Bruce Arians Says Wear A Mask

June 22nd, 2020

Bucco Bruce Arians has made a public service announcement.

Maybe it’s just Joe’s sense of humor, but Joe finds it a little funny that Arians is working with Hillsborough County officials to implore folks to wear a mask — while he’s not wearing a mask — as head coach of a sport that will soon feature men within inches of each other snorting, grunting and heavy breathing in piles without masks. See the video below:

No, Joe’s not against masks. In fact, Joe was quite grateful the other day to see the woman sneezing near Joe was dressed like a bank robber.

All the proud boomers down here think it is “soft” to wear a mask. So yeah there’s that. the masks that are being worn to protect them, but are openly mocked. Yep welcome to America LOL. Oh and by the way there wont be any fans in the stands this regular season.

  2. stpetebucsfan Says:

Of all the horrid inconveniences associated with Covid masks seem to me to be at the bottom of the scale.

They are now passed out free in many places, they are readily available but yeah they are a bit uncomfortable. A tip here…experiment…I paid $10 for an online purchase that has been great…special vents make it breathe easier and it fits far more comfortably than others with a Velcro strap. If we gotta do it might as well make the best of it.

It’s the other inconveniences that bother me a lot more…like losing this football season. The irony is in countries where they were stringent observers of wearing masks they bent their curves far enough to open safely.

IE…The discomfort of a mask may help erase the discomfort of going through 2020 with no football.

Not only at first…they will still tell you unless it’s a special mask with face shield YOU get no protection. However YOU protect others by wearing the mask.

Masks do not protect us from others…they protect others from us!

@spbf: even Fauci says they are largely symbolic.

If you click on the following 2006 Penn State study, you’ll will read that all masks are ineffective in preventing viral transmission unless they’re N95.

    https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0196655305009119

If 14 year old study confirms this, then why shame those who choose not to wear a mask? All of the predictions are not coming true. Increases in COVID cases are not correlated with overwhelmed hospitals and millions in fatalities. Regardless of your political bent, we need to stop preying on people’s fears, and the only way to do this is to trust the facts and respond accordingly.

  17. Buc1987 Says:

I haven’t worn a mask at all and were what now 4 months into this shyte…

    I haven’t caught a damn thing.

I’ve also been back to work for 5 weeks now, waiting tables in a high volume restaurant at 50% capacity and we DON’T wear masks. None of us. MOST of the customers don’t wear them either. Like 95% of the customers. They just walk right in mask -free.

Thought I would have caught it by now, but nope.

This is why Joe (and others) have given up. Every day, there is someone claiming this and disputing that. Don’t know what to believe, honestly. First masks were no good. Then they were good. Now they are bad again (throws hands in the air in frustration). Someone make up their damn minds!

Wash hands and practice common sense. Joe wipes down his truck interior with disinfectant wipes whenever he leaves a place. Has a bottle of Big Storm hand sanitizer in the truck as well. Uses gloves at the gas pump.

Have never heard so much conflicting info, really don’t know what to believe. And Joe has heard the same from many.

  22. Beeej Says:

At the outset, they said healthy people need not wear a mask. THEN, they admit they said that only so there would be enough left over for medical people. One thing that hasn’t changed is anything less than a N95 mask doesn’t hinder the virus from spreading. , doc wearing a t-shirt over your head DOESN’T help

    @ DBS

  26. mark2001 Says:

Really, the reason why you were told not to wear a mask in the first place was rather simple. For one, the disease was rather concentrated in the beginning, and not needed in the far flung regions of the country. But the primary reason was because due to sleeping at the switch of our highest leaders, we didn’t have enough for our medical personnel. And without them having them, there would be no medical care, due to illness of the HC providers, or them just figuring it was too dangerous. Was it deceptive, to some extent…yes. But it was set in motion by our highest leaders being asleep at the switch.

  27. georgescores Says:

Pittip, you are a bu-t head ! They evaluated the masks to see if they protected the wearer from being exposed to virions. All the talk about COVID and wearing the masks is to diminished the spray from the wearers breathing, coughing and sneezing to protect others, not oneself. Wearing the surgical mask is doing something for those around you, like the cashier at publix ! She/He is wearing one to protect you so it is a courtesy to reciprocate protecting the employee serving you !

  28. mark2001 Says:

george…very true. There could be some protection to yourself, but most, including me, don’t always wear them properly. And those viruses are very small…less then 3 microns in many cases. But if I can save someone else’s life, the inconvenience is well worth it.

