Simms: Bucs Or Pats For Brady

March 15th, 2020

“Jaboo, what’s it like to play for Bucco Bruce?”

It’s down to two teams.

That is what former Bucs quarterback and former Bill Belicheat assistant coach Chris Simms has Twittered. Apparently, the 49ers are not interested in the services of Tom Brady and apparently neither are the Chargers.

The Titans dropped out of the Brady sweepstakes by signing Ryan Tannehill (six months ago this would have been unthinkable).

So, is Bucco Bruce Arians going to get the quarterback he desires? Or will he have to continue groveling?

  1. Hethrew 30 Says:

I’d still rather have Teddy or Rivers, in that order, But Brady would instantly inject a champion, no nonense mentality that has lacked. Godwin and Evans would continue to be stellar, Brate would have earn his rep again with Brady, OJ would have to prove himself early (if he’s here), and those RBs better shape up. I could only imagine a guy like Love or Herbert under Brady’s tutelage…a la Garropolo. But we can’t foget about the man who brought us to this. Winston will back up Carr.

  2. james west Says:

    make it so #1 engage

  3. Bobby M. Says:

Watch for Gruden to sweep in last minute….in the same manner he lost Favre, he may get Brady leaving Bucs once again blindsided.

Other then that, Bucs have deal done. Bridgewater is back up plan.

  4. RonRicoFSU Says:

I’ll give you two words why Brady isn’t coming.

    Offensive line

  5. geno711 Says:

My sources tell me that the Tampa Bay Bucs are about to give Tom Brady a 22 year deal which will allow him to play football thru age 65. It is ideal for Tom in that as soon as he leaves football, he will be eligible for Medicare benefits.

Jason Licht and other player personnel types are a little worried about Tom’s decline in ability from years 61 to 65. This is the only thing holding up the deal at this point.

Some on the staff (Clyde Christianson?) are trying to caution BA about this approach and keep asking him what was his door 2. However, it now seems as BA’s reference to door number 2 is just that he was a “Let’s Make A Deal” fan growing up.

Remember you heard it here 1st!

  6. james west Says:

sign brady, draft eason, love, or fromme, grab the best available running back in the second round, then o-line, edge, best available then on out, i’m all in

  7. MadMax Says:

    BRADY! BRADY! BRADY! BRADY! BRADY!

  8. Bird Says:

49ers and titans were is best options in my mind

    This is crazy
    Get out yah popcorn

  9. boldnewera Says:

Getting better by the hour!! Simms and Shanahan are tight, hopefully we can bring it home!

  10. MadMax Says:

Going O line first and RB 2nd….then another O line.

    Wirfs
    Clyde
    Ezra

  11. TexBuc Says:

    Runaway Bride

  12. Ndog Says:

I wonder why all the quality organizations are not going after a 43 year old that has played in one system his entire career and for the best coach of all time and with a elite level defense and a great kicker?

Um who would have guessed that good organizations know what they are doing….

  13. JimmyJack Says:

I have come to the conclusion that I do not believe Brady will be with the Bucs.

And if that’s true the Bucs already know it.

He won’t be with the Bucs because in this offense QBs take a lot of hits. It is designed that way. I do not see Brady choosing to play in this offense. Not at his age. I don’t see it happening and this has all been a smokescreen…….possibly for both Tom and Tampa Bay.

I think we get news of a long-term Winston deal in the next few days. And I’m cool with that. Would be my choice too.

  14. MadMax Says:

ndog, are you going to support TB if he comes here?

  15. kyle Says:

dont believe the hype… brady will resign w the pats. Im hoping we make a strong run at bridgewater. i will be so disappointed if they bring winston back again, hes a frigging clown and always has been.. #GOAWAYJAMEIS

  16. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Told ya. Soon the Bucs will drop out of the running too.

But, Joe, you forgot about the Raiders.

