NFL Network: Rivers = Playoffs

March 17th, 2020

Philip Rivers fan.

If NFL quarterback Philip Rivers, old man that he is in NFL years, had been on the Bucs last season even though Rivers appeared to be on the doorstep of retirement, the Bucs would have been a playoff team.

That’s the analysis from spreadsheeter Cynthia Frelund of NFL Network. And that’s why Frelund believes Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht should throw s cold water on Bucco Bruce Arians and get him to wise up and agree to have the Bucs sign Rivers.

In the video presenation below, Frelund thinks Rivers would have given the Bucs 3.6 more wins. Joe rounded that off to four.

The Bucs finished 7-9. Four wins would have given the Bucs 11 wins. That would have been enough to bounce the Vikings (10-6) out of the playoffs last season.

You can watch Frelund’s takes below.

Gm nut huggers Mariota gets signed before Winston lol 😂

  2. Bucsfan0784 Says:

Mariota also sighed before brees, Brady, Bridgewater, and rivers. None of the qb’s that are looking for starting jobs have signed yet

  3. Tval Says:

Because mariota will play for free. Lmao!!!!
Dummies cant help themselves. dont worry the season will be cancelled anyway and bruce will be lucky to survive. The president just made it IMPOSSIBLE for the nfl to do business until August. AT BEST!! Give brady a HUGE bonus and he never plays a down. The BUC WAY!! Hahahahahaaaaaa!!!!

  4. Tval Says:

If my child cant go to school until next fall the NFL is DONE.
NOW does it make sense? Football has become irrelevant. Only cte sufferers and jock sniffers care about free agency when a season will be cancelled.

  5. Buc_You-2 Says:

Winsnone will get the next backup job.

  6. Buczilla Says:

She’s cute and smart, but I respectfully disagree. Rivers would have done just as well as Jameis or maybe even worse last season. Now if we are talking Brady, I have no doubt we would have had at least 4 more wins, if not more if (huge if) he played all 16 games.

  7. Leighroy Says:

I for one can’t wait to see the Bucs “upgrade” from a QB who throws 30 INTs a year to one who throws 20.

What big games has Rivers proven he can win in his illustrious career?

  8. Bird Says:

I bet she shags like a mynx

Dont discredit Freelund. She knows her stuff.
Approaches everything thru statistics / numbers/ simulations
You should go to for draft kings etc for her knowledge

I remember one year …she had almost a perfect NCAA march madness bracket after the 1st 2 days. Missed on only one game if i remember

  9. OneBuc55 Says:

I know everyone hates Jameis these days but he was pressured and sacked pretty much more than any QB…

Phillip wouldn’t have done much better; he’s a pocket statue/sack magnet…can he kick field goals? There’s your 3 extra wins right there

  10. Ineffable Dullard Repairman Says:

    Does Rivers kick field goals?
If so, that’s two wins right there. If not, please list the 3.6 wins––especially the 6/10th of a win. I once had 60% of a dog. He didn’t run very well …

  11. Jameis #1 Fan Says:

Can Rivers play Saftey? Then get the f outta here with that..

  12. passthebuc Says:

build through the draft and fill in with FA and trades. And fill in does not mean primary pieces. you build from the top down. Top management, coaches, trainers then players. We have had an organization that uses the approach of let’s try this and see if it works. It didn’t, it doesn’t and the proof is in our results. You start your picks with the trenches and fill from there on both sides.

  13. Anonymous Says:

Is QB/K a new position? What a great fantasy pick that would be!

  14. D-Rome Says:

I am not surprised that Jay-Miss’ name isn’t linked to one team out there apart from the Bucs. It’s laughable the apologists are out there with the excuse making.

  15. PragueBucsFan Says:

Call me crazy but I take Jameis over Rivers at this point.

  16. Bucsfanman Says:

Leighroy- Far more than any QB wearing a Bucs uniform in this decade! That’s for sure.
Rivers may not be the answer. I assure you though, his accomplishments far outweigh that of Winston.

  17. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If no teams are calling Jameis…..or there are only calls for lower salary backup positions…..his price to stay with the Bucs will certainly come down….

