Brady Learning Arians’ Offense

July 28th, 2020

Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians during a Zoom conference chat today.

Bucco Bruce Arians has caught several questions about the Bucs offense since he landed park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring quarterback Tom Brady. Perhaps the biggest topic was whether Brady would learn his offense or would Arians learn Brady’s offense with the Belicheats?

Arians said several times it would be a smoother transition if a smart guy like Brady would learn Arians’ offense rather than trying to teach Brady’s offense to 20 or so other players.

Today in a Zoom conference call, Arians had an interesting answer to the same question.

When queried about how soon Brady might take “ownership” of the playbook, Arians said he hopes Brady learns the playbook and Arians learns what Brady likes and the two can have a happy marriage somewhere in-between. But then Arians added this interesting tidbit: he doesn’t want to change the offense because it hummed so well last year.

“I’m not going to ask the 21 other guys to learn something new when they’ve already had a good year and [good] experiences in the offense,” Arians said.

Valid point. Don’t fix something that is not broken.

The Bucs, as we all know, led the NFL in passing last year and were third in total yards. So this makes all the sense in the world. Don’t monkey with success.

It makes sense to simply add several plays that Brady likes…..and perhaps eliminate a few he doesn’t.

Actually, I think any new QB would face the same options.

Also…there may be some plays that simply weren’t used often….like to RBs & TEs that will be more utilized now.

  2. Youngbucs Says:

But but but they changing the whole offense for Brady. Another false narrative bites the dust. Even though bucs officials have been saying this.

  3. gp Says:

TB12 is well known for ‘seeing’ the whole field and will find the open man. Instead of forcing the called play, he will deliver it to the best option, whether that be a wide out, tight end, or running back.
I foresee this offense really opening up this year.

Tom chose us *because* of the “no risk it-no biscuit” offense, as well as the talent.

Hold on to your seats and get ready for ‘the perfect storm’!

  4. Ndog Says:

How is it they had such a good year with such a horrible QB?

    I digress.

And oh yeah this guy always tells the truth right, remember “the secondary is fixed” last training camp and “our running backs will be just fine”.

We were all suckers last year including yours truly, now some see through his BS, but others are just being setup for more pain. I actually feel bad for the people that are excited about this fraud.

  5. SufferingSince76 Says:

Welcome back, Ndog. It’s like you never left.

  6. Jaymiss Pick6 Again Says:

    Joe: Don’t monkey with success.

With all due respect Joe – with TB12 navigating the ship…monkey with success. More screens, check downs (like TB12 loves) occasional shot deep, less throws into double coverage, fewer picks, fewer pick sixes, fewer total turn overs, more Rojo, more tosses to the TE’s.

Monkey away Bucco Bruce, monkey away my man!!

  7. Jaymiss Pick6 Again Says:

@ SufferingSince76 – me too. Aren’t many of us originals left. When I travel home from Richmond for a game..I wear the orange #11 of Steve Spurrier.

  8. Jaymiss Pick6 Again Says:

Ndog says:How is it they had such a good year with such a horrible QB?

Tongue in cheek comment I assume. Pretty sure they missed the playoffs…again. 2019 does not qualify as a good year.

    Signed Mr. 30/30.

  9. Hodad Says:

Check yo sheet, I’m ballin… yeah all the way to the end of the Saints bench for chump change.

  10. JimbobBucsFan Says:

The way I read thing is this. Tom Brady is the commander on the field. It is his job to lead the charge into battle. Bruce Arians is the general in charge of this army. He is responsible for the strategy and the tactics to be employed.

This new “marriage” has as much chance as success is any. Whatever the past for all involved no one can predict exactly how the new team will play. “That’s why they play the games.”

  11. JimbobBucsFan Says:

The new marriage has as much chance of success as any. [typing dyslexia ;-)]

  12. Mike Johnson Says:

Say Bruse, Better add some, quick Run fer ya life sideline plays for Brady. Because he’s slower than molasses due to all those injuries. Just sayin..

  13. Tampabuscsbro Says:

NDOG YOU WERE THE ONE WHO BROUGHT HIM UP JUST NOW. no one in here even muttered the word Jameis Winston.

Only thing people are saying around here is how excited they are for Tom Brady.

  14. Eddie Says:

It wouldn’t surprise me if Brady already knows the whole playbook. Just needs the reps with his receivers to get ready for the season.

  15. gp Says:

The first couple of games will be sloppy to be sure. Once they all get their timing down though, we’ll be blowing the doors off!

  16. BucEmUp Says:

It will hopefully still be a throw first offense, just with less forcing the ball 20 yards down field. More disguised/designed dumpoff plays and less time for the pressure to get to the qb. If not Brady will have a record number of ints this season.

  17. Ndog Says:

Only the casuals are excited about this year, no real Bucs fan is excited in the least.

  18. Paul Says:

6X Super Bowl winning, 4 x Super Bowl MVP, 3x League MVP, 14 x Pro Bowler. It’s Amateur hour still attempt at humor huh?

  19. Roy T. Buford Says:

Why do I have this eerie feeling that Ndog…on opening day in NO, is hoping and praying that Drew Brees and Taysom Hill collide on one of Sean Payton’s wild plays, and go out of the game…leaving Winston to come in and beat the Bucs. Ndog? C’mon. You can say it.

I’ll say that…there is a good chance if that happens that Winston can throw a slew of TDs for the Bucs. David, White…heck, even Suh gets one.

Perfect! Exactly how this needs to go!

  21. Ndog Says:

    0-0 as a Buccaneer

  22. Looking at You! Says:

N dog.. Wrong again. The real fans? Let me guess what you’re referring to ” you and the small mouse in your pocket” right…

Like a desperate child, you are misguided. AND like a “very typical child” you are screaming that the sky is falling and desperately hoping someone, ANYONE, will listen.. When in REALITY You are talking out your floppy arse..

You’ve just become boring and the ADULTS (The REAL BUCCANEERS FANS) are simply over you and your small mouse.

And quite frankly IF you were a True Blue TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS FAN, well, YOU’D GET BEHIND “TODAY’S NEW AND IMPROVED” Buccaneers Team and SHOW SOME SUPPORT FOR THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS!

Ponder that for awhile Chicken Little. You used to be a pretty cool guy and a strong supporter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers…

If your love and support of “THE REAL FANS” team, the TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS, then SHOW IT KID!

The TRUTH OF THE TRUTH for the TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS “TEAM” is that the SKY IS THE LIMIT! And THAT scares you!

But it’s ok. When you Finally ~ Mentally see the Big Picture that TODAY IS ALL THAT MATTERS! Because in the”real world” kid, TOMORROW IS NOT GUARANTEED!

When you get a little mentally older, I GUESS you’ll understand that.
    And Good Luck with that…

    Go Tampa Bay BUCCANEERS 🏁💪🏁

  23. hammerhead Says:

Nothing new. Arians offense + Brady input and preferences. No different than you would with any QB, except Brady has more experience and wins than most.

  24. Clean House Says:

Jameis Winston led the NFL in total offense-
    Check yo sheet

  25. gp Says:

***Jameis Winston led the NFL in total offense-

    And this year…
The GOAT will be back on top settin records!