  17. Bucemup Says:

I want Brady but it’s hard to get excited or this situation when he has to chose Pats or us. Would Brady be willing to be that cold blooded and turn his back on a organization that he went to 9 Super Bowls with for a team that hasn’t been in the playoffs since 2007? All Bill has to do is say Tommy I want you and let’s do this again and he will melt like hearing a proud dad say son I’m proud of you. We will get left at the alter just like the Farve situation back in the day. Teddy has now entered the room. My question is how after all this can you turn to Jameis and say, “ you know it was just business right”? Come on back!

  18. JimmyJack Says:

NDog……Patriots are a quality orginazation numbnuts. Reread the story and get your facts straight………I mean dang the article your posting under literally lays the facts out for you and you still get it wrong. Dang gum

  19. bojim Says:

Brady would be coool. But Jameis is the man.

  20. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Hethrew 30 Says
“I’d still rather have Teddy or Rivers…”

Teddy is a trap. That you insist on bringing him up so often tells us you don’t understand him at all.

Rivers might be the one, if not Winston. People like to say his arm is giving out, but he had one bad year. It happens. If Brady can play to 45, then Rivers can too. That gives Rivers 6 more years I think.

But even if he becomes a bridge to a draft pick, it would be a good more.

If they get rid of Winston, which I don’t see happening.

  21. JimmyJack Says:

Bonzai…..what do you mean told ya? You are already 0-1 in your predictions….hahahaha

    You hadn’t told us nothing

  22. donuts Says:

ndog dont worry pup it will all be over soon and Winston will be a backup QB or the Charger QB- which is about the same position

  23. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    JimmyJack 0-1????

Clearly you have not been paying attention. More like 0-21.

    Just kidding. I’m more like 32-10 life-long.

But hey, at least I’m right twice a day!

  24. NOLES Says:

Have a feeling it will be Teddy… not Brady. I am good w that. It would be cool to see Brady finish here just can’t see it..

  25. Curse of Gruden Says:

It doesn’t make sense to bring in a 43 year old to a new system. Yes, the Bucs would sell some merchandise, but could TB survive a season as a Buc?

  26. geno711 Says:

So if turns out to be neither the Bucs nor Patriots can we say that Chris Simm’s is just another of the many clueless national guessers.

  27. Hethrew 30 Says:

Does anyone here really think at this point the Bucs would say, “Surprise Bucs fans! We’re keeping Jameis Winston because he’s the best option!” He11 no. That would turn so man fans away. That would be mean and stupid. I could see Winston landing in Chicago. No, not with the Bears…just landing in Chicago, like on Delta!

  28. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    My predictions this year:

    • CBA would be signed within a week (WRONG) (Already ate crow. Tasted great)

    • Brady would re-sign with Patriots
    • Either Winston or Rivers would be our 2020 starting QB, most likely Winston
    • If it is Rivers, then we will draft a QB
    • Although Suh is the most expendable of the DL free agents, it would be JPP who most likely left. Suh is a great leader, but on the field we can get a run stopper.
    • I said that Winston would get what amounts to a 3 year deal unless franchised.

  29. Joe in Michigan Says:

If we sign Brady, I’m fine with it (as long as we have enough money left over to re-sign our good players). If we don’t sign Brady, I’m fine with it (less money we have to spend on the QB position).

  30. rrsrq Says:

Brady and the Bucs??? I’ll watch but…, we better win it all, I just think it will cost too much (who do we lose in order to sign him), last I checked it was the Pats defense and they were overrated that led them to the majority of their wins last year

  31. Joe in Michigan Says:

I could see Winston signing with the Chargers. Laid back LA fans wouldn’t go crazy over interceptions.

  32. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Oh, and I also predicted:

    • Brees would re-sign with the Saints a month before he did
    • The 49ers would stay with Jimmy G
    • Ryan Tanehill would remain where he is

    But, you know…I’m never right…

  33. Bucs Guy Says:

Favre 2.0. Brady was never coming to Tampa. He’s using the Bucs to get more $.

  34. Al da pewter King Says:

Wonder what Tom Brady is going to do when he goes to a team that doesn’t cheat to win #Deflategate #Spygate etc.

