Hey, I totally get Ira’s point about Brady scoring 30 points a game. How could Brady put up numbers like WInston or Fitzpatrick…that is just an unreasonable expectation. Maybe Brady is half as good as WInston or Fitzpatrick…15 pts seem more realistic?

If Brady puts up 4000 yards with only 6 interceptions, I will be ecstatic, what good is all those yards, with all of those turnovers?

Question for the Joe’s/commenters on Conrad Dobler…I’m about to be 55 years old. I vaguely remember Conrad Dobler getting into a fight when he played for the St. Louis Cardinals. He ripped someone’s helmet off during the fight, when he was going to the sidelines, he threw the opposing player’s helmet into the stands…Does anyone else remember this?

Steve, you forged a great podcast in a down time of the football year. You are a magician! Thanks for the great work!

Sage, Steve and Lee, I do appreciate your cautions about getting carried away by all of the hype surrounding the Bucs this year.  I do keep in mind the old saw  “That’s why they play the games!” popularized by another long time sports commentator who also is no longer “center stage”.

I for one truly believe in Bruce Arians however. Because of his presence my hopes and expectations remain sky high.

I saw some of the changes in coaching style he brought last year as almost “radical”, certainly as dramatic to say the least.  His dual track practises for example were significantly different than anything we had seen in the previous ten years from the various coaching regimes.  They may be even more significant in a year where the pandemic has caused the elimination of  much of the preparations that would have occurred.

Arians was experimenting with some new approaches and melding those with his lifetime experiences as an ascending coach las year.  His year off  for health reasons made him have to try something different for him. His appointment of Byron Leftwich as OC is an example of that.

His up to date use of sport sciences is another thing that comes to my mind.

Year two of the Arians era has started off with a bang with the advent of Tom Brady as our new “old and proven” quarterback. However, even if we had to settle for the return of Jameis Winston or have had to wait to see what Teddy Bridgewater could do for us my expectations for our franchise would have been higher this year.

I could ramble on and on but you get the idea.  In BA I trust.