  18. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Winston was pressured because he holds on to the ball TOO LONG….still doesn’t know HOW to throw the ball away, can’t READ defenses.

  19. Gofortheface30 Says:

Lol yeah ok Buczilla. Would you “respectfully disagree” if she wasn’t hot AF? No, if it was a dude you’d call him a retard pudding head or something. Guys are simps, sex sells. Always. You should see Joy Taylor and charissa Thompson’s Instagram page. So hot most men would cheat on their wives if given the chance, but what’s hilarious is these broads are still resorting to posting risqué shots of themselves 80 percent of the time, selling their looks to promote their brand. They wanna be “respected journalists” though. But then you got the hypocrite libs screaming tOxIc MaSuLiNiTy or white privilege (or something) whenever you call that out. Yeah so anyway saying Rivers would equal 3.6 more wins or some stupid crap when he threw 20 interceptions himself is galaxy brained and dumb. Have a great day

  20. Jonzey Says:

We need to sign Winston please

  21. Dave Says:

you people need a life, posting on here non stop it pathetic and sad

  22. Allbuccedup Says:

Smith is the only offensive tackle on the team. Whos going to come here. Arians said he was getting his tackles from the xfl. Enough said.

  23. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

Although I’m still trying to “process” the very strange year the Bucs had in 2019…the good, bad and the ugly…it’s a bit of a stretch to say the Bucs would have won 3-4 more with Rivers. Maybe the Chargers would have won 3-4 more with Winston? What did the Chargers win with Rivers…a whopping 5 games.

Going for the face…I see you going your own way. And I approve…

  24. Buc50 Says:

Mariota is not better than Jameis. His biggest attribute is his mobility and once that’s gone, he’s done.

  25. Jonzey Says:

Dave you are a loser you need a life jerk

  26. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

    Mariota has a job…..LOL…..

  27. rrsrq Says:

Note: none of the starting QBs have announced, with exception of Tannehill, likely waiting on Brady which is probably what the league wants to keep those eyeballs on the league. Some deals are probably already done, but they want us to keep watching and the shows to keep talking, because once these QBs sign, it’s hush season until the draft.

  28. YucLife Says:

I will say this again, but disappointed the Bucs didn’t add a top CB, Safety, or DT yesterday with all this supposed money they have to spend. Today they better show me and others that they are going to find replacements for Suh and others. Yes a QB would be nice and hope this saga doesn’t drag on because tired of hearing about it !! It’s win now and BA and this putrid organization need to show this fan base something. Like I said yesterday Conklin would have been great and they whiffed? Our O line isn’t very good and struggle to protect and open lanes, so they need to address it fast or it’s going to be another disappointing year !! I’m hoping for the best, but the other teams that start with Bs made big time moves yesterday and we tagged Shaq and signed JPP. I just want to see this franchise win because 4 stadium club seats isn’t cheap!!! Please do something!!!
    Sincerely
    Season ticket holder since 2000

  29. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I will take Jameis over Rivers at this point.

  30. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Gofortheface30 though I agree with the 20 interception remark Why don’t you leave you political and sexist views off a football forum……they don’t belong

  31. 813bucboi Says:

    JW is a bust!!!….lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  32. Stanglassman Says:

Onebuc55- Jameis still has a majority support among but fans. It’s just doesn’t seem like it on JBF commit board because the anti Jameis crowd need lots of attention and love to repeat themselves.

  33. Buczilla Says:

    @Gofortheface30

Guilty as charged. What can I say? I’m a sucker for a cute face. Besides, I think that the only person that I have said mean things about on this site is Peter King because he deserv.. Nevermind, there’s enough going on in the world, that making fun of Peter King isn’t even worth it.

  34. WestChap Says:

She’s probably right just given the 10 fewer picks but Rivers still looked like an older and somewhat wiser version of Jameis last year.

If we’re going to put the franchise and fanbase through a QB change let’s target Brady (LA is only flight away, Giselle looks great in red) and if that doesn’t work Bridgewater or Dalton. Of course, none of these 3 “fit” the deep vertical Arians offense but he and Leftwich will tweak as necessary. Just don’t pay whoever the QB is so much that you have to hollow out the roster to afford him.