  35. soggy Says:

Brady probably will retire if he does not like his options

  36. JimmyJack Says:

Bonzai…….At least you can take a good natured ribbed unlike some choice posters.

But I won’t count the Bress or Jimmy G predictions. That’s weaksause. You may as well predict the sun is hot if that’s the case.

The Tannehill, Brady and Winston predicions are worthy of an “I told ya so”

But hey if we are getting credit for easy predictions I’ll start mine off by saying Shaq is Back in Tampa Bay next year and Burrow will go #1 overall in the draft.

  37. Wantstastayabiuc Says:

    Jimmyjack

    Lol
Sun will rise in the east! Was that one taken?
Good to see good behavior in here.

  38. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

Brady was NEVER going to come to Tampa…get over it !

  39. Joe in Michigan Says:

Bucs Guy: you’re probably right on this. Just like Chip Kelly, Fats Friedgen, and many other have done.

  40. Joe in Michigan Says:

    *Others

  41. TexBuc Says:

Bill Parcels twice left us at the Altar.

  42. TexBuc Says:

Bo Jackson even told us he would run and we still got shocked when Bo became a Runaway Bride.

  43. BrianBucs Says:

Personally I don’t see Brady leaving the Patriots.
HOWEVER, if he does, I hope the Glazers have their private jet fueled up and ready to head to Foxboro immediately.

  44. TexBuc Says:

I believe the Media just got confused by Tom Brady asking the Patriots to trade for one of Tampa’s TEs, and turned it into Brady interested in going to Tampa.

  45. T REX Says:

Zero chance he’s coming here. None.

  46. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

For those who think Brady doesn’t have it anymore, you’d have to go back to 2013 to find a year the Pats weren’t a top 10 passing team (they were 11th).
That’s without a ton of weapons for Brady. I think Brady would know how to utilize these guys and would have a lot of success in this offense.
    But
    He
    Is
    Not
    Coming
    Here!!!
Chip spurned is, Parcels turned his nose, Bo screwed us, Favre knew better, and many other polarizing players refused to sink with this ship.
Brady is the most decorated football player ever. Why would he hitch his legacy to a franchise where careers come to die. The dude can lose 283 straight games and still be a more winning player than our franchise has.

Call me negative or call me a Bucs fan but I just don’t see the GOAT riding in on a white horse to board a pirate ship and sail us to the playoffs, I just don’t.

  47. El Buco Realisto Says:

The “real” fans just want to see who has the better golf cart at training camp!!!!! Ole stale biscuit or old Brady?????????

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!

  48. adam from ny Says:

    if it’s coming down to 2 teams…

    the bucs and patriots…

we have a 5% chance to land TB…

    that’s being realistic…

his bond in new england will have to be really broken beyond repair, or anything that’s hit the media for him to come down to tampa…

most likely we will be used as a bargaining chip and money tool and nothing more…

    so it’s a 5% chance…

also it’s really between the bucs and pats…and a mystery team that will swoop in quietly, last minute and throw the brinks truck on his front door…

    so it’s really 3 teams…

and reality is, when you’ve been with one organization for a HOF GOAT career, you basically don’t just up and leave…

you fin out there – as it should be…brady is smart enough to understand all this and then some…

    hi jameis

  49. adam from ny Says:

our starting qb very will could be tjmaxxcon

  50. Joe in Michigan Says:

Whoever we get, I’m fine with it. I watched highlights of Philip Rivers, I know anyone will look good in their highlights, but I saw what I needed to see to be okay with the Bucs signing him. If we did sign Rivers, I’d like for us to go OL in the 1st Round, and look for a QB in another round.

