Brady Vs. Bruce

July 1st, 2020

Who bends?

Before Joe gets rolling, the video embedded in this post begins with Antonio Brown chatter. Joe’s not buying it.

Bucco Bruce Arians was pretty emphatic earlier this spring that nutcase Brown was not coming to Tampa Bay.

Besides, if the Bucs are going to buy a name player, Joe would much rather the Bucs try to squeeze Jamal Adams onto the roster than a complete headcase who quit on two of his last three teams and got run off from the third, not to mention he is on NFL warden Roger Goodell’s watch list.

What Joe is going to focus on is the part of the video below where former Browns general manager and gopher for Bill Walsh, Al Davis and Bill Belicheat, Michael Lombardi, talks about the marriage between Arians and park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady.

Lombardi worked for years with Belicheat in Cleveland and New England. And Lombardi noted Brady’s mentality and what he wants to throw is just about polar opposite to what Arians wants to throw.

For example, Brady’s DNA, pounded into his system for nearly two decades by Belicheat, is low-risk passes. Arians wants to throw bombs-away all the time.

“To me, the real fundamental question here is, will Bruce listen to Tom?” Lombardi said. “Who is going to bend? If Tom is going to try to play Bruce’s offense — Tom doesn’t want to throw interceptions. Tom is not going to throw the ball into crowded areas. It’s got to be right for Tom.

“They are so different. The approach between how Bruce coaches and 19 years of what Tom has been in are so different. It would like where I sit in Ocean City to Tokyo. That’s how different.”

Joe hopes Arians gives Brady as much leeway as possible. Look, the Bucs got Brady for a reason. Why take away what works for a guy you openly lusted after?

Joe would hope Arians basically gives Brady the playbook and tells him, do what you wish with it.

You can hear (and see) Lombardi’s full take in the video below courtesy of VSiN.

I mean this is great and all to get this hall of fame nutcase. BUT WITH WHAT MONEY????????????????????????

Are we cutting Brate to sign him?

  2. Iamabuc Says:

What if…(just a thought)…one of the reasons Brady left Bill is probably that Tom got tired of the “dink and donk” he was forced to play in NE, and he really (deep inside him) likes to sling that pigskin all over the place and that’s why he’s really here?…lol…again, just a thought…

  3. Iamabuc Says:

…I believe he can do it too!!

  4. Iamabuc Says:

I mean; he’s got the weapons here to do so…am I right?

    Possible.

I’m sure this Lombardi guy is great and all, but WITAF. Where was the ‘Safe Pass’ last year for Brady? Injuries to all his starters, and an 11 day flameout for AB. He did some serious work just to survive that receiving core dumpster fire.

Does Lombardi think one on one with Evans is risky? Or Godwin? Or Gronk? Or Brate? Or Howard? Cuz you cant double them all.

For Chrissakes…you sprinkle some Brady (hit the open man) with Risky Bisky and you have a helluva lot of fun!

Stop with the ‘it has to be one way or the other’. It’ll be an awesome blend.

Now if AB wanted to play for the league minimum like a few previous NFL starting QB’s who got fired and signed, I’d listen. Hah!

    In BA I Trust!

  7. 541BucsFan Says:

Brady, Gronk, Covid, BLM … repeat. Yawn.

  8. Sport Says:

541 – it is the doldrums of the off season. Let’s just hope there is an ‘On Season’ to wake you up from your nap.

Until then stay safe and sleep well.

    In BA I Trust!

  9. SOEbuc Says:

According to everyone in the NFL world, Brady won six rings only because he was in Belicheat system. BA and TB12 can’t put together a scheme that requires less down field with a top tier receiving squad moving the chains all day to the end zone. And to all the idiots, if Mike Evans or anyone else gets open down field, Brady will be able to connect. He hasn’t been playing in a deep system his hole life but the healthy GOAT QB can’t still go deep at times.

  10. Cainishere Says:

You folks have to understand that with Brady comes additional coaching from him with players, game planning with coaches and he runs your offense correctly to put his offensive unit in position to win games.
Far cry from Mr. Check Your Sheet.
Did you guys not see Brady connecting on 30 and 40 yard passes?
    Nice and crisp!
The Bucs probably should give Shaq a long contract. Tie him down for his career.
    Godwin should be priority next season. 2021 Draft – 1 – QB 2 – DT 3 – DB
Does anybody know if Sinette is in quarantine or has he been participating with Brady and his workouts? Go BUCS!!

  11. Clean House Says:

“Arians was my coach when I threw those 28 interceptions as a rookie. He didn’t put that in his book, I don’t think, as the QB Whisperer, but he was my coach. To me, he’s got to be a part of those 28 picks. It can’t all just be me.”

Jameis Winston…..umm I mean Peyton Manning actually

  12. Clean House Says:

    JW- BA’s GOAT…umm I mean scapegoat

  13. Hodad Says:

Tom Brady throws to whoever is open. That works in any offence.

  14. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    • No team will sign Antonio Brown ever again. He’s already facing suspension for one issue, and there are two additional issues being investigated. By the time he’s done being suspended, he’ll be too old and no one will want him.

    • The dink and dunk was not the issue. Brady wants to prove he can reach the promise land without Bill. It’s that simple.

    • Arians does not call the plays. Leftwich does.

    • Tom will be respectful, but he’ll do what it takes to win, whether it is the called play or not.

    • The offensive line has the most to fear from Tom. He’ll tear them a new one if they don’t do their jobs.

  15. Bucsfanman Says:

Bonzai nailed it! Not to mention the fact that I completely reject this notion that BA’s system is ALL go-routes.
    They will be just fine.

  16. Youngbucs Says:

Clean House i especially like the part where manning said I was a rookie 🙄

  17. El Buco Realisto Says:

Hard to believe that this is even a question, let alone a topic!!!!!!!!! Ole stale biscuit has checked out and proved it over and over again!!!!!!!!! They signed the one qb that can run a full offense without an OC!!!!!!!!!!!! The “real” question needs to be ” Why” do the bucs still need the largest coaching staff in the league!!!!!!!!!!! A more fruitful topic would be who the new GgM and Head Coach will be next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. 813bucboi Says:

Why” do the bucs still need the largest coaching staff in the league!!!!!!!!!!!

because dirk and smitty couldnt develop mud if you gave them dirt and water let alone develop a DB…or OL…or DE…or RB….or A TEAM!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  19. El Buco Realisto Says:

    @813bufoon

And is that why since games were played last year you dropped the “coaching was the issue” to just about replacing and begging for new players!!!!!!!!!!!! The whole point I told you was that the roster has been bad for years and the “real” problem was the ones choosing the players, and it was incompetent lovie and then licht!!!!!!!!!!!

But I am happy to see you finally realize the roster is the “real” problem!!!!!!!!! Even though it took you years to figure it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now you are just a huge moron instead of a total idiot!!!!!!!!! And that is progress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The “real” fans are interested in what you will figure out in another two years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!