  29. gp Says:

Scientists and experts who allow politics to direct their statements become propagandists and nothing more. Those who follow them and repeat their reports ad nauseum are lemmings. Go lemmings go!

  30. mark2001 Says:

And I’d be surprised if Arians, any other coach or GM, allows someone to walk in the room for a press conference without a mask. Or if fans were allowed, to attend the game without one. That is because he knows it cuts down on the aerosol, and makes things a little safer.

Amazes me that some think multimilliionaires like Arians and the Players, and the Owners of a multi-billion dollar business, are tricked into wearing masks and other suggested methods to cut down the spread of this simply flu virus …or that they are somehow victims of a hoax or tricked by the medical establishment. Or maybe they haven’t thought about it.

I wear one…and still might catch it. But I do what I can for my fellow man, to reduce their chance of contracting it. Just the moral thing to do, in my book.

  31. Cgmaster27 Says:

@georgescores the masks dont do anything. And on top of that, do you wear gloves everywhere you go? Stop being naive. This virus is spreading wether you sheep wear masks or not. Try working in a 90+° kitchen with a mask on. You all wear masks like they are some shields of protection while you accept cash and everything else without gloves on. This stuff will spread no matter what you do.

  32. mark2001 Says:

Politics has skewed this…to the down side. Remember the statements… less than 60 thousand deaths? Ever see Birks curve showing the cases and mortality down to almost nothing by now? Sure they soft played it…because they would be fired from their positions on the task force, and silenced. The first thing the upper echelons of government did is muzzle many of the agencies designed to inform us, routing their communications through upper government channels. Some governors pushed down reporting requirements and blamed covid illnesses and deaths on other things. In Florida and many other states, we don’t even count tourists in our calculations, and fire officials that have tried to report real numbers. And if we don’t test, cases will go down. That is like saying if we don’t test students in their schools, they will never fail to learn and be promoted to the next grade. Wow.

    Snake boy:

    Define “case.”

Someone actually sick? Hospitalized? Or just tested positive?

Additionally, with Cases” as the numerator, give me the correlating denominator of “tests.”

  34. stpetebucsfan Says:

Wow some folks seem to resist getting this!!!

Protection involves a two way street.

First there is protecting yourself. THIS is where folks are stirring the pot here.
Not only would you need an N-95 or better mask you’d need a plastic face shield for maximum protection for YOURSELF.

Then there is protecting EVERYBODY BUT YOU!! Every study has shown that wearing masks decreases the rates of infection. NOT because the people wearing them are protected….but because EVERYBODY is protected FROM the people wearing them.

What is hard to figure out here? Masks for personal protection are not only cumbersome but require plastic face shields for TRUE protection.

Masks for societal protection are totally different!!! Cobra believes that asymptomatic people are not contagious…he has posted no links to back that up. I OTOH have posted links showing degrees of success with mask wearing societies.

The U.S. has 4.75% of the worlds population yet close to 25% of the deaths!!!

Let that sink in and face freaking REALITY. 5% of the population 25% of the deaths. Do our hospitals suck? Are our people getting inferior treatment?
Not IMO…I’m still provincial enough to believe the USA still has a world class health system.

DEATHS!!! Testing has nothing to do with DEATHS. Is our population that more predisposed to poor health than others…probably somewhat true…but the reality is if people could just get past the politics that we have totally BOTCHED our response to this.

You can say…Trump is such a great man…tax cuts…court nominations etc…that he’s given us the greatest economy since the “Roaring Twenties”…yadda…yadda…you can “say” that all of his other achievements outweigh this massive FUBAR!!!

Or you could say like the man himself at the top that HE has NO RESPONSIBILITY. Does that mean we have an irresponsible President? Just askin’ for clarification.

You cannot say that the USA did not totally screw the pooch in our response and the rest of the world is now looking at us with WTF happened to the USA.

CG.. They do have some positive effects… by you sound like the guys around in my youth that would say, most of us will die in a nuclear war in the next decade or two…so why bother? 37. JAG Says:

Simple fact. If you cover your nose and mouth with a mask, then less particles leaving your body will be expelled into the air. Im so tired of all the self righteous idiots saying a mask does nothing. You are trying to convince yourself at this point. The same people saying that masks don’t do anything must not remove their clothes when its time to use the restroom… let that sink in.

