Will Santa Bring A Merry Christmas?

May 7th, 2020

Soft December schedule.

Joe is really liking the Bucs’ schedule in the final weeks of the 2020 season.

Assuming Tampa Bay is in a playoff race, the stretch run to end the 2020 season looks just fine.

The Bucs begin the month of December with a bye week. When oh when is the last time the Bucs had a bye week this late? Joe sure cannot remember.

A late bye week means the team will be fresher towards the end of the season. Having only four games after the bye is fantastic.

Then the Bucs host the Vikings on Dec. 13 at 1 p.m. That’s a tough game. Minnesota is damn good. Still, Joe doesn’t stare at the ceiling all night worried about Kirk Cousins.

On Dec. 20, the Bucs travel to Atlanta. Last year Dan Quinn damn near lost his job. Former Bucs coach Raheem Morris saved Quinn’s hide when, in a move of desperation, was flipped to the defensive side of the ball. Joe doesn’t think the Dixie Chicks will be much better this fall.

The date of the second-last game of the year has yet to be decided. The Bucs travel to Detroit. The Lions stink and Matt Patricia almost lost his job last year. Joe doesn’t see the Lions being much better, either. Heck, the Lions could be led by an interim coach before kickoff.

Then in early 2021, Jan. 3, the Bucs close out the regular season hosting the Dixie Chicks. (See above.)

So the Bucs start off December with a bye, play one team that should make a run for a division crown, and then play two teams (one of them twice in three weeks) who nearly fired their coaches last season.

Dang, it’s almost as if NFL strongman Roger Goodell actually wants Tom Brady to be in the playoffs. Odd, no?

Probably a payback for screwing us with the schedule the Bucs were given LAST year too.

  2. NaplesBucFan Says:

NFL owes us since last year’s schedule stunk with that long stretch of away time (including the London game). GO BUCS!

Late by week – latest I can ever remember, no cold weather games, and multiple prime time games. Thanks Tom!

    Ahhh… Rachel Watson.

The NFL hooked us up because of the Brady affect and they owed us for the screwed up schedule last season.

  8. Swampbuc Says:

If Matt Stafford was healthy all year the Lions finish no worse than 8-8 and definitely out score the Bucs.

    This is a crock.

No game is easier than the last or the next – it’s the NFL.

Yeah that week 10 bye is nice. Yeah I have a really bad memory but didn’t we have a Thursday night game right after London? This schedule looks smooth.

The bye week is number 13.
