Tom Brady Announces He’s Leaving Patriots

March 17th, 2020

“Jason, hide that jacket.”

It’s official.

The Tom Brady era has ended in New England and will continue elsewhere in the NFL.

Brady took to social media moments ago.

Where he stops, nobody knows. But the odds just improved that he’ll be wearing pewter and red, and carrying the hopes and dreams of Buccaneers fans on his 43-year-old back when the NFL season kicks off in September (assuming it kicks off in September).

Chargers, Bucs, Raiders, a mystery team, what is Brady really considering?

What great theater it would be if Bill Belicheat starts talking to America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston. Belicheat has long been a big fan of Bucs rejects: Aqib Talib, LeGarrette Blount, Darrelle Revis and more.

  1. Buc50 Says:

I have a sinking feeling that he’s going to the Chargers.

  2. Bucs Fan Since ‘76 Says:

Here or Chargers??? I think our WR’s and TE’s are stroking out.

  3. YucLife Says:

Buc50 totally agree !!!! I just hope it happens soon, so we can find a new QB

  4. Imon Says:

He is coming her because he is an egomaniac and after decades of being a BelePuppet he wants to call his own shots.

  5. geno711 Says:

He does say in the post he is a California kid?

  6. lowercaseg Says:

    Sign tommy

  7. Bucsfan951 Says:

If I was a betting man, I would say he’s going to the chargers. I’m hoping he goes to Vegas and then the Bucs can swing a deal for Carr.

  8. Imon Says:

And that was a typo: coming HERE, not coming her, which could be interpreted as referring to Gisele! 🙂

  9. IMissLovie Says:

He’s going to California like he said in his post.

  10. Bobby M. Says:

All the other QB dominoes will fall after Brady….and trust me we are very attractive. There is no better set of options, our WR/TEs….we have draft capital to improve o-line and RB. Defense is mostly back, Suh might be one piece we let walk although I think we get him at a discount if Brady or Rivers come here.

  11. Umm Says:

43… let that sink in. The Bucs may give up on a more productive 26 year old for a one year rental… such a Bucs move

  12. JameisWin55 Says:

I think we definitely have a good chance but people are sleep on the Chargers it’s LA, Ekler at RB is the perfect back for him, Mike Williams, Kennan Allen, Hunter Henry just acquired Trai Turner at G and a top 6 pick to draft more O-Line help with a defense of Ingram and Bosa they are definitely in the mix I feel we should gauge Jameis Winston interest in backing up Tom for a year or two instead of drafting a QB Winston will only be 28 in 2 years and would have learned under the goat himself

  13. wantstastayabuc Says:

Wohooo! Jameis will be Sittin’….Just check his seat!

  14. Imon Says:

IMissLovie: Where does it say he is going to CA? You gotta lay off that wacky tobacky dude… 🙂

  15. SteveK Says:

Reasons for Brady to come to Tampa:

    The QB Whisperer
NFC- No Pats, Mahomes or Lamar to go through
    Mike Evans and Chris Godwin
    Offensive autonomy: playbook/personnel
A chance to further build your resume away from Bill
A chance to mop up the NFC S
Joining with an up and coming Defense
Join a team that hasn’t been to playoffs in 12 years, not winning a playoff game in 18.

Let’s go bucs. Get Brady here yesterday.

This would be a winning maneuver that both sides stand a lot to offer one another.

Brady is the 🐐 and would
Look great in our new uniforms.

  16. Imon Says:

TB is coming to TB because it’s the only place that is offering him front office as well as QB1. It’s obvious. Chargers aint gonna do that and you can bet Chucky and Mayock aren’t giving up an inch of control.

  17. Jason Says:

We all know what’s going to happen. Brady signs here, then they cancel the season and he never actually plays a game for the Bucs. Because its a bucslife.

  18. Mike Says:

43 yrs old. Brady will play 3 games behind the Bucs OL and will be injured. Brady will wish he was back in NE

  19. Imon Says:

Cancellation of the season is a very high probability right now, I do agree with you, Jason.

  20. 813bucboi Says:

so brady, teddy and carr are all still on the table….

    great….we’ll have our QB tomorrow….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  21. Sport Says:

Dude sold and moved out of his house, his support team did the same, set up a new business across country, sent a farewell pic months ago, his wife said she wants to live somewhere nice and some of you thought that was NE. You can’t be helped, maybe this reality check will wake you up.