  38. BudMotel Says:

@stpetebucsfan I was going to avoid posting because on this but your post requires a response. The WHO actually clarified recently that COVID-19 spread via Asymptomatic carries is very rare (in the link at the bottom). They’ve also backtracked on how spreading the virus via hard surfaces is also very rare, so Cobraboy is correct with his statement.

As for deaths, the CDC sent out a memo on April 4th on how to document COVID cases/deaths. Doctors have been allowed to assume a death was via COVID-19 without testing since that date. A study published by England recently shows that out of the 40K deaths in that country due to “COVID-19”, only 1,265 deaths were solely based on COVID-19. The rest had pre-existing health issues. The CDC has even stated that the mortality rate for this virus is at .4% currently (4 deaths for every 1000 cases). The entire reaction to this virus appears to be political over factual at this point. It’d be great if people would step back and look at the big picture.

And please provide a link to a study saying masks work. I’ve been in search for one but all I can find are OPINION articles on masks as no actual study showing that they’re effective at blocking respiratory illness particles exists.

TBBF the funniest thing about the masks and as you say most people look good in them. Remember just a few years ago how much anger and hate about the muslims custom of the women’s face mask, I can’t spell it or I would have used it. But I believe that they also make those women look good. Seeing just eyes and nose and sometimes a smile.

  43. Joe McGeehan Says:

If you believe that wearing a mask is a waste of time and it deprives of you liberty and freedom to do whatever you believe is best for you, then go for it. What frosts my arse is those who feel that they have a right to impose their feelings about wearing a mask on those who choose to wear on. You have no idea why they chose to put one on. You don’t know what their health concerns for themselves and their families are and unless you do, shut the hell up. If you ever meet someone who has contracted Covid-19 and survived it, ask them if the whole thing is a hoax and a government conspiracy. Just because it doesn’t kill you doesn’t mean that there are no long lasting, devastating aftereffects.

Just walk me past that one deniers. Are we just unlucky? Or are those societies that did wear masks and observe social distancing who have cut their rate dramatically just lucky.

Until you guys can explain away that single fact..4.75% of the total population yet 25% of the deaths the rest is all noise.

  48. HYD Says:

So easy to pick the racists in these comments btw… you all should get better at hiding your ignorance. Most of the same people against masks are also against BLM.

  49. Rod Munch Says:

If you’re taking out your garbage…. Don’t need a mask
    If you’re walking your dog…. Don’t need a mask
If you’re going to the beach…. Don’t need a mask

If you’re going to the store… this is where it gets tricky…
    …if the store is empty… don’t need a mask
…if the store is packed… you should wear a mask

If you’re going to the movies… same thing…
    …if the theater is empty… don’t need a mask
…if the theater is packed…. you should wear a mask

If you’re going on an airplane… should always wear a mask.

    Easy rules.

Anyone, like the idiots in Tampa who wanted to arrest people for walking their dog at 9:01pm – those same idiots saying you need to wear a mask at all times are making it political. Just as political as the idiots saying you shouldn’t have to wear a mask on an airplane. They’re both morons.

In any case everyone is going to get this thing – it has mutated to be less and less deadly and more and more contagious – which is to be 100% expected. A study from a scientist at Stanford says if you’re under 70, you have 99.94% survival rate. A top doctor in Italy says the thing isn’t even remotely as deadly as it was in March, even people who are 80 or older, are up in bed talking when they would have died a couple of months ago.

These things run their course and life goes on – the only time it doesn’t is when people just want bad things to happen purely for political means.

  50. gp Says:

There is debate about deaths attributed to the illness which may have not been actually caused by the illness. You do have to consider other sources for your indoctrination, er , news to find alternative viewpoints.

“Or are those societies that did wear masks and observe social distancing who have cut their rate dramatically just lucky.”

Are you saying no one in America has been practicing social distancing for the past 4 months? If so you’re wrong most of us have…everywhere we go.

  52. Buc1987 Says:

HYD..some of us non mask wearers are simply not racists…..and simply don’t give a rats ass one way or another about BLM.

  53. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Hide the ugliness….wear a mask….just think……no pimples….no bulbous nose……no rotten teeth……if she’s got pretty eyes…..she’s a fox….

Then, the mask comes off and if it’s not 2am after a few…..not looking so good…

  54. Alanbucsfan Says:

The masks’ primary purpose is to prevent YOU from spreading the virus, whether you are asymptomatic or haven’t been tested.
Hopefully, you have enough sense to not go out in public if you tested positive.

  55. mark2001 Says:

1987… I think St. Pete is saying that some societies are very serious about masks. Just go to the grocery store, and ask how serious we are in America. Comparatively, considering how communicable this thing is, not very.

