Jumping On Bucs Bandwagon

June 5th, 2020

In the driver’s seat.

The Bucs can’t mess this up.

That’s the word from popular sports radio and television personality Adam Schein. The CBS Sports Network and SiriusXM Radio host pens a weekly column for NFL.com and he writes there is no chance the Bucs goof up their fantastic offseason.

Therefore, Schein said the No. 2 team to jump on their bandwagon and ride for a fabulous season is the Bucs.

Tom Brady! There’s not a chance this fails, even with Brady turning 43 in August. The G.O.A.T. is still great. And as star linebacker Lavonte David told me last month on my SiriusXM Radio show, Schein on Sports, Brady’s going to “fall in love” with Mike Evans. David called Evans, who’s eclipsed 1,000 yards receiving in all six of his NFL campaigns, a top-three receiver in the NFL. I don’t disagree — and after the coming season, with TB12 delivering the football, neither will you. Brady will maximize the elite WR duo of Evans and Chris Godwin — and have a blast taking a trip down memory lane while throwing touchdowns to Gronk! Getting Iowa OT Tristan Wirfs with the No. 13 overall pick was a coup. Obviously, building a fortress around the game’s oldest active player is essential.

And circling back to Lavonte David, don’t sleep on this Bucs defense. The unit really started to come into its own down the stretch last season, as the young secondary caught up with the outstanding front seven. The front’s a brick wall against the run, while Shaq Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul terrify opposing quarterbacks off the edges. And it’s hard to find a better off-ball linebacker duo than David and Devin White.

Wouldn’t it be perfect for the Brady-led Bucs to become the first team to ever host a Super Bowl in the home stadium?

Schein makes an interesting point about the Brady and Evans connection.

Brady is a damn accurate passer. Yes, of course, his predecessor was very good with the long ball. But Brady is accurate. Could Brady get Evans more YAC in intermediate routes?

That’s something Evans never mastered. Guess we will find out this fall if that was Evans or the quarterback.

Still, Joe thinks calling Evans out for his lack of YAC is an example of ridiculous nitpicking. The guy is putting up Hall of Fame numbers. That’s not good enough for some?

What Joe believes will happen between Brady and Evans is that Evans will become a much better red zone receiver and likely will get more targets in the end zone.

It always baffled Joe that the Bucs seldom capitalized on Evans’ power forward skillset in the end zone.

Yes…..don’t sleep on the Defense……all the hype is on Brady & Gronk……but our entire starting Defense is back with the addition of Winfield……all of our coaches are back…..continuity.

100 percent agree. Evans Is so much bigger then most dbs and played basketball when younger so he knows how to box a guy out and use his size to Jump up and get a rebound(catch the football). But that technique rarely worked in the past. They tried but unsuccessful.

Also , mile evans and randy moss are only 2 receivers in NFL with 1000 yards each season For first 6 seasons

If evans has 1 more season on 1000, then he will become only player in NFL history to achieve that. Moss caught for 767 Yards in his 7th. Must have gotten injured.

I really think Mike Evans will break Randy Moss’s record this year.

The Great Marvin Harrison had an average of a 2 inch YAC and he’s in the HOF

Glad to see the Joes finally warming up to Brady (Joe always was warm to Brady. The archives are here for all to read. –Joe) and realizing Winston was one dimensional who could throw a fastball but had no touch or finesse. Time to drop the insulting nicknames and call him the real and true “America’s QB”

No doubt he’s alive and well and woke on a Saint’s blog, telling people Jameis Christ is the future and Brees is a rayssis…

“I really think Mike Evans will break Randy Moss’s record this year.”

    NO WAY THIS HAPPENS……because:

    A. Brady was in his prime and his arm was stronger in 2007
    B. The Pats O-Line was one of the best in the NFL
    C. Randy Moss had Elite speed unlike ME13
    D. Randy Moss created separation easily unlike ME13
    E. ME13 is a possession receiver not a burner unlike Moss

  11. SOEbuc Says:

Brady and Evans will kill it up top in the end zone and and Brady and Godwin will kill it over the middle and outs. Not to mention our list of TE. No need for Davonte Freeman. Good teams have good defensive vet depth like Clay Matthews.

Agree with SOEbuc. Took the words right out of my mouth.

Evans caught 1,000+ yards in his rookie year with Glennon. 1,157 yards with NBA Goggles Winston in 13 games.

People always talk about Tom’s deep ball and don’t realize Jameis couldn’t connect for sh!t on the deep ball before BA squad last year.

SOE you are spot on correct, watch M E explode with an accurate qb. Can’t wait for the season to begin.GO BUCS

Evans fights & jumps for the ball so hard that it makes it tough to get YAC most of the time… Brady will love ME….

  16. bucsince79 aka bumaneer Says:

Evans will get more YAC with a GOAT throwing to hm…

Agree completely…don’t fall asleep on the defense.

Clearly and certainly on a national level..Brady-Gronk were the story and when people started looking at the Bucs offense they saw all the talent there.

The D is under the radar…but for the reasons you mentioned that could all change dramatically!