    Finish signing the defense
    RT
    RB
Adding a safety would be solid
    The rest goes to QB.

If we do get Brady, I hope the affect of playing with the GOAT brings some discounts.

    In BA I Trust!

  22. ChanEpic Says:

Playing/winning a home Super Bowl game is the only challenge that (should) matter to Brady. He’s done everything else right?

  23. Tye Says:

I also think he wants to return to the West coast…
Go back home, play in front of his family, work on 199 productions!

  24. doctor_berto Says:

It seems like he will be going to the Chargers as he mentions California in his post.

  25. Ndog Says:

What kind of player leaves a team where has won more than anyone ever and sites wanting to have more fun?

Just think about that for a minute.

  26. Tval Says:

Ne, indy, chi, tb, and SD ALL, still, would be INSANE not to talk to Jameis. Some of you sound remedial…at BEST! Lol!!! Bill will DEF go after Jameis if Brady walks. That would be AWESOME!!!

  27. Imon Says:

Ndog, he wants to be FRONT OFFICE. Keep saying that as your new mantra and it will finally sink in.

  28. Jameis #1 Fan Says:

    Don’t cry later…

  29. tmaxcon Says:

    Joe

If bill grabs jameis You do know and accept the fact it will jameis and belicheat hoisting the Lombardi in Tampa not BA and gabbert….

  30. Imon Says:

Tval: IMHO Jameis goes the same place Brent Grimes went… into limbo.

  31. diggler Says:

He’s going back home, he’s a Cali kid.

  32. 813bucboi Says:

    ndog

a player that wants to continue to prove he’s the GOAT!!!!!!

winning in tampa would be fun right?…lol…

    brady wants a new challenge….bucs want a new QB….fans want to win….

JW just wants his phone to ring….lol….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  33. Lunchbox Says:

I want Brady to come to the Bucs, but if he chooses another team, I’d prefer Derek Carr if we could swing a reasonable trade for him. Then Bridgewater, if he hasn’t already done a deal with Chicago

  34. zwak Says:

He just opened a Production company in LA, do the math?

  35. Alanbucsfan Says:

    Steve K-
You left out Chargers are likely losing Gordon and California taxes are very high

  36. Troy Says:

Just think what TB could teach a QB that we draft like Nate Stanley about preparation and playing the position.

  37. Pa Privateer Says:

I don’t see Brady coming here. He will go closer to his business like San Diego or Las Vegas.

  38. Hamsadwitchtime Says:

Jameis to patriots. So Hard to be a Bucs fan

  39. Bucsfan951 Says:

Despite what some might think, the glazers boys have done a ton to help Winston out during his career. Hear me out… do you think they would sign Brady AND Winston so Winston can sit behind the goat and learn from him? I understand that’s a lot of money to spend but perhaps it could be possible? Is it so far fetched that I am turning into NDOG? Do I need to see a doctor? Do I need to put twitter away for a couple of days? Why are my shoes on the wrong foot? Why are you still reading this? I need a nap already!

  40. D-Rome Says:

    Where is Buccaneer Bonzai?

I’ve been preparing a crow sandwiches for him to consume during the coronavirus shutdown.

  41. Ndog Says:

813 it’s not “fun” getting your brains beat in as Donovan Smith blows another block on Cameron Jordan or driving your team to win the game only to have your kicker blow it or to get a nice lead and watch your defense blow it yet again. We know this better than anyone, that’s not “fun”.

  42. ChanEpic Says:

BucsFan951 – the idea is sound, the #s just wouldn’t work at all. It’s that simple, you’re talking about a Madden football roster.

  43. Ndog Says:

951 no way my friend Jameis will never come back here to be a backup. It’s either his team or its not with this franchise.

  44. BUC CHEEKS Says:

I feel like we’re about to get left at the alter.

  45. gofortheface30 Says:

Look at all this negativity on here. Ive never seen a bigger group of twats. Seriously, you guys are some real twats. The bucs have been bad for 20 gd years, but yeah lets keep rebuilding. Lets keep Jameis so he can throw 40 interceptions this time. So weird, this fanbase is bizarre

  46. geno711 Says:

One thing you know, if Brady has been considering the Buc’s – he has talked with Peyton Manning about Bruce Arians.

  47. Steve Says:

Belicheck wouldn’t have the patience with Winlesston and his 40 interceptions last year

  48. TOM Says:

Brady or Carr. The thing I worry about with Brady is the money & his age.

