Report: Cam Newton On The Move

March 17th, 2020

Nine years of Cam Newton in the NFC South, often terrorizing the Buccaneers, seems like it’s nearing an end.

The free agency frenzy is in full swing and it kicked up a notch with the trade-coming Tweet below from ESPN insider Adam Schefter.

Newton has one year remaining on his contract and it seems he and the Panthers are working out parameters of where Newton would agree to play so the team can relay that information to a trade suitor.

Joe’s not sure where Newton might go. Washington? But Joe does know that would open a QB hole for the Panthers, who might turn their attention to the guy the Bucs free agent Tampa Bay doesn’t want to start for them at quarterback.

    Newton to the pats

  2. BrianBucs Says:

Didn’t Winston throw 5 interceptions against the Panthers last year?
Yep, I’m sure that made them want him, lol

  3. Couch Fan Says:

Jameis to the Panthers would be highly interesting. Would make our rivalry turn up a notch or 2.

  4. Marine Buc Says:

The past few seasons Cam Newton has been known for his goofy outfits and hair more than the quality of his play. I hope he goes to Chicago. The fans will love him there. Lol.

  5. Mister Negative Nancy Says:

I love this time of year

  6. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Probably the craziest free agency in terms of QBs on the move……

  7. Tye Says:

    Patriots – Tom Brady
    Chargers – Philip Rivers
    Panthers – Cam Newton

and others still to be decided.. 2020 season is certainly a shifting in a new decade..

  8. Jon Says:

Brady is either here or la….we need to seal it now or we will be sitting without a qb

  9. tvan1 Says:

I have never seen a writer want one player so bad where his bias for winston shows in literally every article he writes. Sad that a Joe on a buccaneer website is practically rooting for 1 interception prone QB over his entire team and the website that he makes a living with.

So Vegas signed Marcus instead of Jameis? How could that be… Gruden loves Jameis. Lovers thought Jon wet his pants when he heard Jameis was a FA. I guess not. Sounds like Jon was just blowing smoke up Jameis’s backside…and many lovers bought every word of it. I guess it just wasn’t true.

  11. mark2001 Says:

Tye…newsflash…Tom has emphatically said he won’t return to NE. So you might want to rethink your prognostications.

  12. Go Bucs 72 Says:

Sham Newton is a pansy that didn’t even try to jump on his own fumble in the Super Bowl. He’s beat up and his act is tired. I don’t think anyone will be tripping over themselves to trade for him. He’ll get cut before that happens.

  13. The Coroner Says:

Newton was a big fast running back who could occasionally throw the football. Overrated.

  14. passthebuc Says:

I do not know what is crazier, the Covid-19 virus speculation or the JW drama. Maybe the JW hype could become a TV drama. I have the perfect name. “as your stomach turns”

  15. Jean Lafitte Says:

So if we don’t land Brady, there’s still Dalton, Bridgewater, Newton and last resort Winston if he’ll come down on his price.

  16. Mitch Says:

Carolina is going after Teddy! We might be Brady or bust this year.

  17. Bucsdelight Says:

    Newton to visit with Pats.

  18. MarineBucsFan Says:

    Looking like Bridgewater to Panthers.

  19. MarineBucsFan Says:

At Mitch, I agree Brady or bust. Unless we trade for a QB because the field not looking good past Brady.

  20. miken Says:

Panthers and falcons will be down this year… its the bucs time!

  21. #1 Pick QB 2 Cent Brain Says:

No one is looking at Jameis other than Ndog and Clueless Joe

  22. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

One more FA QB ahead of Jameis in the check out line…

  23. ncbucsfan Says:

If Cam is traded it will be to the AFC more than likely so…..Dolphins, Chargers, maybe Jags, seem like the only destinations there. In the NFC, I could only see the Bears as the only real option.

  24. Bucsdelight Says:

Brady is past his prime. We don’t need a one year QB. Please for the love of football, no Brady.

  25. Bucsdelight Says:

A few Mock Drafts have us taking Jordan Love in the 1st :(.

  26. Bird Says:

    Brianbucs

    Quote of the year

  27. Bird Says:

Chargers after Newton And they will draft one too

  28. Couch Fan Says:

    Bucsdelight,

I agree. Jordan Love in the 1st is very similiar to us taking FreeWee in the 1st. I didnt like it then and I wont like it now.

  29. Tye Says:

    @mark2001

that is team MINUS their usual starters..
you just misunderstood it.. it happens!

  30. tickrdr Says:

Bridgewater to the Panthers just sent by Ian Rapoport.

    tickrdr

  31. Bucsdelight Says:

For around $20m a year. Teddy to Panthers.

  32. Bucsdelight Says:

Also, Brees signed 2 yr deal around $50m. So those thinking Jameis is getting $30m a year. Get out of here. He ain’t worth that.

  33. WestChap Says:

Any way we can offer to pay the Panthers to start Jameis?

  34. WestChap Says:

At $20M per year, I will be sad not to have Teddy… and really sad to see him partnered with CMC and Hump. I was hoping for another year of Cam misery as Panthers tanked for Lawrence.

But if we get Brady I’ll manage. 🙂