No one I know of said not wearing a mask is racists and means you don’t give a rats A about BLM…it means you don’t give a rats A about anyone else.

And just because people die without being diagnosed with or tested for the illness, doesn’t mean the illness didn’t precipitate their death, or cause it.
With the limited number of tests, I’d speculate this could happen easily.

  56. stpetebucsfan Says:

    87

No I’m not saying folks are not trying to practice social distancing. I am saying that many…including obviously you…do not wear masks.

These are called mitigation!!! NONE of them is absolutely perfect.

mit·i·gate verb make less severe, serious, or painful.

Notice it doesn’t say “cure” “stop” or “fix”.

It takes the combination of mitigating factors to achieve the maximum effect.
Wearing masks is considered among the most important.

BTW 87 I’m happy you live in Pasco. You wouldn’t be working in St. Pete I do not know about Tampa haven’t gone to any restaurants outside of here. NONE here have staff working without masks. I’m not sure about the law…I do know there is no demand here for restaurants with unmasked servers.

People need to ease off the “absolutes” here. Mitigation does not mean something works absolutely…it means in the case of masks that the rate of infection was cut significantly enough to be worth the effort…in the opinion of the majority of scientists.

Hey you can still find climate change deniers I’m sure there are plenty of virus deniers as well.

  57. mark2001 Says:

Secondly, consider…if your parent dies, and it looks like a heart attack or stroke, and you make a marginal income, do you want them tested? Maybe not, if it means you might be quarantined without pay for two weeks, and default on your car or rent. Just saying… there are reasons while the covid deaths might be understated….

And even if you die a couple years earlier before you would otherwise because of this disease, what makes that OK? Where do you draw the line? On the number of years? Two, three…ten..twenty? Twenty is too many, but ten isn’t? Like I said, carried to an extreme, no death is important, because we all die sooner or later, and life becomes meaningless. I think that is called Nihilism.

  58. Radsy Says:

    Cobra,

Simple question. Why has America struggled way worse than any other nation when it comes to COVID?

So basically, you’re saying that if I choke to death on the misinformation in one of your posts then I should be listed as a covid death?
I wonder how many of the 14 killed in “gun free” Chicago were wearing masks?
How many will also be listed as covid deaths?
And get off your high horse about ‘caring’ about all the deaths. all you care about is your agenda, Maybe you should move to Chicago where your agenda fits.

  61. mark2001 Says:

If you had covid and it is deemed to contribute to your death? Yes.

My agenda is honesty about this virus and its effects on America and asking Americans to love one another in action, not just in words. You have heard of the later before, haven’t you?

  62. mark2001 Says:

And BTW…if you found out that person choking to death had Covid, you better do some contact tracing. And that would be valuable and should be statistically included in those contracting the disease.. don’t you think so?

  63. stpetebucsfan Says:

“all you care about is your agenda, ”

Whoop there it is! What is Mark’s agenda?

Saw I saw a spokesperson on CNN blasting them for causing low turnout…he claimed…CNN spent two weeks saying what a death trap the arena would become..(insert your own wild hyperbole here) and that frightened would be attendees.

I watch all the nets and CNN did NOT say this…CNN DID carry experts who said this…scientists. CNN also carried the President and his spokespeople who said just the opposite…no big risk…oh the waivers…did CNN SAY the waivers.

Should CNN or any news net ignore all of this. Is reporting what the scientists say anti-Trump?

  64. bucsfaninoregon Says:

I can’t believe that there is a semi-cogent discussion of the virus on this site. Maybe you guys are waking up to the prospect of no Tom Brady in 2020.
Joe, there is a simple reason why the off-on on masks. This is called a “novel” virus. This means “new”. They can have guesses how it will transfer and act but since it is new then one can expect “new” news about it.
It may even turn out that it is very difficult to get infected by eating it. Stomach acids MAY kill it and it is found to transfer via the air to your lungs. MAYBE if you get it on your hands and you rub your eyes you get it. But, unlike GP and snake boy, I say maybe.
Has anybody heard of a major university or CDC study to find the answer to these questions? I haven’t. Of course, if you have a president who wants to pretend it is going away magically and governors like yours that are following his orders, the priority for such studies is probably not there. We’re out of WHO so no leverage there.
Ironically, these “business as usual” pushers like our Dear Leader are creating the conditions so that there will be NO business as usual. There are millions of Americans like me who believe this is the real deal and not a liberal exploitation of the masses. We also have $$ that will not be going to airlines, cruises, resorts, gambling joints, movies, restaurants AND ball parks/stadiums.
That’s the facts of life. This life.