  49. Jeffbuc Says:

I just like the id of Brady for all the publicity and prime time games the bucs will get. And no matter what ndog/jameis says we instantly become a better team with him at qb. To say that we wouldn’t be better with a 6 super bowl winning qb. League and super bowl mvp. Over a turnover machine who isn’t even voted a team captain.

  50. Tye Says:

Until you actually see the reports of JW signed by the Patriots, I wouldn’t get on it…
Highly doubt Belicheck would risk sullying his reputation and career in his final years with the one known around the league as the Turnover Machine…
He has seen this past season how JW plays under would one the NFL respected coaches and a numbers of QB coaches, a team of them working with the guy, and the product on the field was the same…

Who the Patriots start at QB is a mystery, but JW would likely be way down on their list like he is on BAs lost!…

  51. Tbbucs3 Says:

At this point….Anybody but Bridewater for QB.

If the Bucs are truly going in for Tom Brady, there thought process should be

    1. Tom Brady
    2. Jameis Winston
    3. Andy Dalton

    Simple as that.

  52. Youngbucs Says:

Ndog it’s not fun watching a QB wet the bed for 5 years

  53. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Ndog…….. a sad and silly little b!tch.

  54. Alanbucsfan Says:

    Ndog-
Maybe it’s not “fair” what happened to Jameis’ career with Bucs, but life isn’t fair. Your points have some validity, but it doesn’t change the reality that Bucs will have a new QB and it’s looking like Brady for 2 years.
So, your passion for Jameis is recognized, but it’s time for acceptance…

  55. #1 Pick QB 2 Cent Brain Says:

    He’s going to the Chargers

I’m from Tampa and even I didn’t wanna live there. It sucks

  56. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

    Jameis to Buffalo

  57. 813bucboi Says:

    ndog

the thing that JW doesnt have that brady has is the ability to make his teammates raise their game…..

nate solder was great while protecting brady….left, got paid with the giants and now they’re having buyers remorse…..

trent brown signed a huge contract with the raiders after beating the rams in the SB…..raiders tried him at LT where he protected brady and it didnt work…they put him at RT…..now they’re looking to draft a RT…lol….

the list goes on and on…..lol…

brady comes here, players will raise their game, and finally be able to have fun because they’re winning….

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  58. SteveK Says:

No shame in not getting the Goat to Tampa. It would be a dream
Scenario, and if his decision is solely based off football and not his outside interests, we stand the best shot.

If we don’t get Brady, let’s go see what Teddy and Rivers are doing.

Bottom line, I wanted Jameis to work out, but he’s not as good as the other available QBs this year bc his turnovers and repeat delusional mistakes.

  59. Tbbucs3 Says:

“Look at all this negativity on here.”

If your a known Jameis haters, your not allowed to complain about negativity because you guys have plauged this site with negativity for years.

  60. Hamsadwitchtime Says:

Goforthefac30 not much to be excited about… Jameis will go to pats where Bill will turn him around, Brady to Chargers and we get bridgwater or Dalton.. lmfao. What a joke!

  61. #1 Pick QB 2 Cent Brain Says:

Still waiting to hear of a offer to Jameis…

  62. NPRSageBoy. Says:

I sure hope Bucs have a functional Plan B if Brady goes elsewhere

To say they went all in on Brady and failed.and ended up with JayMiss would be the ultimate insult to Buc fans everywhere

    Peace, out

  63. SteveK Says:

    813,

Couldn’t agree more. Brady brings leadership, motivation, street cred, and a skill set that had a 3:1 TD:INT Ratio last year. James was 1:1.

  64. Tbbucs3 Says:

Jameis > Teddy and Rivers not even close.

I’ll take Brady but Jameis should absolutely be our #2 option.

  65. Bucsfan951 Says:

813: it could be Brady who up’d the o line play but if I was the Bucs, I would pay what ever I can to try and pry away the patriots o line coach to come to TB. Dude has been a stud for years! Lol

  66. Bucsfan951 Says:

Chanepic: for sure it wouldn’t work out. And for the record, I’ve never once played a madden game. Sorry but even being associated with that game pisses me off haha 😂😂😂

  67. J Says:

Chargers would have to drop too many good core players to acquire Brady so why would Brady want to go to a talent depleted team and pay all those taxes and possibly lose upwards of 3 million? I’m beating on Tampa on this one.

