Angered By The PFF Tribe

July 29th, 2020

A Buccaneer is miffed.

And he has a right to be.

The PFF Tribe — also known as the band of number nerds peddling player grades to a football-crazed public that will pay for nearly everything that’s not a newspaper subscription — wrote a full analysis and ranking of every NFL defensive backfield. The Bucs checked in at No. 16 overall but there was no mention of Jordan Whitehead.

How does that happen when the same article mentions M.J. Stewart and Mike Edwards?

Regardless, 23-year-old Whithead was irked and instead of unleashing one of his fierce hits on a tribesman, he did what seemingly all great men do. He took to Twitter.

Joe will let Whitehead’s Tweet — and his 900 snaps as a starter — do the talking.

Knowing of Whitehead’s work ethic and experience, Joe woudn’t bet against Whitehead playing another 900+ snaps this season.

Whitehead and Winfield. Could it be that we have a couple of stud safeties? That would be refreshing!

  2. Rashad Says:

When I saw the mention of Stewart, I was done.

  3. AwShbucs Says:

Whiteheads major weakness is the same one he had when he was drafted. Which is that he isnt very good in coverage. Plays with a ton of heart and is damn good at pursuing ball carriers and making run fits and tackles with power, but again he struggles to cover.

    * Joe woudn’t bet against Whitehead playing another 900+ snaps this season. *

Provided, of course, that the season doesn’t get shut down

  5. AwShbucs Says:

That being said he is a twice the player MJ Stewart is so if anyone was going to be snubbed by pff if should definitely have been Stewart..

  6. Roy T. Buford Says:

All I can offer is “Say with the play.” He’s doing well. But they are no where near “there.” So, keep improving, keep making the D better, and be careful about running your mouth.

Get mad, stay mad. Take it out on opposing offenses.

  8. Show me the TDs Says:

With no preseason games maybe he and LD have some spare time for an English class or two.

Just don’t drop the ball when it hits you hand smh

Is it just me or are we winning the battle of the press clippings.

The stories the past couple of weeks and tweets from other players should have quite a few Bucs peoed at the start of this season.

  11. Colorado Says:

PFF is sometimes right. For example, they had the 6’6 freak wide receiver Warren Jackson from Colorado State as one of the best wide receivers in all of college football. That’s a fact.

Let me be the first to congratulate posters…..we made it through 10 posts without an mention of JW…..OOPS!!!

  13. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Jordan Whitehead is in the same mold as Windfield, 5-10″, 200 lbs. For safeties, both are fast. Whitehead runs in the 4.5’s while Winfield ran a 4.45 at the combine. Both are great in the box and have cover skills to play the slot.

    Show me the TDs.

I thought the same thing then I tried talk-to-text on my phone

Myakka quit alcohol make your post
Man y’all gotta quit acting like I don’t make good posts.

NFL players do not have the time to correct misspellings and such. They’re just trying to make a point. As long as it’s close, press send.

  15. Jason Says:

As you can see, I’m more gooder at english then math.

  16. stpetebucsfan Says:

But Jason that’s because you are goodest at english.

  17. Jason Says:

I hope the kids this year get a better education than I did.

    Too soon?

  18. webster Says:

Its a good thing english classes/grammer/spelling are not required to get ahead in this country. I mean one can become president of the united states without those. What a country!!!! [Easy there Webster. — Joe]

  19. SOEbuc Says:

Whitehead was second in tackles behind LVD in his rookie year. He’s a great tackler and strong safety, but people didn’t know about LVD until the Bucs got mass media this year.

  20. SOEbuc Says:

Tied for sixth place for pressures by DB in 2019.

    ^^SMH^^

  22. BucEmUp Says:

Our safties have been victim.of an outdated and predictable defensive schescheme.for far too long. The young dbs balled out once they were allowed to.play real football

  23. Stanglassman Says:

I thought the most interesting comment by BA Monday was that he thought Carlton Davis was a top ten Cb. I’ve read here on JBF that the Bucs have no true number 1 cb. Seems like the coach would disagree. Top to bottom I think this is the most talent I’ve seen a Bucs roster have at cb. I can’t wait to see how this entire backend come together this year.

  24. Barlow Says:

JW is a stud. Good pass rush this yr if there is a “this yr” will make his game sick again. No doubt

  25. Buczilla Says:

Unless my new crush (if I wasn’t happily married) Cynthia Frelund is talking gobbledygook stats, I’m not interested. Something about cute, smart girls is just damn sexy.

  32. RustyRhinos Says:

So I guess the education from New York Military Academy (1959–64), Fordham University in the Bronx (1964–66); and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Finance and Commerce (1966–68), where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics. Must have all been forgotten?