~ Dr. Henry Kissinger, Bilderberger Conference, Evians, France, 1991

People who cannot even consider that they may be being lied to, are either ignorant of history, or they are true Marxists willing to sell out their family and neighbors to fulfill some fantasy of utopia.

  68. gp Says:

    As I posted before
Scientists and experts who allow politics to direct their statements become propagandists and nothing more. Those who follow them and repeat their reports ad nauseum are lemmings. Go lemmings go!

So I guess I was wrong about you Mark. You don’t know what the agenda is, you’re just a well meaning lemming.

  69. Bush's Coke Straw Says:

Coach’s time would have produced much more value if he spent it teaching proper nutrition, which is much more effective fighting infection than an ill-fitting mask.

  70. mark2001 Says:

St. Pete… I do have an agenda…for us to mitigate the expansion of this virus, find treatments to make it less deadly, and hopefully find a vaccine… to save the lives, literally, financially, and emotionally, of millions of Americans, and hopefully the rest of the world.

I think there are millions of Americans with the same agendas…and some with others. I’ll own that.

  71. mark2001 Says:

GP..Scientists and Medical Experts have a hard time getting their message out because of political interference, obfuscation, and false information. There is a problem in those areas…you just target the wrong source. Most Scientists and Medical experts don’t have an agenda to trick or manipulate you. But politicians do. I could call you names, but I’m trying to act like a Christian in inspite of all your threats and name calling.

  72. Buc1987 Says:

SPBF…well from what I gather most of the restaurants in Pasco employees are wearing masks….but I’ve heard of quite a few that aren’t. Mom and Pops.

We have a huge staff too.

  73. Pittip Says:

What’s interesting about this comment chain is how one is willing to dismiss the facts concerning the ‘slickness’. The real numbers to watch are fatalities attributed to the ‘sickness’, which are aligning to the numbers of a typical flu season. In all of eastern Oregon (deep blue state), there were only 20 contracted COVID cases and none of the infected got sick! Everyone should be glad about these findings, and it should alleviate the fears about the sickness allowing us to return to normalcy! Adhering to virtue signaling practices, like forced non N95 mask wearing, which is proven to be ineffective for virus transmission and contraction by the 2006 Penn State study, makes folks weary about politicians motives. The facts don’t support their measures are for health reasons. It appears leadership is using fear as a means gaining political good will at the unnecessary expense of lost jobs and businesses.

  74. Brandon Short Says:

You are free to wear your almost completely ineffective masks against a virus with less than a .2% mortality rate (CDC’S numbers, not mine) because the idiots in charge told you to. These are the same idiots that you don’t trust due to police brutality and racism. Seriously, think for yourselves.

  75. Bush's Coke Straw Says:

    HYD Says:
“So easy to pick the racists in these comments btw… you all should get better at hiding your ignorance. Most of the same people against masks are also against BLM.”
    .

    .
Another race baiter like Stan Glassman. If you ever criticize someone who is black, you are therefore a racist. HEY look at my new username! I criticized a white guy!!!! Now I hate white people!!!!!! Call me a racist, dumbarse!

What you believe is exactly what BLM wants you to believe–cant criticize or you are racist. Make people afraid to debate ideas, because no one likes being called a racist, so you just shut them up. That is a marxist tactic. The founders of BLM are admitted Marxists who’s stated goals are the destruction of the American way of life. Hell, yeah, I don’t support that.

Guess what? All back people don’t support them, either. Are they racists? Get a life.

  76. Brandon Short Says:

CDC numbers… 0-49 year olds have higher mortality rate with flu than Corona. Other numbers, states report 60-80% of all deaths in long-term care facilities where the average stay is 13.7 months before death and the mean is five months. Good thing we quarantined the working class so the people that have long since retired can remain being completely unaffected by what the rest of us do.

  77. bucsfaninoregon Says:

The prime example of a scammed individual is one who would believe politicians vs. lifelong governmental scientists who have worked for both Demos and GOP for their careers. I mourn for all those hard working non-political Americans who have been trashed in the last 4 years.
Dr. Fauci is an example of the who we should be listening to. Why isn’t he giving 3 or more briefings a week to update us all? Why isn’t Brix? Why no more briefings by anyone? The virus has gone away? the virus is a hoax?

