Bucs One Of Four Teams Leading Virtual Workouts

April 27th, 2020

It’s officially back to work today for the Buccaneers — with a twist.

Tampa Bay is among the 20 teams starting three consecutive weeks of virtual classroom instruction today, and the Bucs are one of four conducting virtual workouts for players, per NFL Network. Just picture Donovan Smith on a workout mat in his living room touching his toes.

Most teams are trusting players to stay fit on their own. Of the other 12 NFL teams that began last week, only the Bills, Colts and Patriots are leading virtual workouts, presumably supervised by team trainers with attendance tracked (even though participation is voluntary).

Keep in mind many players have workout bonuses tied to spring activities.

Good for the Bucs for keeping the bar as high as possible. There’s no reason not to, especially considering Bruce Arians’ giant staff and the opportunity for players to see Tom Brady busting his butt along with them.