  68. SteveK Says:

I’d take Rivers or Bridgewater before Jameis. Jameis just turns it over too much to ever win with consistently.

  69. Waterboy Says:

Let’s see… the Pats didn’t want to pay the GOAT market value at QB but you’re thinking they’re going to meet Jameis’ 30 mil demand??

  70. Sharthappens Says:

Brady’s camp is simply using the Bucs for leverage against the Chargers. He does not want to come to Tampa and get beat up with Arians “let the QB get hit” approach.

  71. Buc4evr Says:

I will believe it when I see it. Otherwise I’m thinking he wants to go home to California. Jameis could be back in 2020… LOL.

  72. Reedo Says:

How cool is it that Brady leaves the Patriots on St. Patrick’s Day. All the bars are closed in Boston and there’s no parade. Shadenfreude!

  73. Gettinthebucs Says:

I bet the bucs are being used for leverage. Brady doesn’t need great weapons. Chargers are by far the superior team in a superior city. Despite all of the reports it just seems so farfetched he would come here.

  74. SteveK Says:

If Brady wants to pass Jordan and get a 7th title, more than expanding his brand, then he will sign with Tampa and go for it all in 2020.

If we get Brady, just watch us wheel and deal to make us a more complete roster.

I’d offer Brady the job with whatever he wants as well as a Segway into the front office. He can be our Ozzie Newsome.

  75. 813bucboi Says:

    951

    i agree….

but bill probably has him locked up nice and tight…..lol…

he’s the best in the buz but goodwin made improvements along the line….cappa played great….jensen played better….marpet was solid….d.smith had his best year imo….

i think brady would mask some of the flaws along the line where JW only exposed them….o-line aint the best but it aint the worst….

    GO BUCS!!!!

  76. ncbucsfan Says:

Idk why everyone is sleeping on the Dolphins!! I think the Bruce flattered Tom, but Miami and LA may be preferred destinations. I want Tom here honestly but you know….its a Buc life!

  77. ChanEpic Says:

@GettingtheBucs – Chargers a far superior team? I don’t know about that. Better QB, last year? Maybe, but team? It’s closer than you think.

  78. 813bucboi Says:

    stevek

    i agree…

hosting and winning a SB in tampa equals 3 in NE!!!!….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  79. Tbbucs3 Says:

Teddy and Rivers aren’t good enough to win.

Again, Bucs fans thinking that all you need to do to win in the NFL is just not turn the ball over.

Jameis is better than them in every single area of quarterbacking execpt turnovers.

  80. Ndog Says:

I love the people saying let’s just accept it. Accept what? Nothing has happened yet accept that we have let a 26 year old 5,000 yard #2 scoring offense in the NFL QB test the market.

This franchise I just don’t know man.

  81. 813bucboi Says:

Jameis is better than them in every single area of quarterbacking except turnovers.

    thats the point….lol….

winning the turnover battle is the key to winning the game…..

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  82. SteveK Says:

    Ndog,

Jameis turns it over more than anybody since 2015. There’s your answer. The two closest QBs in turnover quantity are: Eli and Bortles. One was taken to pasture and the other is a backup for Jared Goff.

I see Jameis being a backup bc his good numbers are outweighed by more turnovers than touchdowns. The defense was screwed by his act, and it cost us an average of 7.5ppg. So before you go on about yards and scoring D, look at net scoring and take a gander at the field position sacrificed by Jameis and his poor execution/decision making/turnovers.

  83. 813bucboi Says:

    ndog

you keep posting about 5k yards….lol….

how many times has JW thrown for 5k yards in his career?….

again, JW has been in the top5 for throwing INTs every year he’s played 16games…..

we let the QB that threw 30INTs out the door because we know JW will never throw for 5k yards ever again in his life…..

    JW IS A BUST!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  84. BrianBucs Says:

    Sign Brady ASAP!!!
Time for something good and exciting to happen here.

  85. Tbbucs3 Says:

    813

I can name plenty of QBs who are good at not throwing interceptions but actually suck. Bucs fans are so spolied that they take 25+ points a game for granted but don’t relieze but QBs struggle to to put points on the board.

Teddy historically does not score a lot of points, if you think that’s gonna win us football games your dead wrong.

  86. wantstastayabuc Says:

This feels like Toby’s last day of work at the Office.