Unlike those who can’t decide what to do about masks we all know why Fauci is almost silent. We ALL know. That’s almost as tragic as the virus itself.

  78. D1 Says:

    Stpete,

From a New England Journal of Medicine article written 1 Apr which states in the second paragraph: “We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection. Public health authorities define a significant exposure to Covid-19 as face-to-face contact within 6 feet with a patient with symptomatic Covid-19 that is sustained for at least a few minutes (and some say more than 10 minutes or even 30 minutes). The chance of catching Covid-19 from a passing interaction in a public space is therefore minimal. In many cases, the desire for widespread masking is a reflexive reaction to anxiety over the pandemic.” NEJM – Universal Masking in Hospitals in the Covid-19 Era”

The corona virus family (yes there is more than one corona virus in our biosphere that have been with us for years) varies in size from from .01 microns to .03 microns.

Commercial masks only protect down to .05 microns. Even the vaunted N95 mask, if properly fitted by a professional, offers protection down to about .04 microns. Additionally, a vector area that no one addresses is through the eyes; any calls for goggle wearing by the general populace? (the answer is no)

An abstract from the University of Iowa which has tracked new cases and masks. The conclusion is mandatory mask wearing reduced new cases by .9 over a 1 week interval and reached a maximum efficiency of 2.0% after 14days.

Another study claims that as many as 75% of the total cases, transmission is unknown or unaccounted for.

You are not responsible for my health, Alan. That is nothing but a psychological tactic to create compliance with a marxist “divide and conquer” agenda. It is a good psychological trick, because we DO care about each other. That is why we are the last nation to be conquered.

    Feminism = divide and conquer
    GLBT = divide and conquer
    BLM = divide and conquer
Mask wearing = divide and conquer

Soviet documents were quite clear on how to defeat the US (and thus the west). Of course, you would be hard pressed to find a history class that teaches this any more, because the education system now only teaches–divide and conquer.

Agree with your observation. Mom and Pops are free to act as they see fit…franchisees and corporate have to follow their orders which are primarily not dictated by science or even politics but rather liability.

It’s not just the Doctors or Politicians who are driving a lot of policy right now…liability and how it will play out in the courts in a post Covid world are also serious considerations.

  84. mark2001 Says:

    Good point St. Pete.

I’d think it is mostly a matter of liability, primarily regarding the employees of businesses. First time an employee wins a case against their employer for failing to have reasonable safety precautions, and there will likely be a landslide.

And BTW… When someone asks you to waive liability, it should tell you something.

I know of one business… Menards, that won’t even let customers into the main part of the store without a mask…and they will sell you one if you need one. But that is in Wisconsin….

  85. mark2001 Says:

    Coke…

You may be right that many Americans rather accept the death of loved ones, and other fellow Americans, than to have contact tracing..or wear a mask. You won’t get a disagreement with me about that. I see it all the time.

  86. mark2001 Says:

BTW coke… many nations are working to maintain privacy while tracing. And it only needs be temporary until the virus is really under control. In a MIT article in mid-may, it stated that NPR reported 44 states and the District of Columbia now plan to bolster their contact tracing teams, collectively increasing them from about 11,000 today to more than 66,000 in the weeks ahead. And with the trends of increasing cases, I wouldn’t expect it to go away soon.

  87. Craig Says:

COVID has killed over 200.000 people in four months, the flu usually kills 80.000 a year.

When I get in my truck to go anywhere I have a mask with me. I put it on before entering any other building ans was wearing one when I took my kayak to the water because I could not see if anyone was there.

I know that I have been exposed to the virus but have not been tested. Who I was volunteering with has failed me by not making an appointment space for me.

I really don’t care what others think of masks, I know that they are not perfect, but they do slow the transmission. I will continue to wear a mask in public places until it is over.

I haven’t heard of any (American) flag waiving or bibles or crosses in ‘chaz’ but I have seen quite a few similarities to the brown shirts of the 30’s there.
    At least from reports.
I have seen communists hiding behind the flag and stealing ideas from the bible, but again, different discussion.

    Christian? Threats? Name calling?

I suppose you consider it christian to dishonor the memory of my Mother(different thread). A woman who has definitely touched more lives and also saved more lives than your feeble mind could conceive.
I suppose this would give me reason to threaten you but even if I thought I could hack JBF’s server to find you, it wouldn’t be worth my time. Without that, what would be the use of threats?
On the other hand, if you conduct your personal conversations(that means ‘in person’) in a similar fashion, your lack of civility may get you into situations that way.
Seen any strangers wearing a disguise(mask) following you lately?

