Bucs Report To Training Camp July 21

Bad news
Buccaneers training camp really is around the corner, but it comes with bad news.
July 21 is reporting day for the Bucs, Bruce Arians said today. However, Arians was clear that he expects fans to not be allowed at camp this summer. Of course, that’s all tied to The Sickness and related precautions.
Last year, the Bucs reported July 25 with their preseason opener on Aug. 9. This year, the Bucs launch the preseason on Aug. 14 in Pittsburgh. So they’re arriving four days earlier and getting on the field five days later.
Joe asked Arians about the early start today, but he had no answer and just added that he might host a “quarterback school” before that, which is permitted by NFL labor rules.
Joe feels like crap for fans who love attending camp. What a kick in the groin after a rough late-winter and spring.

Something I haven’t heard talked about, what if players test positive? Will they be required to quarantine for weeks? Even if they’re asymptomatic? With the mediocre testing commonly showing false positives and the fact that thousands are likely carrying the virus right now and never know it, it seems that could be a huge problem.

BradentuckeyBuc – They would likely be tested daily until they pass like 3 days in a row without a positive test. As for the test failure rates, a lot of that is fake news – just studies pushed out by small labs as PR statements to get their name in the news. The tech and testing is literally improving by the day since there is so much money being thrown into this – and who knows for sure in 2 months what we’ll have at that time.

If the recent protest gatherings don’t reveal enormous spikes in Covid 19, I don’t want to hear anything more about this fakedemic. Much ado about just another flu strain. Hopefully, the NFL and the rest of the free world get back to a sports normal before football season really starts. This empty stadium idea is complete rubbish. Fill Ray Jay with fans!

You bring up a good point although I agree with Rod that the testing is improving dramatically almost by the day. By July 21st I expect it to be accurate and quick.
So when a guy tests positive he’s removed from team locker facilities until he can test negative. Contact tracing will mean that every other player would be implicated and quarantined but given they’ll be getting frequent testing I think health officials will sign off on letting things continue.
The problem will be if multiple players on one team test positive for a mini hot spot? What then? If it makes competitive balance a farce will the league be forced to act.
The truth is that nobody really knows what’s up ahead. As TBBF likes to point out however with billions on the line you can bet they’re going to be busting hump and coming up with answers.
And of course this is not just the NFL. Labs around the world are working on cures and vaccines because this represents not just the TRILLIONS in our economy but TRILLIONS around the globe.
I fear the Chinese come up with a cure…they’re said to be getting close. A cure could be better than a vaccine. It wouldn’t prevent it but it would render it as some have tried to wish…much more in the realm of the regular flu because there would be a treatment for it. Vaccines on the other hand take a long time and then have to fight through the vaxers.
So if the Chinese discover the cure will we trust them? Even if it’s proven demonstrably in nations around the world?

Your speaking about specific suggestions but you’re using very vague terms and that’s the way confusion begins.
Ex. A player must test negative. Ok, to what specifically are you testing? Negative is too broad a range to really make realistic plans around.
I’m not disagreeing with your ideas or plans, for the fact that it’s not possible to agree or disagree with you because there’s no agreed upon ideas , words, specifics . First find common ground and mutually agreed upon goals. Then proceed with the process.

This would be a good year to temporarily raise (or remove) the salary cap.
Teams should be allowed to bolster their rosters in preparation for an outbreak.
Would be a rather simple thing for the NFL to do.

Why in the world would they raise salary cap? Owners will be trying to cut salaries as it, due lack of fans in the stands. See baseball.

The only people who should attend anything are those from nursing homes and those over 80.
Anyone else is more likely to die from a car wreck going to training camp than this bug.
Take away nursing homes and those over 80 and the death toll of this wouldn’t even be reported on.

Sorry folks, I come here to enjoy a little chat a about my favorite sports team in the world. Sorry to hear fans are not likely to be at camp. I live in Colorado, and it is THE trip I want to make sometime and attend a camp. Joe, you’ll still be giving out camp nuggets, right? I live for those in Training Camp Season. Starting early?