  87. Stevebobucsfan Says:

I am not real excited at this time with my Bucs but,I am a little nervous with what’s going on though. If Brady comes in I am hearing that he may want to call his own plays and run things his way. Don’t know if this is true or not but I am hoping that if any of this is true that it don’t turn the Bucs upside down. Also I am hoping that Arians is not getting desperate to win being that he is 67 and probably want coach no more than 2 or 3 more years and don’t want leave as a losing coach

  88. Bucsfan951 Says:

    NDOG

Dude, most get where you’re coming from. But let’s be honest here, it’s not like someone is banging down JW’S door right now. If a young Brady, Big Ben, Wilson, or Rodgers made it to free agency, there would be multiple brinks trucks waiting at their gates.

Face it dude, while Winston was the qb for the second ranked offense, it’s buyer beware with him. If it wasn’t, teams would be lining up for his services. Colts, chargers, raiders, Chicago, our own Bucs!

Again, I respect your dedication to him and to this team. Believe it or not, I just want the Bucs to win! I don’t care who’s qb. I don’t care if it’s you back there, NDOG!

  89. Ndog Says:

One thing that I think about that it seems no one else thinks about is the way winning a championship (not that I think we will) feels. Winning with Brooks, Sapp, Lynch, Ronde, Alstott those were our guys, Tampa guys. If we were somehow to win with Brady we would be winning with the Patriots QB. So even in the best case scenario it would not be nearing as exciting or as fulfilling as winning with our players. This would feel like the Yankees or RedSox with no pride or ownership in actually winning. Not that I wouldn’t be happy but it’s like having a girlfriend that just went to you cause her ex just wanted someone else and she needed to move on but she really always loved her ex more.

Brady will never be a Buccaneer and he said as much in his post as he stated he will always be a Patriot.

Just like Sapp will always be a Buccaneer, Montana will always be a 49er, Lynch will always be a Buccaneer and Emmitt Smith will always be a Cowboy.

  90. blocked Says:

looks like I was blocked for heckling america’s joebucsfan. cant even get a simple post on here now

  91. a-bomb Says:

Posters on her are Delusional. If we have learned nothing in the last 20 years it is that if Belichick doesn’t want you then there is a reason. Why do you trust to get this right Belichick or Licht? I agree that Brady’s people are using Bucs to get a better deal from Chargers.

  92. PuertoRicanBucFan Says:

Lmao Brady isnt going to the Chargers and their 31st ranked Oline lmao

  93. SteveK Says:

    Ndog,

    Bologna!

So our prior SB, won with those guys, also doesn’t mean as much bc we had to trade for Raiders Coach Gruden?

    Hahaha!

    Nope!

A championship is a championship and I would be forever grateful if Brady for us one as a BUCCANEER.

  94. Bird Says:

And for the people asking the question why dont the Pats want him ?
Like the jock strap sniffer above ^^^

They have come out and offered 30 mil months ago
Willing to offer real money since he always played for bargain
Something happened between brady and belicheat or front office
Something happened cause lets face it …brady has better chance in new england then here to win champ champ

  95. Bird Says:

The entire offense was from other teams during championship season
    Terrible argument

    Keshawn …mccardell…jerivicious…pittman…brad johnson
Ndog – you look horriblE again

  96. reply Says:

I DO NOT WANT BRADY. No thanks to the circus. I hope he chooses LA

  97. MarineBucsFan Says:

Gonna be a long day of speculation. Brady won’t decide on a team no sooner than official new season tomorrow.

  98. SteveK Says:

I like our chances Marine Buc.
We need to go in there and offer Brady the moon. We need him to take us to the promised land. Could you imagine Bucs Vs Chiefs in Tampa next February?

  99. Buczilla Says:

Oh damn, I may have been wrong about Brady not coming here. Fine with me! I’ll gladly eat crow. 😛

  100. MarineBucsFan Says:

I hope they do, this team is good QB play away from being a SuperBowl contender.

  101. Nate Says:

I think if Winston was so great, we would be hearing lots of rumors about interested teams. I can’t find anything! Think about it, I’ve heard of just about every other free agent qb linked to a team. However, no matter where I search, nothing on Jameis. Let that sink in.

  102. CalBucsFan Says:

Read the bread crumbs in TBs message, he’s telling us he’s a ‘CA kid’ and it’s time for a new ‘stage’ in his life. He’s coming to the LA Chargers, since the stages Tampa’s known for are not TB’s type of stage.