    Now to name calling…

Censorship of those who do not agree with the official party line? Fascist.

Destroying monuments and book burning? Fascist.

Bully and harass, and “cancel” those who disagree with you? Fascist.

Destroy businesses and property in the name of political change? Fascist.

Beat the spit out of, and murder people in the streets who are the wrong political party or skin color? Fascist.

Only one of those quotes turned out to be truly prescient, and you were too blind to realize it before you laughed out loud at me. So I guess you are OK with the fascism when it is coming from your party.

Really St Pete? I expected better from you. You don’t believe that hot garbage that you posted do you? You believe the US has 25% of the deaths in the world. You honestly believe that there’s any remote accuracy in those numbers? Come on man. What about China’s death toll? How many is that like 4,600? The real numbers would show China had that many in the first week if this were half the “pandemic” that the media engine has pedaled. Controlling the masses. Proof positive that the government says jump and the sheeple say how high. There was a time that the media presented the public with the facts and the public formed their own opinion. That is no longer. The media says we are a country full of racists, the sheeple believe it and treat everyone as if they are racist. Media says you stay home and the economy is shut down for a stupid long period of time wrecking the country financially. Do you not think there is a lot of gain for not so well meaning individuals? Start there and step into the reality that not all people have integrity. It’s all about power.

  102. Alanbucsfan Says:

    Bush’s Coke Straw-

I understand the “divide and conquer” tactic by Marxists, but not sure how a voluntary public health guideline (mask wearing or even 6’ social distancing) applies.
I agree mask wearing is more psychological than health beneficial in the sense that people “feel” a more germ free presence when masks are visible, but since sex or race is not involved, don’t get the Marxist connection – unless you want to suggest lack of Faith is a factor in mask zealotry.

Now I would agree that wearing a mask outdoors or in your car alone is idiotic.
But since we have to go through a period of asymptomatic herd immunity, I don’t see the harm in wearing a mask briefly while in an indoors public shopping or service or entertainment (football) setting in order to protect the most vulnerable.

This fan base should be crossing your “t’s” and dotting your “i’s” when it comes to this virus. Don’t do things out of FEAR but do them out of our greatest possibility of playing in a SUPER BOWL AGAIN!!!

Treat this situation like having to cross a street. We look both ways to get to the other side safely whether cars are coming or not. Lets wear masks to keep competitive sports alive. It really not about FEAR. We are crossing the street….wear a mask!!

  105. stpetebucsfan Says:

The numbers I produced are EASY to verify. Google is your friend.

First the % of the world’s population that is American is a fact. Not an alternate fact but a real fact. So the 4.75% is the number you’ll find.

Then you simply find the numbers of deaths in the U.S. and divide it by the number of deaths worldwide and you get your %.

YES CMURDA IT IS UNBELIEVABLE!!! I AGREE. Look it up.

  106. mark2001 Says:

gp…I said nothing bad about your mother. I said I don’t care what she says. That is a completely different thing. I also don’t care what your father says, or your children. And no…I didn’t compare you to any animal. Nor did I threaten violence, in spite of what you said. Too bad you can’t understand all that… I’ll pray for you.

  107. mark2001 Says:

Lastly on this thread. It is evident that the Bucs, the players association, and most sports organizations in America believe this is real…as do most major businesses. And that following guidelines of the medical community, public health officials, and the CDC are important not only from a public health standpoint, but also from a business and economic standpoint. They don’t want an explosion of cases, shutdowns of seasons, business shutdowns, and possibly lock downs. If the hospitals no longer have places to treat patients, or HC professionals to treat patients, those things would likely happen. And we would all suffer as a result. If those things are a problem for you, I am suggesting you listen to the health professionals, and not politicians or TV personalities.

  108. Sport Says:

St Pete – it was just a few weeks ago the ‘experts’ were discussing the different ways to count Covid Deaths. The results contain inconsistencies in the US. Which could lead to many deaths contributed to Covid that perhaps should not have been.

So in your ‘google is your friend’ comments, please find me the stat that shows the difference in death numbers showing people who – ‘died With Covid vs Dying Of Covid’.

Is it possible, other countries are using a different standard of Covid death? If so, that could easily answer your question.

    Cobra,

Simple question. Why has America struggled way worse than any other nation when it comes to COVID?

Easy. Progressive politics meant to sway hearts and minds with spin.

I do not believe any numbers put out because the goalposts have constantly moved. There has been NO consistency with statistical collection or analysis.

