are the ones that the mask hold back and traps. Even rudimentary masks do a decent job of this. The better masks do a great job of this. Just wanted to make sure the misnomer of masks not giving adequate protection against the virus was dispelled in an easily consumable fashion. The virus doesn’t float along by its lonesome, it’s always carried along with other much larger elements.

“To act on the belief that we possess the knowledge and the power which enable us to shape the processes of society entirely to our liking, knowledge which in fact we do not possess, is likely to make us do much harm. The recognition of the insuperable limits to his knowledge ought indeed to teach the student of society a lesson of humility which should guard him against becoming an accomplice in men’s fatal striving to control society – a striving which makes him not only a tyrant over his fellows, but which may well make him the destroyer of a civilization which no brain has designed but which has grown from the free efforts of millions of individuals.”

Coker: “They are fake. They all have the words “may,” night,” “probably,” etc in their conclusions.”

Dear Coker, I know this will be tough, but try to concentrate. The fact that they use may and might instead of “will” stop the virus transmission is EXACTLY why you should pay them attention. Imagine if Fauci said, “Wearing a mask will completely stop the virus.” It is incorrect on the face of it. It may stop it from getting you or not. What they ALL have said is that wearing masks “does slow the spread”. You may be unlucky and get a full viral load when coming in close contact with an infected person – -or not.
Case in point: Drs. and nurses wouldn’t come near a virus patient without a mask. Some still get infected but many do not.
IS THAT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND?
You, I’m afraid, are used to news sources that deal in absolutes. Like “this is no worse than the flu”, “It will disappear magically”, and the ever popular, “Hillary is a crook!”

That is a totally reasonable opinion, and I really do not intend to belittle anyone who wants to wear a mask and social distance.

My whole thing here is that lots of people want to put responsibility on ME for their well-being. That is wrong. It goes against natural law, and goes against what our legal system is supposed to be about.

If someone is worried, they wear a mask to protect themselves. Then they don’t have to worry about what anyone else does. When that concept is twisted around to make us each responsible for each other, you are getting into the realm of mass psychological manipulation, and that is wrong. Anybody who had a decent history education will recognize this manipulation, because it is how both the Soviets and the Nazis started revolutions.

Unfortunately, most people today don’t get a decent history education, and the reason is because those responsible for teaching us are deliberately hiding that history so that we don’t recognize what is happening. I honestly believe that we are in the throes of a revolution now. I am scared for my country and spend my time trying to open people’s eyes. Revolutions never end well, not for those on EITHER side. The elites use people and then discard them–even the people who helped them win. Look up what happened to the Brown Shirts in Germany.

Only united can we stand against them.

You are doing exactly what I described, and I promise I am not misunderstanding anything! The left typically makes emotional appeals as opposed to logical arguments. It is a very effective tactic, because we are all emotional beings. It is way easier to make emotional arguments than it is to make logical arguments. (i am not doing a good job explaining–i am hammered)

The dumbing down of the education system plays right into this tactic, because uneducated people understand emotions easily, but may be lost in an intellectual debate.

Each of us is capable of protecting our own health, and each are in the best position to know our own weaknesses and medical needs. You take the precautions necessary for your health, and if you do so, you will not need to rely on my behavior.

COMMENTARY: Masks-for-all for COVID-19 not based on sound data

    {snip}

Data lacking to recommend broad mask use
We do not recommend requiring the general public who do not have symptoms of COVID-19-like illness to routinely wear cloth or surgical masks because:

-There is no scientific evidence they are effective in reducing the risk of SARS-CoV-2 transmission

-Their use may result in those wearing the masks to relax other distancing efforts because they have a sense of protection

-We need to preserve the supply of surgical masks for at-risk healthcare workers.

Sweeping mask recommendations—as many have proposed—will not reduce SARS-CoV-2 transmission, as evidenced by the widespread practice of wearing such masks in Hubei province, China, before and during its mass COVID-19 transmission experience earlier this year. Our review of relevant studies indicates that cloth masks will be ineffective at preventing SARS-CoV-2 transmission, whether worn as source control or as PPE.