  51. Joe in Michigan Says:

Can you imagine tjmaxxcon screaming at poor Demar Dotson in the huddle?! Hahaha

  52. adam from ny Says:

you have to throw TB 3 years 100 mill all guaranteed…

if he takes the bait we got him…

but you gotta put that sick azz bait out there for ole tommy…

    #YesEyeSaid100MillionAllGuaranteed #JustDoIt

    #LetHimHaveHisWayWithAllTheCheerleadersToo

  53. RustyRhinos Says:

Not a fan of bringing in a 42 soon to be 43 year old QB. GOAT or not, father time never loses his game.
Does anyone else have the thoughts that Winston would have any reason to “help train” a new QB? This is the same Winston who could not have any competition as our starting QB last season, because they didn’t want him looking over his shoulder right?

    Go Bucs!

  54. Barber20 Says:

I think landing Brady would be a huge mistake! 43 years old in this Florida heat can’t be good. I dont think the bucs will land Tom Brady the player, only his name. Stick with Jameis on a 1 year prove it deal. His numbers are comparable to all other QB’s in this system year 1. One more year! Our history with players like this says that he will be MVP, or superbowl champ after he leaves us. Be patient Tampa give this one more year.

  55. Jameis #1 Fan Says:

    Welcome Back Jameis!

  56. Jameis #1 Fan Says:

Real organizations not hanging their future on 43 year old TB. We saw what he looked like last year…check ya sheet!

  57. Defense Rules Says:

Bucs were always a pawn in this chess match.

  58. DalvinCookRules Says:

The only truly great thing about the Bucs getting Brady is that Jameis will get to learn a lot from the backup QB.

  59. SteveK Says:

We are going to do what’s best. Jameis will walk because you can’t win with all those turnovers.

  60. El Buco Realisto Says:

    @jameis #1 fan

So what!!!!!! The bucs already brought in an old coach in ole stale biscuit, who’d last year was a disaster in ARIZONA and sat out a year from the league!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  61. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

TB will be our QB but his name isn’t Tom

  62. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

Brady would sell tickets but I truly do not think that would equal wins. Bridgewater is exactly what our team needs. He will be smart with the ball and not cost us games. Check downs and short passes are todays NFL. Pray Jedrick Wills is there at 14 and take Clyde or Dobbins in the 2nd. Use our 3rd and our comp pick to get back into the 2nd for Kyle Dugger. Resign our main defensive guys and we are setup to make a push in the playoffs.

Shameis doesnt provide us that chance because he puts us in too many holes and then puts up a bunch of yards playing catchup. Who tf cares about yards if we dont win. Teddy is a game manager and i would put my faith in him 10 times out of 10 over Shameis. The best teams win the turnover battle and that will never happen with weak minded Shameis. To believe otherwise is just silly

  63. nano107 Says:

Don’t take a player Belichick let’s walk away

  64. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @JimmyJack

Those were considered easy predictions a week or two ago. I made them months ago. Not so easy then.

  65. 813bucboi Says:

    Teddy

    GO BUCS

  66. catcard202 Says:

The Bucs signing TB12 = to Johnny Unitas as a Charger.
A marketing scheme signing, not a winning football move.

  67. Rod Munch Says:

Anyone wanting Teddy is a literal tard.

    Literal.

  68. Bucslifer58 Says:

If Brady comes to the Bucs it will be a cautionary tale of a 42 year old QB trying to extend his playing days with an aging body and mediocre o line. And no running game to boot.
He won’t last past the eighth game of the season.
Jameis is and should still be the guy in Tampa.
Instead of loading tons of money into a wheel Barrow to get Brady, find some o linemen that can block in the running game and a qualified back. That fixes Jamejs.

  69. WestChap Says:

Brady is not grabbing for cash. He knows he could get Tony Romo money on TV for a decade if he wants. The rift with Bill is real. I think its Bucs or retirement… and I don’t think he’s quite ready for retirement just yet.

How can any football fan who saw the magic of Brady playing with Randy Moss and Wes Welker not want to see him give it a go with Evans and Godwin… and Brate and OJ… and maybe even Perriman? This needs to happen!

  70. Mayhem41 Says:

Anyone wanting Teddy is a literal tard. -Rod Munch

    I agree with this observation.