Do I think CV19 is serious? Yes, as a really nasty flu-like bug.

Am I worried about my personal health because of CV19? No.

Is this a “pandemic”? In the sense that it is around the planet, yes, as has every flu-type virus in history.

Is the US some kind of special case? Well. it IS an election year and the left is losing their minds over Orange Man Bad, so propaganda spin is the order of the day.

Is there a “second wave?” Not among all those protesters and rioters, not that I’m am surprised.

Do I care about the Virus Karens constant drum beating? Not in the least.

Do I believe the gubmint “experts?” No, I do not, and for good reason: they have never been correct in matters like this in my lifetime. Besides, if they were that smart they wouldn’t be a gubmint drone. This includes Fauci.

Do I believe there are ulterior motives in the left wanting to continue shutdowns and hysteria? Abso-frickin’-lutely.

    ………………………

One wonders how many CV19 deaths could have been avoided had Democrat gubernators not put actively sick CV19 patients in nursing homes in complete violation of Federal guidelines. One wonder why Cuomo put multiple thousands on CV19 patients in nursing homes instead of a hospital ship sitting in NY harbor *specifically* for CCV19 patients.

IMO, these Democrat gubernators intended to kill patients for political reasons.

    ……………………

But, hey: if you want to be a hysterical Sky-is-Falling Virus Karen, be my guest.

Fact: Tony Fauci has been wrong about virtually every epidemic since he’s had that job, and he has been completely wrong about this one, too.

I met Fauci in 1991 and exchanged words with him in a board meeting when he was convinced HIV/AIDS could be transmitted by skin contact. I’m not a doctor, but not one of my 1200 HIV/AIDS patients caught that virus from a doorknob.

My favorite is how Coke Straw claims (with absolutely zero evidence). “The guy who is in line to make millions of dollars off of vaccine patents (Fauci)”.

OK, Coker, you get a pass- -no mask for you. Anyone with an imagination like you should apply for a White House job. Maybe you can organize a successful “re-re-launch) in Arizona.

  114. Rod Munch Says:

Oh God, what a useless thread…

    Some things…

If Trump wanted Fauci fired, he’d just fire him. It’s a good cop/bad cop routine, Trump gives the good news, then Fauci tells you you’re going to die. If Trump really didn’t want Fauci there, he’d just remove him. What in the world makes any thing otherwise. This isn’t just for the Fauci haters, it’s also for the morons on the left who think Trump is afraid to fire Fauci – and these same idiots then say Trump is a dictator. Get your story straight, stupid.

As for masks… It was those on the right who said we SHOULD be wearing a mask when this started, when the CDC was lying about them not working and the leftist were totally onboard with the CDC. Then as things blew up, the Dems decided that wearing masks would be their virtue signal moment, to prove they care the most, and like all idiots on the left, they went too far – demanding people literally wear a mask to take their trash to the end of their driveway (that’s a real example). That’s when people on the right then rebelled and said no, we’re not wearing your maks…

Ugh. Masks do work to some degree. No, they don’t stop all transmission – yes, they can help in some situations. Anyplace where it’s densely crowded you should wear a mask. If it’s not densely crowded, then you don’t need to worry about it. Except for one place in particular, airplanes, everyone should wear a mask, the air is being recirculated and even if it’s not packed it’s still going to spread. Movie theaters are a mixed bag, if it’s mostly empty you’re likely fine, but if it’s crowded, then yeah, you’re sitting in the same spot for a long time, that’s a lot of time for possible transmission to take place.

In any case, you’re going to get it at some point. It seems obvious the thing has mutated to some degree, which is completely natural. They almost always get more mild – and at the same time often get more infectious. That seems to be what is happening here as the death numbers are bottoming out while infections go up. So who cares – if you have a 99.94% chance of survival, well those are pretty good odds.

Now can we just play some stupid football?

“If you died of a clear alternate cause, but you had Covid at the same time, it’s still listed as a Covid death,” Dr. Ngozi Ezike, the director of Illinois’s Department of Public Health, explained to reporters.

I missed that one, but there are many examples. They become harder and harder to find, though, given MSM and Big Tech censorship.

@stpetebicsfan, bucsfanoregon & the other fearful sky-is-falling drones: Are any of you even remotely aware that 20-25% of deaths of CV19 in ‘Murica were caused by Democrat gubernators putting those with active infections in nursing homes where the most vulnerable resided…against Federal written policy and mandates?
